So they disregarded the wildly different endings in order to not disregard them? Yeah, makes perfect sense.

Yeah, that was kinda my point. Because the RPGs before KOTOR 2 either retconned, straight-out ignored or only canonized 1 version of the ending in the previous installement(s).

the story is basically a rip-off of Avellone's own Planescape: Torment

You can't "rip-off" yourself, check the KOTOR 2 credits

I know who the writer for KotOR 2 was, that's why I wrote "Avellone's own" and yes, you CAN rip-off yourself, it's called self-repetition.

KoTOR2 does have similarities with Torment, especially the protagonist sucking people into their influence but I wouldn't say it's a copy.

Looks like my eyes blurred out "own" word when reading your post :police: Anyway, you say repetition I say self-homage :police:

It's currently competing against BioShock with a 60-40 lead :) better than I'd expected! Assuming Mass Effect keeps the lead, it'll likely go up against The Legend of Zelda. I don't really know what its odds are against that one.

Zelda isn't exactly from "this decade", but okay.

Mass Effect is off to a good start, about 60 to 40 against Legend of Zelda :) funny enough, it's the same percentage from the last round.

I don't think it's meant as 2010-2020, that would be too early to tell at this point anyway :P so just a decade ago till now. Not sure why they chose such an uneven timeframe, though.

I'll be legitimately surprised if LoZ gets less votes than Mass Effect.

Gonna be very interesting to see if ME can get past Zelda. I very much hope it does. Completely deserves it. It would be a fantastic achievement.

Been voting for Mass Effect. Despite my disagreement with the direction of the ending, it's amazing what they accomplished with this series, and still perhaps my favorite of all time.

40h+ of refined gameplay and inventive game-mechanics per game against 20h+ space shooter with rpg-elements per game. People really love their chest-high-wall power-fantasies and dating sims. Oh boy.

ME is currently leading. Interestingly enough, it's leading with a higher lead than it won out against BioShock with.

In a way, I think it's fitting that ME would win. Zelda has definitely done more for gaming as a whole, it's probably one of the top5 most influential games of all time, but the past decade has been lacking compared to their past gems.

Assassins Creed V Fallout - Easy Fallout.
Elder Scrolls v MGS - Easy Elder Scrolls.
GTA v Batman Arkham - Easy Batman Arkham
Zelda vs Mass Effect - ............ I cannot choose, please don't make me choose.

Since 2007 Mass Effect for me has been great... but I remember playing the first Zelda on my NES way back in the very early 1990s. And then most of all the Zelda games going forward. The only 2 games I ever really played on the Wii were Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. It sucks I probably going to have to buy that POS Wii U for the next new (Not remake) Zelda.

I really... REALLY cannot pick between these two.

I've cast my votes.

ME resived my vote, but, they better pickujp the slack in the next game because the ME3 endgame feelt kinds of mediocre at best. Some call it crap. But has provided me with a great ride and lots of anticipation through the years.

Zelda belongs to an earlier generation of games imo.

I don't think there's any chance GTA won't win with GTAV coming right now.

It is quite impressive. Guess it shows why there's gonna be an ME4.
