haha it beat Zelda, what a travesty.
Revenge voting for GTA.
It was only logic.
A series that brought many inovations to the adventure genre, has lasted the test of time, is a huge classic and many devs has listed it as being their inspiration or a series that only has stroked gamers ego and giving them many pixels to have sex with.
Ya, ME beating a series like that is logic alright.

Who's to say that Mass Effect won't become as big as Zelda in the future? You never know. And despite Mass Effect being less recognized and having more controversies to deal with, it's been giving big established franchises a run for their money. I think that's indicative of it's quality

Because unlike ME, Zelda, Mario, Fallout, GTA, Metorid ect, all those classics have had a big impact on gaming, ME has not. What has ME done that changed gaming in a big aspect? Do I really need to list the big impacts Zelda has had on gaming which are still alive today or the fact that the Zelda series has lasted the test of time along with other classics I mentioned?chris2365 wrote...

And I suppose Call of Duty is the best game series with the highest quality ever, right? After all, it's still the biggest and best-selling video-game franchise that gives most, if not all established franchises a run for their money.

Skyrim is not even close to Fallout1,2/NVs level of epicness.Gravisanimi wrote...
Just gonna say, bought Skyrim in the hopes that it would slate a hunger for a new Fallout game. It didn't work.

I'm not saying that the Zelda games are bad (I haven't actually played them, so I'm in no position to judge). Those classics have been around for a long time, and have had many years to make their impact felt during the small beginnings of the industry. Mass Effect has only been around since 2007. We can't know the impact of Mass Effect's trilogy until years down the line.
And you can't say that Mass Effect has had no impact on the gaming industry. It pionnered the save import system ( correct me if I'm wrong). A trilogy with so many variables has never been seen before And even though it had to deal with the ending debacle, it made the industry more aware of the growing voices of it's fans and the effects they can have on their games and the developpers.
Besides, people are all voting for different reasons. Some look objectively and decide the impact of this particular game/franchise on gaming (on that point, I'd agree that Zelda has, thus far, done more to the industry than Mass Effect). Others vote with their favorites, their nostalgic franchise from their childhood days or their preferred genre. Some people vote Mass Effect over GTA because they prefer linear, story oriented games. If that is their opinion, can you really object to it?

True enough, Fallout 3 had a total of about 5 interesting characters and Skyrim just had Cicero.Gravisanimi wrote...

You trying to imply that ME is only a big name because of romances really do your argument a disservice. The truth is that today Mass Effect is more relevant then Zelda, and it's not like we did not have some Zelda games this generation.
You can't just say a series has a great past to try and convince people it's better than a more recent one. Especially when the poll is considering only the past 10 years.

Still needs about 300 more votes to pull even with GTA. I'm reminded how Fallout beat Assassin's Creed by literally 19 votes. Do not want a repeat of that

Well what do you expect? Fallout only beat Assassain's Creed by a tenth of a percent, Gamespot's readers have absolutely no taste.Pyce wrote...
Mass Effect always get to the last rounds on Gamespot but always gets beat by a game that just came out or is coming out.
