You're both wrong. And Iakus, you're twice wrong.

Angel, used games hurt developers because the sale of a used game is a sale that developers make no money off of. Too many used games lower the price of new games. So that is a legitimate concern.

Iakus, retailers are not going to stop stocking BioWare games. That's silly. But more importantly, you're using a ridiculous and unfair double standard by claiming BioWare is at fault because they supposedly released the EC because of financial concerns. By that reasoning, you can claim that ANY good thing BioWare has ever done was done to make money, and thus they must be greedy and evil. Which is absurd.

Well upset fans = lost sales. So the primary concern was money.

You could just as easily say the primary purpose of any content made by BioWare is to make money. And it would be just as true.

Well, that would be harder to prove since the EC was free.

All EA games?  No

Bioware games?  Perhaps.  They certainly wouldn't order or stock as many copies, that's for sure.

I've been pretty polite to you.  I'd ask you return the courtesy.

Does Gamestop get the choice of what developers of a publisher they stock?

I'm being polite. That's one of the oddest interpretations of the EC I've ever encountered and I don't know any other way to comprehend it.

What statement of mine was wrong?

You said "So EA has to pay back Game/Gamestop/other retailers for games that were traded back?" Implying you were skeptical that returns hurt developers. They do hurt developers.

People returning games they don't play anymore, the horror

I was not implying that it didn't hurt. I was implying that that is not the reason for the EC (our topic of conversation here).

*shrug*

Developers have made more money off me and everyone I know because of used games than they ever likely would have without them.

Hopefully, they'll eventually learn to deal with the idea that they don't make every single penny of of every product they ever make for eternity, like every other product industry on the planet.

Mass effect is such a well put together universe I feel no matter when the next game takes place, it will be a great game. Bioware has learned a lot since ME3

If Mass Effect 3 gets returned in droves by angry customers, you think they'll be as eager to buy so many copies of ME4?

Or will they cut their orders by a third, or half, since they're no longer confident they can move the product?

Stores want items that will fly off the shelves, not stuff that ends up on the "Used" shelf in bulk a week or so after the release date.

That's what I want to believe too.

I think the appeal of the MEU is bigger than any particular mistakes they may have commited. It can outlive those in time.

Yeah. Nothing against them, but I think they would do better with a smaller plot with more focus on characters. While still improving the gameplay. Just a thought though.

You know what else is hurting them? EA working on half a dozen games simultaneously. Reminds me of TIMmy in ME2 - one too many projects.

That's a fair point. Though I am doubtful that single game could do that.

How do you come to that conclusion? Electronic Arts has over 9000 (sorry) emplyees. Not all of them are developers of course, but they have enough people to work on a dozen games simultaneously.

What? EA develops games as well, there are like six EA branded developers, along side the likes of DICE and BioWare.

Nah, surely Bioware makes the likes of FIFA and NBA Live

They write the checks, basically. You seem to be under the impression that EA is unable to write checks to more than a half-dozen games at a time or else those games. I really don't see why so long as those individual projects have dedicated developers.

They're both. EA's first party studios are still dwarfed by acquisitions and subsidiaries though.

My recent champions league season did have quite a bad ending.
