I see a trilogy of major titled DA games (DA:O being the first) in this immediate series with years of DLC to support and to whet appetites for each upcoming major title. No real surprises there.
We know that BW has worked on the initial realease DA:O for about 5 years. Who knows how far they've pushed forward into the the next game's development and the planned storyline for subsequent titles, so speculating on a release date for the next major game is mute, but I think it will come out sooner than most of us think.
I have heard BW has two years of planned DLC to support DA:O. My prediction is that the planned DLC will not impact the main storyline we all established in DA:O in any major way. (i.e. I don't see Morrigan and the god-baby showing up until DA2, since this was the obvious plot bridge into the next major title (I could be wrong, I just doubt that I am). From personal experience and reading these boards, this is the one nagging thing that many of us are waiting for. I daresay, most male players, romanced her, did the deed and got kicked in the ba!!s, and watched her just walk away like little helpless, gelded patsy boys (with no options) and are still feeling this betrayal as BW intended.
There is a reckoning from this event that must be satsified, or BW risks a peasant's revolt...not to mention a god-baby that will either be the greatest gift to Thedas or the terror of the Age. This part of the story is critical to female players, as well as non-Morrigan romancing players; we were all faced with the Dark Ritual. She could get pregnant no matter what the PC did. PREDICTION: This is where the next game (DA2) goes. I see many of our party returning at some point or other within DA2 (with the options built in if you drove someone off or killed them - Wynne might be the only sure non-returner, which would be a shame as I liked her very much). I also see us leaving Ferelden certainly since DLC (and DA:O) will have us tramping everywhere possible within this land.
Whatever the specifics of DLC and story, I predict you will not see Morrigan in DLC...maybe allusions to her, but nothing plot critical. She's the main character (with baby) for DA2. For the Morrigan romancers, my gut tells me you'd better make sure you're still wearing her ring at your last games save. Just a thought.
As far as DA3 is concerned, not much point in speculating beyond: it will be the climax of all developments in DA:O and DA2, with Morrigan and baby serving as the hinge point of the plot, which will finish off the story of the "Dragon Age" or at least our part in it.
As I said, solid, but not necessarily plot-worthy, DLC will be programmed in between the three major titles and we will all most certainly lap up the Kool-Aid BW dishes out if these boards are any indication.
Having said that, I think the upcoming DLC (over the next two years) could remain in Ferelden and stay genereic enough, or perhaps just give us further background information into the story line. DLC could have us return to the Korcari Wilds, the Deep Roads (there's much we haven't seen there), a quick stop (for human nobles) at Highever (or whatever your Origins start point), forays into the Frostback Mountains, or a quest to Dragon's Peak (often referred to, but noticeably not open for travel). Adventures to all these places will stay in line with the points of the Epilogue that the Darkspawn remained strong and numerous.
Anyway, just my take.

@barbarossa: The Damien baby could also be the potential antagonist for DA:2, this option could give merit to carry-over options from DA:1 depending on which outcome you chose (You could ask Morrigan about your dad and her answer varies on your decision from DA:1) And the rest of the game could focus on how you choose to harness your spirit (Maybe fragments of a previous life unfold through story progression.)
Excellent thought Moonstryder. An interesting deviation from my thought.
How about further deviation? How about if you continued to play your PC and you somehow sensed your child and what he/she was doing through the taint, (Like how you and Alistair had visions of the Archdemon in dreams) and got glimpses of what was happening with he/she and Morrigan? The child bears the taint, as well as the essence of the old god that was not long before, an Archdemon; why would we not be able to sense it?
An even further deviation: wouldn't it be interesting to play both your PC AND the god-child at certain points(something like playing Master Chief and the Arbiter as in HALO 2 [with or without an antagonistic relationship-whatever the plot dictates] until they meet face to face in some grand climax? Hard to speculate on this one since we don't know how the child will turn out nor Morrigan's/Flemeth's ultimate goal. Arthurian myth (don't think the whole Morrigan / Morganna thing went unnoticed), dictates the child is evil, or turns evil, but we can hope for something other than a Mordred I suppose.

We all know RtO and Awakening are coming out. (when might be an issue but that's a discussion for another thread.)
I want to know what people think will be the next DLC story addon. Will we be getting more depth to the Deep Roads? Will we encounter the highly secretive tribe of Kee' Bler elves in the forest and steal their magic cookies? Share all speculations no matter how strange, convoluted or just plain silly.
I would guess that we will get two DLC levels, one in the summer, one in autumn (the fall for those of you across the pond), with a major expansion in the winter.
If I had to guesstimate:
Summer: Dwarf based DLC level
Autumn: Elf based DLC level
Winter: Orlais based major expansion, taking the Level cap up to about level 50.
Over the course of 2010 expect the usual minor DLC of new armour, weapons and items of course.
I could see the possibility of DLC levels every 3 months with a major expansion every 9 months or so. At that rate we could expect five major expansions after Awakening, with each being roughly half the size of the original game, culminating in a Level cap of about Level 100.
Expansion #1: Awakening - Level Cap 37.5 in March 2010
Expansion #2 - Level Cap 50 in December 2010
Expansion #3 - Level Cap 62.5 in September 2011
Expansion #4 - Level Cap 75 in June 2012
Expansion #5 - Level Cap 87.5 in March 2013
Expansion #6 - Level Cap 100 in December 2013...the final game
After that get ready for Dragon Age 2 on the X-box 1000 (or whatever it will be called) in 2014.
they have only planed for around 2 years of DLC
there goes your plan

