If they stick with 2 VA's, they'd much sooner have those do the elven and dwarf voice properly as well rather then try to edit it with software, you aren't going to emulate the Dalish accent with software.

I think the only voice that will need any modulation will be the qunari to make it deeper. I don't really remember any major differences in the other races voices. Besides giving the dalish a Welsh accent for some reason.

Yep i hope not as there would be casualties elsewhere in the game if true.

I hope not.

Othewrwise yay loads and loads of auto dialogue (either that or no dialogue at all in places we'd have dialogue without 12 VAs).

Its going to be a bit werid hearing the male dwarf and male qunari use the voice you can hear from the human male. But I think some will have different voice actors.

I think they should go for four, tonally distinct voice actors that aren't tied to races. Basically Tenor Male, Soprano Female, Bass Male and Alto Female.

It'd be ambitious and provide better variety, but not quite be the same jump that having quadruple the number of actors would be.

Didn't Laidlaw confirm that they're leaning towards different VAs in the GI special edition podcast?

Well, Laidlaw has stated that he doubts they'd go with only 2 voices. Here's what I am expecting.

Humans, Elves, and possibly dwarves will all share voice actors with American accents (elves are city elves, dwarves are dwarves, and humans were...raised in an alienage or something. Or from somewhere with American accents.

I think Qunari will get their own actors.

I have nothing to base this on.

The probability of having more than one of each gender voice actor is equal to about 0.000003%. If they do go for multiple VO expect railroad conversation.

Knowing BioWare they will probably just invent some reason why the "Qunari" isn't speaking like the others. ;)

That's still double the existing which would either mean halving of character line budget or removal of other features to accomodate which isn't something i'd want to see.

I personally took from the GI interview that they were hoping to use technology to try and create some subtle differences in sound of voice without having the huge expense of extra voice actors.

I doubt the Dalish Elves will get an American accent... as for the Tal-Vashoth I'm almost sure they'll get their own VA (although as stated before, clever audio post-processing can make one VA work in most cases).

I hope not as that would be a huge waste of disc space, money, and time.  8 different voices I mean.

I would like the qunari to have different VAs, but would also be happy with 2 VA options to play with regardless of race for a total of 4.

I expect a minimum of at least 4 to choose from, 2m/2f. I hope for 3m/3f to choose from, and I would be blown over if there was 8, but I would still prefer to be able to choose from them, even if 2 of them were dedicated for the Qunari.

I don't think it's out of the question. BioWare is as well versed in handling tons of VO as anyone else in the industry, if not more so.

Yeah that's the major reason I really just would prefer 2 VAs. Each additional one is gonna cost dialogue.

I had enough railroaded dialogue and only 2 choices in ME3 to last me a while. I don't want more. The novelty of them all having different voices is gonna wear off quickly for me.

I doubt they would give the Qunari their own voice actor and make the other 3 races share a voice actor. That just screams poor budgeting/resource allocation.

If they go with multple voice actors for each gender, I would guess they would try to go with 2 different types of voices (like higher and lower), that way the player could pick what they think fits their race better.

They could also give the player the ability to change the pitch a little bit with filters. That occasionally works to a certain extent.

If they think its a worthwhile investment, then great, more reason to play the different races. Honestly, ideal world, I'd love that. But if someone wants to play as a dwarf, and they get really annoying VAs to play them as opposed to great VAs for the other races, that will put dwarf players off.

Well they did confirm that they are looking INTO a VA for each. They didn't decide on it 100% but they are exploring it because they don't feel right with one VA per gender ONLY with the multiple races. So well see and hope for the best!

I hope there's only one VA per gender.

Otherwise the auto-conversations are going to be very prevalent.

If all the races have the same exact voice, they are not implementing the multiple races feature properly. If they don't implement it properly they shouldn't have added it in the first place.

Mostly it is. An elf, a human and a qunari don't all speak the same.
