For those of you who weren't aware, Gamespot is holding a public voting competition for the 'Greatest Game Series of the Decade'.

Mass Effect, Dragon Age and KOTOR are currently in the running.

The Elder Scrolls beat Grand Theft Auto in the final, to become the winner.

Note - You heed to be signed into Gamespot to vote. For those of you who don't already have an account, it's fairly easy and fast to sign up, if I remember correctly.

All Bioware games have now been eliminated!
Dragon Age didn't make it through the first round, lost against Dead Space.
KOTOR made it to the second round, lost against Bioshock.
Mass Effect made it to the final 4, lost against Grand Theft Auto.

Kotor is also up in the running. It had better not end up being a clash between Kotor and Mass Effect. I wouldn't be able to choose!

Tomb Raider, Fallout, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry etc shouldn't be there. Although the last Tomb Raider and Fallout New Vegas were great, it's still mostly a ride based on initial success in the 90s/early 00s, not really last decade (2003 onwards)

In the seeding video, Gamespot said that a strong point for Mass Effect is that the whole series has been began and ended in the same decade.

I definitely think it's the greatest, but I don't know about making a Gamespot account just to cast a vote

ME1: Released in 2007.
ME3: Released in 2012.

Those are not in the same decade. Are the guys at Gamespot constantly on drugs or are they really as incompetent as they seem?

Decade as in, 10 years ago from when they began the voting. 2003 - 2013

Would seem so when they match games not being even remotely similar in the same pool, i can't understand how they expect to gain a objective result from that.

Of the Bioware games mentioned Dragon Age: Origins would win best game hands down.

Best franchise would go to Mass Effect, which despite the fuss about the ending of the third game has maintained a far higher level of quality.

They didn't really set those up very well. Some seem guaranteed to move on while some goodies seemed doomed to fail in round one just because of the pairings. For example, Red Dead is loosing at the moment.

Some of these game series didn't even start in the last 10 years, the Legend of Zelda started off in 1986 for f*cks sake!

In the seeding video, they explained that the game series had to have had at least one release any time between 2003 and 2013.

Mass effect should dominate the team fortress franchise, but the other two may have done trouble.

Is the elder scrolls franchise in the running? I have a hard time seeing that one falling to anyone, and i'm not a big fantasy fan.

They aren't meaning for the vote to be a serious indicator of the 'Greatest Game Series', but rather a fun opportunity to see how far fans can take their games, so they pick the face-offs at random.

Yup. It's in Dragon Age's bracket, up against Starcraft first.

Er...they kind of mention they were talking about games from 2003....which is a decade.

Gametrailers did something similar, but they restricted it to a series that has ALL of their games released in the last 10 years which is a better comparison IMO. X-com for example, hadn't seen an entry in over 10 years before last year's X-com.

Technically, a decade only means 10 years..doesn't mean 20001 to 2011...

Can't believe DMC lost against Resident Evil.