Which is to say that predicting what is next is now more difficult. I'm guessing that what mix of little DLCs and larger expansions will depend entirely on how they sell. There are a number of small things that could be dealt with in small DLCs - things like a return to the Human Noble origin's starting location (one of the two origin locations not revisited in the game) or a further fleshing out of the fate of Maric or something more with Goldanna. Playing through you can see a number of places where something could be added or expanded upon.

I'd love to lead an Exalted March, but that will likely never happen. But I'd settle for a little more exploration of the regions below Ostagar such as the Korcari Wilds and maybe even into the "Uncharted Territories" just south of the KW. Would be fun to find out what is within the unknown.
I think an Exalted March is possible. Remember the chantry dwarf in Orzammar? At the ending its stated that the chantry is planning an exalted march against the dwarves for mistreating that chantry dwarf.

- More background on the Elves, expanding to the history of one of the former Elven homelands
- To the second Dwarven city
- Back to the Wilds, uncovering more about the Chasind, the presence of the Darkspawn over there, and more on Morrigan, Flemeth and the other Witches of the Wilds

As for the sequel, I suspect the majority of the storyline there will involve either a "a decade or more years into the future" scenario where you deal either with the next Archdemon, and/or Flemeth, and/or Morrigan (and/or her baby). Aside from a cameo from maybe Alistair and Oghren, I suspect we'll only get passing mentions of the other companions. There could be, however, room for Sten to return in some respect depending on what the Qunari do with his information. Depending on the ending, I doubt we'd see Shale (at least not in golem form), Wynne has likely passed on (depending on how weak the Spirit actually got during the battles), Leliana would have returned to Orlais, and Zevran is either dead, simply out adventuring, or leads the Crows himself. The dog could be around or dead, too, depending on how far into the future we're talking about. Of course, these are all subject to the decisions you made during the first game (such as if Sten survived Lothering). And, I strongly suspect that we'll be in another nation rather than Ferelden proper. Maybe we'd start from Ferelden, but the plot leads us to, I would guess, the Anderfels or Orlais, with an outside shot at maybe Tevinter and/or Par Vollen.

Not necessarily. They may only have 2 years of planned DLC at the moment, but theres nothing to say they couldn't add another year on after that!
Looking at the big map we have many major areas...Orlais, Nevarra, the Free Marches, Antiva, Rivain, Par Vollen, Seheron, Anderfels and of course the Tevinter Imperium.
Personally I think each would require its own expansion just to scratch the surface.
Expansion #2 - Level Cap 50 in December 2010...Orlais based
Expansion #3 - Level Cap 62.5 in September 2011...Nevarra and the Free Marches
Expansion #4 - Level Cap 75 in June 2012...Antiva and Rivain
Expansion #5 - Level Cap 87.5 in March 2013...Par Vollen and Seheron (strong seafaring theme)
Expansion #6 - Level Cap 100 in December 2013...Anderfels and the Tevinter Imperium (the final adventure)
In fact its possible that we may stay in Ferelden for the entirety of the Dragon Age sagas, not visiting Orlais until Dragon Age 2?

1. Gwaren (a dive into Loghain's past)
2. Aeonar (uncovering what the Tevinter were searching for)
3. Korcari Wilds (finding out where exactly the Darkspawn are coming from)

So yeah: 1. The Aeonar.
2. Frostback Mountains (Korth's Heart, anyone?, at least something involving Avvar lore)
3. Korcari Wilds (would be interesting to investigate the site where the Darkspawn burst through the surface, and maybe learn more about the Chasind). I think this is unlikely as a DLC though, due to it being set *during* the Blight.

Morrgian- Either way if you do or don't do the ritual with her. It says she is with child. It doesn't say directly the child is yours if you don't do the ritual. However that she is with child at all, is a mystery. I feel she will come back into Dragon Age 2
Dragon Cult, I think they willl grow stronger and will enable a quest with them about a few hours long when they attack a village, I feel Morrgian will be behind helping them grow stronger
Blood Magic, I think the circle of Magi will be destroyed but the new rise of Blood Mages and they will take part with the cult and Morrgian, along with a few others to create a new army to fight with

A trip to the black city would be neat. Where we would find out the real reason that the maker is gone is that he is out for waffles.
The war with tevinter and quarni would be a setting I would like. Also make the areas we visit more open. I just always feel like I am on some railroad tracks. Not super huge sandbox style but spread it out some.
