Who said anything about the style of gameplay? Why are you assuming what statement I'm referring too?

Yanick Roy has said both on his Twitter.

I would love to see quotes but I'll take your word for it. I personally didn't know either--I don't "Twitter."

So it's very easy for someone to not in actuality have hardly any real information about "ME4."

Oh, you're not referring to that statement? So when you said, and I quote, "I'm less than inclined to believe him or anything they say at all," that was a lie, then? Because it sounds to be you clearly do have reason to at least some of the things he's saying are truthful.

I don't use Twitter either except for looking at developer statements that are linked to me through the BSN.

You seem to be nitpicking and making contextomy.

Does truth in argument have any value to you, or is it always pure sophistry?

Yes, well I think I'm less than inclined to believe him or anything they say at all.

Can't say I blame you.

This guy has no reason to lie. If they really did plan on having ME 4 be a radically different game, they gain nothing by pretending otherwise beforehand. Players would learn the truth long before release from previews and such.

Did Supermac have a reason to lie about the Rachni? Did CHud have a reason to lie about wildly branching endings? Did they have a reason to lie about seeing the asset's you collect in action?

Btw, tell me what previews we have of ME4. All I've seen thus far is vague statements that are doing the same hyping as ME3.

I like your list David, it's really informative, no way people could have worked out those things about the next BioWare game on their own. I thought they were making an stategy game about an ant hill.

MassivelyEffective0730 not trusting what anybody from BioWare is saying is understandable. Some of the BioWare staff have said some things that either turned out to be either an exaggeration or an outright lie. It's one of the reasons why some people don't trust them these days.

As far as I know, they don't even have a Lead Writer yet.

Yes, unfortunately, they did. They had very strong reasons to lie about all of that which don't apply here.

What's a strong enough reason to lie about a product you're selling to paying customers?

Telling people what they want to hear. Sales and publicity. Good press. Marketing.

They can't let the game do that on its own? They have to lie about a game instead of making one that does all of that on its own, without them having to lie to their consumers? That's not a reason.

And if it is, they'd be doing it right now for ME4. Unless you want to tell me why they wouldn't be doing it?

All things considered, lying WOULD serve to build hype, but failing to deliver on it would be a killer blow to an already dented franchise, and I'd like to think that they learned their lesson...to some extent at least.

They wouldn't be doing it because there's no way in hell they could ever get away it. Yes, they might have thought players would be happy enough with the game that they would be satisfied with the Rachni or ending or whatever and it wouldn't be a problem.

But this is nothing like that. Whether the game is a third person shooter or not is a core mechanic that will be utterly obvious to anyone who pays a lick of attention to any preview months in advance.

Not to be a jerk, but even the original Mass Effect's advertising was very different from the actual game.  The adverstising made it seem like you were choosing between the fates of different worlds. T'was not the case.

Yeah, but that's very little compared to what was advertised for ME3.
