Plenty of people shun technology somewhat. They see much of it as unreliable and prefer sticking to fundamentals. Why do you think plenty of people still prefer the M1911 to modern pistols?

Classic everyday example.

All my other handguns never perform sufficiently well enough to satisfy my firearm-related expectations.

(Meaning: I'd have went with something like reluctancy to buy a fancy coffeemaker, or upgrading their OS.)

I think it would be better for everyone if Javik just a bullet in his head after things have quieted down.

It's not like he's going to travel the galaxy and learn peace, love, and happiness. He's shown he doesn't care for anyone on the Normandy, and that's not going to change. He's never going to have anything more than his memories.

The conversation after Horizon blatantly contradicts this.

Several conversations between then and the end of the game contradict it.

Yep, though that only happenes if you tell him NOT to use the memory shard through renegade dialogue.

Anyways, my shore leave would be a beach party on Rannoch with the entire Normandy crew invited. Not only is it the homeworld of my Shepard's girlfriend, but also has no insects to ruin the outdoorsyness. Its a win-win.

Yeah, it wasn't until a very late playthrough that I finally told him to look. I was surprised at the difference. Not my first instinct to tell people to remember bad memories.

It's funny though what different options might come from the Renegade options. I think one playthrough he got friendly with liara so he decided to write a book with her. The other he didn't make amends with her and decided to exploit the Hanar and live as a god among them. To me that was the most fitting. I could see him on a throne, getting fanned down with palm leaves.

Sanves. Take a trip to the Asari resort world of Sanves. Stay in Etheai. Average temperature a comfortable 25 C, but I'd have to get used to the long days and nights 51 hrs.

Tuchanka. With Wrex, Javik, and Liara.

Enjoying various Krogan delicacies, exploring ruins, sand surfing, and Thresher Maw riding.

Don't even need sunscreen as my Shep is already well-tanned.

Alternatively, to the galaxy's most expensive casino (which I suspect will be on Illium).

Infiltrator Shepard with Kasumi, Garrus, and Tali.

Have a good time and win a few billion credits in the process. Then use the money to start a fund to help war orphans.

That planet stinks. Almost nothing but steep mountains.

Also, shoot the pyjaks. They'll evolve and usurp you if you don't. Got to show them who's the apex race.

Prothean logic actually. And Leviathan. And Krogan probably.

And my own logic as I type this and eat a savory chicken pot pie.

You weren't there, you didn't see them charging at my Mako, I had to defend myself.  It was like Conquest of the Planet of the Apes IRL. I never saw it coming.

I wasn't being sarcastic. It's a good logic, one which I fully endorse.

Too bad BioWare made the Reapers abandon this sensible logic and instead go with the Catalyst's "preserving organic life at all costs" hogswallop.

That motive would be stupid. Because it makes utterly no sense that the Reapers would wait until species are space-worthy to exterminate them. It makes no sense that the Reapers would leave some species alone at all. And frankly, having such a petty villian isn't very satisfying.

"Utterly/Completely"

C'mon David. I told you this morning. Just a few new "intensifying" adjectives woudn't hurt. Or none at all. People would get the point anyways.

Do you have a suggestion as to why the Reapers decide to wait until species are space faring? Why they leave some species alone at all?

Is that what this thread was about? Thought it was about beating up pyjaks.

Yes, I have a suggestion.. which was just Karpynshyn's original suggestion: It was never the space faring part they had an eye on, but the biotic potential of species (although that's still indirectly tied to space faring capability). We didn't get that though, so I've moved on. "Yo dawg" it is.

...So they exterminate all spacefaring life in the galaxy every 50,000 years..because they're afraid of biotics. Despite the fact that biotics are incredibly rare among nearly all species. Despite the fact that biotics are never presented as some sort of ultimate power or threat, or even anything remotely close. What threat do biotics pose, exactly?

Also, I really don't at all see how biotics is necessarily tied to space exploration. The only link I can think of is that a planet with lots of eezo will have an easier time building spaceships? That's tenuous, at best.

It's not about being afraid of biotics. Drew's Reapers needed biotics. I never said anything about fear.

Kind of ignored the rest of your post.

They need biotics. Okay. So why are they bothering with species that have a negligable amount of biotics at all? Why not just focus on the asari? In fact, if they need biotics, why bother with any of this nonsense? Why not just seed planets with eezo and harvest the life that evolves with it? What do they need biotics for in the first place? What's so special about biotics that Reapers can't develop it themselves?

They absorb the (technological and genetic) essence of the species (like with ME2's baby Reaper) and make use of them (like using the Collectors). It's farming.

But of course I don't expect you to agree. Feel free to stick to your stories about good and evil and stuff.

That would be a ridiculously inefficient method of 'farming' for a plot that makes no sense at all anyway. You can't 'absorb' the 'technological essence of a species.'
