OP said about "songs", those things are singable aka songs, vocal and choral works and Opera. I know The first four you mentioned don't have a single word in them. They're plain music.
Bands tend to ruin fast. It's solo singing that rule the world. Forming a short duration duet or band is nice but they won't last long.

Lies and slander. Is that thread you made still open? I need to find some new music. It's hard to do that in the What Are You Listening To thread since I'm only paying attention to what I'm posting most of the time.Hyperglide wrote...
I made another thread bout voting what the person above you is listening but apparently it didn't catch on. No one wants to give other music a chance around here.
Yeah I've noticed that. No one else post that in any significant amount.Plus there are a lot of haters on here for hip-hop and electronica too. Seems like myself and J. Reezy are the only ones that post a lot of it.

You might want to reread the OPs first sentence. Songs was obviously used synonymous with tracks/pieces/whatever else.

Ha! I never pay attention to the lyrics in any music anyway. If I want words I would actually read them, separately, without music. If the music and words are both strong they become weaker when combined because they distract from each other. Words are commonly used to distract from weak music which are not worth listening to in the first place - this is what most people would call "songs", and what the vast majority of contemporary "music" consists of.Kaiser Arian wrote...

Frankly, if a piece of music is so lacking in expressive power that it require words to supplement it, it's not worthy of being called music. Music is a language in and of itself. Would you listen to two languages spoken at the same time, even if they are going on about the same topic? Could you?

I'M A ROMANTIC MUSIC FANATIC MYSELF. I PRAISE BEETHOVEN, DVORAK AND BRAHMS LIKE NO OTHER! I'LL EXILE THOSE WHO SHOW NO RESPECT TO THESE THREE TO ABYSS!
And the hell you're talking about? There has always been Instrumental music and Vocal music. I think it's new genres like Heavy Metal that rely too much on the Guitar and Drums while singing ...
Whatever every genre has its own cliches. I can't see how Heavy Metal is better than Rock'n'Roll.
My top 5 instrumental right now:
Dvorak - Serenade in D minor, Op.44 (completely woodwind instruments)
Brahms - Viola Sonata No.2 in E flat, Op.120
Beethoven - Cello Sonata in A major, Op.69
Bruckner - Symphony No.8
Schumann - Symphony No.2

Depends on the kind. For Electronica, I prefer the meditative Trance stuff. Hip-Hop I'll admit I've skipped most outside of Tupac, Eminem, and many of the popular artists.Plus there are a lot of haters on here for hip-hop and electronica too.
That's very apt for the Heavy Metal genre, lyrics are typically weakest in (most) Metal songs. One of my favorites, Hangar 18, has little to no significance to me, but 90% of the song is instrumental anyhow. And the instrumental sections nail it. I remember playing it way back in a gamestop on Guitar Hero 2. I was just blown away by the relentless fury of that solo.I think it's new genres like Heavy Metal that rely too much on the Guitar and Drums while singing ...

Anyway, I find their removal of wind and acoustic instruments disturbing. How Jazz, Rock'n'Roll, Rockabilly and Country-Rock use them are the most awesome. [These 4 combined are less popular than Metal, that's why I want to facedesk every few hours]
The goal of "Metal" music is to create chaos, to be anarchic and idiotically anti-culture. I can't appreciate those. Finally, it sucks aesthetically.

Ladies and Gents, I present to you Nightwish - Ghost Love Score.
It's literally the anti-thesis to what you said. And it's Symphonic Metal.

Metal is simply a musical style. The goal of "Metal" music is to create chaos, to be anarchic and idiotically anti-culture. I can't appreciate those. Finally, it sucks aesthetically.
There's no inherent imagery or ideology.

That's good to hear that they also use other instruments, but I can't see in typical/mainstream kind.
Well, about ideology ... I know that Rock is influenced by open-mindedness movement which has ideological origins. Also Funk, Punk, Gothic and Emo groups has their own ideologies (ideas and ethics). I suppose metal has its own too.
Whatever, if these posts annoy you, ignore them and just post your 5 favorites.
Sorry OP that I drilled your topic.

Anyone a fan of blues rock? If so I recommend White Denim.
White Denim - Radio milk: how can you stand it
I've meet only a few people who actually know who they are, but they're a band that have really grown on me. Their album 'Fits' impressed me alot. I still need to listen to their new album.

First off, you'll find anti-authority sentiment in any and all genres where you have lyrics. No exceptions. Every genre has its own way of saying "**** you, I'm a rebel!" The statement is generally pretty hollow and silly, but occasionally enjoyable.
Anti-culture.. now that is an interesting term. I will admit that sentiment is abundant in metal. And I do not care at all.
