I can't get excited about something which will be most likely bad.

I'm certainly excited for the next Mass Effect game. I just hope they'll tone it down a bit. Less of the end of days, uniting all species against a common foe and self-sacrificing and more of what made me love the original Mass Effect in the first place: space exploration.

Honestly, no, I can't say I am by any stretch of the word. (And it has nothing do with my opinion on ME3's ending or anything.)

Hmmm Im excited? sort of? but im going to be hugely bummed out if its a prequel.. i mean knowing what happens afterwards, no matter if its a good or bad ending to it will just be like a slap in the face to me and id imagine quite a few fans.

if ME3 had ended better and with a bit more dignity then maybe we could stomach prequels so yeah i REALLY hope its a sequel if im honest, if it turns out its a prequel I will buy it and if the first hour blows then im sending it back.

But what if there was a DLC focusing on one of the antagonists? I'd kill to know how Harbinger came to power or the Intelligence accepting its omnipresent fate. The Levithans I'd really love to see more of, too. Another avenue they can go on could be with Shepard's parents, and how they meet, where they end up in the Military, and ultimately their fates as the Reapers come crashing down.

If it is a sequel of sorts (but still set in the ME universe of 2184-87ish), I'd love to see a minor character get a good chunk of screentime, like Conrad Verner, and a cameo of a few other familar faces we don't really see a whole lot of. OR, they can go totally out of the realm of humans and into a different species altogether. Play a Quarian, or a Turian for example, and see the war from their point of view.

But what would be really cool would be to play as the child at the end of ME3 if it's a sequel. Is the circle unbroken, or is it just a respite of peace before a new, more powerful enemy comes?

I'm starting to speculate now, but I think that BW has learned from its successes and failures with this franchise, and hopefully we'll get the best quality outta them.

Meh. I'm not excited. I'm just depressed about it.

I doubt they'll get the gameplay right, relying too much on hippityhoppitybunnyjumping multiplayer pacing.

After playing through the trilogy again, absolutely. The extended cut really made everything better for me (although it did leave a ton of questions unanswered). I have no idea how they're going to top the Shepard storyline though.

Very excited, especially for the new squad mates and the ship. Should be fun to explore and get to know new characters in a new setting but the same recognizable universe.

If there even is a ship ;P They said they don't want Shep 2.0 so in ME4, the player character may as well have his/her main 'base' in some crappy bunker on Tuchanka slums and just use/pay for galaxy 'taxies' to move around to other planets. Very possible

Hoped that time would temper my view towards a new game. Sadly not. No interest.

I'm excited about being able to enjoy the ME world again, but also wary until I hear more details.

I remember reading that they have been working on the initial steps since late last year and that they want to make it 'newcomer' friendly. The latter makes me a bit eh, though I still have hope.

Honestly I am not even remotely excited for the next Mass Effect game. I feel like there isn't much left in this series anymore. Shepherds stories been told and what new threat can there be? With the Reapers taken care of and Cerberus pretty much destroyed what can they have happen? Even with a prequel we will all know how its going to end, That is one of the major things I loved about the Mass Effect franchise was they you knew that there was a huge chance of you failing. With this you know the no matter what happens its gonna end with the galaxy alive. And I was seriously disappointed with Mass Effect 3's ending, it just seems like with Drew Karpyshyn gone they are just gonna go down hill. I would just hate and I mean HATE to see Bioware reduce an amazing series like Mass Effect to nothing but a " cow " for them to milk money out of. But who knows, maybe the next game won't be THAT bad but it seriously just seems like they are just in it for the money now knowing they are having a crappy studio Legendary Productions or whatever making their movie how great of a writer can they get to write their next " great game ". I love Mass Effect, its series along with Halo are my favorite game series of all time I have even read the books. So you can take what i've said here into consideration about it or you can just brush it off. Either way I am more then likely not gonna even consider getting the next game without some serious convincing.

Yes I am, since it appears to be one of the very few, if not only (alive) singleplayer franchise which lets you (sort of) explore different planets, has RPG elements and quite interesting squadmates. It has really drawed me into the universe and it's peculiarities, and it will probably never let me go.

I don't mind at all that it's not gonna be about Shepard, since his/her story is pretty much been told now. And I have faith in Bioware they are going to put forward a decent replacement, same goes for future companions.

I just hope it's a sequel, and even when it's set a few hundred years after the Trilogy it's always better than a prequel/spin-off in my opinion.

Smaller scale threats don't necessarily make them any less perilous for the protagonist, or that protagonist's allies in the story, since dead is dead after all. I sure hope it doesn't just feel like a cheap cash grab, but I'm also hoping that this isn't a save the galaxy story again either. We've been there and done that.

Also, why is Legendary a crappy producer?

Here's to exploring and rediscovering the Mass Effect Universe with a cast of fresh faces, on a new adventure.....and no longer being the defacto "savior of the galaxy" fighting against a nigh unstoppable force.

I'm reserving judgement until I see something. My gut instinct says it'll be bad, but I've been surprised before. Probably Dragon Age 3 will help serve as a barometer for whether Bioware is going down a spiral, or is just in a slump. Anyway, things that will raise my hopes/expectation:

No Sheperd
Origin Stories
Interesting Characters
No "Doom" plot, just regular normal evil
Return of Vehicle Combat
Introduction of Space Combat

And hopefully anything that shows a serious and coherent story. Nothing flashy, just no bad writing that pretends to be something new. I know it's going to be near impossible to tell ahead of time, but I'll be watching like a hawk.
