If you don't, you're obviously not spectre-worthy.

Generally I'd say 8 and 9 for anything on Gold or Platinum, since that's where the spawn budget is highest. Except for Reapers Platinum 9, which is sort of worthless with all of the husks. You should probably try and save one or two for the end of Wave 10 as well.

Bottom line, we need to know what enemy and difficulty you're referring to before we can answer your question.

On Gold, 5, 8, 9 on Cerberus, Reapers for sure. On Geth, 8 is a break wave. On Collectors, I would go 5, 7, heavy on 8.

This, except for Collectors wave 7. I never nuke that wave because it has a ton of abominations, i.e. you can finish it fairly quickly without rockets.

yup.
Wave 8 is a PITA though, with no aboms

You're probably right but the three Scions seem to always spawn together and are easy to hold together. I guess if you have an AOE armor killing power it's better to use it on another wave.Hendrix137 wrote...

5,8,9 for not Geth (I honestly don't know much about Collectors, though) but I would go light on 9 because you are unlikely to get a double-boss spawn in the basement on 9 (sometimes one spawns on the left and the other on the right and you can kite them together, but not really that often.) For Geth either do one or two on wave 7 or just save more for cleaning up the objective waves (remember that you get a prime on wave 6.)
If you are using a high DPS class e.g. GI then nuke at the beginning for as long as you can keep the respawn mostly together. Especially on 5 and 8 this can make things go really quickly. If you are using a class that's going to take 20+ seconds per boss (e.g. most non-reegar vanguards) then try to kite the bosses together while killing other stuff and missile at the end of the wave.
You can also use missiles for each objective wave that has a boss to clean up. Usually this works best for escort/hack objectives since the enemies are usually well clustered (if you haven't had to kite). Of course you can't predict the objective in advance, so this is more of an opportunistic thing than something set in stone.
