I thought it's time for a universal thread about music; be that favourite album lists, tracks, artists, ect. A place to discover new music and to share, or to just discuss any music related topics or news. This can also be a place to show off your very own creative work if you're yourself a musician. Are you excited about an upcoming album release? Have you discovered an artist you can't stop listening to? Or are you a lover of the classics?

I'm certain 90% of the population love music, and have something different to share and talk about; so let's share and discuss, people! :wizard:

To start things off, what are your current favourite five tracks? It's pretty hard to choose top five all time tracks, so just your current five, the first five that come to your mind.

Here is my list of songs I can't stop listening to:

Pink Floyd - Echoes
MGMT - Siberian Breaks
Tame Impala - Appocalypse Dreams
The Beatles - A Day In The Life
King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man

I've also recently purchased the Steven Wilson album 'The Raven That Refused To Sing' on vinyl (Yes I love Vinyl!) and can't stop listening to it. Image IPB

Nah.

It's just the metal connoisseurs are the most likely to discuss music in any detail.

Hmm, five songs?

Anberlin, The Unwinding Cable Car
Red, Pieces as well as Shadows
The Classic Crime, Walk With Me
hmm...I dunno, you could probably pick a song by one of those three bands to round out the list. My main three are the ones I listed, though.

Many of my early musical inspirations were in that genre pocket, but I listen to nearly anything and everything. Top 5 favorite songs, eh? Discounting Video Game Soundtracks and the like:

Phantom of the Opera - Point of No Return.
Erik Satie - Gnossiene #1.
Megadeth - Hangar 18.
Tool - Vicarious.
Last, but not least, Michael Jackson's Earth Song. For the rest, try my signature.

Frankly, I don't buy much music anymore - it's either straight off of YouTube or checking out OCRemixes' new albums. Having said that, I'm always up for hearing something new. Except for bieber. :P

Only five? I could never do that ...

Asphyxia - Sense of Decay
T3RR0R 3RR0R - The Last Dance
Cinema Bizarre - Lovesongs (They Kill Me)
Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
Cat Stevens - Father And Son
Genesis - I Can't Dance
Genesis - Jesus He Knows Me
Royal Crown Revue - Trapped (In The Web Of Love)

... damnit, I'll stop here, or this list is never going to end.

What, are ya into dubstep?

(Please don't say you're into dubstep. It will leave me with no choice but to put you down.)

Choosing 5 is challenging... but here are a few I enjoy in particular.

Dio-Rainbow in the Dark

Disturbed-Animal

Godsmack-Voodoo

Volbeat-The Hangman's Body Count

Slash w/ Myles Kennedy-Anastasia

I made another thread bout voting what the person above you is listening but apparently it didn't catch on. No one wants to give other music a chance around here.

Plus there are a lot of haters on here for hip-hop and electronica too. Seems like myself and J. Reezy are the only ones that post a lot of it.

So why bother?

This might be to hard for some of you sensitive souls around here.

Here are my five (been listening to a ton of synthwave lately):

Could This Be? - Noisia
Welcome to Nocturne City - Perturbator
Industrial Sector 3083 - Bourgeoisie
Sign Here - El-P
Crimewave - Mega Drive

Generalizing like a boss.

Anyway, few of my favourites are -  Buckethead, Lisa Gerrard and Thomas Newman.

Buckethead is just mind blowing, Lisa Gerrard sounds like an angel and Thomas Newman composed some of the best music I've heard.

There is soooooooooooo much music that I listen to, that I have no real preference, but I do have a hard time listening to Country, only genre I'm not into, personally.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Volor Flex and the LIMBO soundtrack.

In all, my main preference of music is instrumental, with ambient influences.

I also do play guitar, not as much, but I have a lot of short recordings that I do enjoy.

I'm am probably one of the odd guys here. I really love funk. But I am also a jazz/rock/fusion fan. Some have observed me to listen to pretty weird experimental sound waves as well. The older I get the more different types of music I like. Some of the stuff I can't stop listening to:

"Cosmic Slop" - P-Funk All Stars.
"Maggot Brain" - Praxis.
".50 Cal" - Les Claypool.
"Date With Baby" - Brooklyn Funk Essentials.
"Fuzzface" - Zillatron.
"Pluck" - George Duke.
"Come Together" - Marcus Miller.

Angry, that cover of Maggot Brain is so epic. I remember listening to that a while back, still gives me chills.

I can find something I like in any genre, so instead of top five songs I'll name some of my favorite artists/bands.

The Who
Queen
Sade
Sting
Dean Martin
The Prodigy
Infected Mushroom
Prince
Steppenwolf
Steve Vai

If I had to choose just one song: The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony

Agreed. I know you are Buckethead fan. That Zillatron number in my list not only has Bootsy in there, but Buckethead is responsible for the guitars. ;)
