Just wondering if the rest of BSN are strategy gamers too. I'm one at heart.

EU IV is a masterpiece. ^_^

Well, I guess not many out there then.

BioWare knows their target audience best, I suppose. "This isn't about strategy or tactics." :pinched:

Yes.

I'm getting it. It is definitely easier than Crusader Kings II.

Well grand strategies are a niche market. Definitely picking it up if anything it will make the wait for Pokémon so much easier.

Yeah. Paradox is pretty much the only maker of grand strategies now. Fortunately they're good at it.

I'm not really into the genre, but for those that are I think this is about as good as it gets.

Might get this, Civ V, or Enchantress. Haven't decided.

Well, my Swedish viking-bro has assured me this game is a load of fun like Crusader Kings 2 - Will probably get it whenever it's on sale on Steam. :D

That's me!

So i'm like 2 years away from completing my first game and good grief do this game do so many things right.
Obviously the game got it's flaws and that some balance and such might be needed to some areas but this is one of the better games that Paradox has released. It do tons of things right and not that many things do i have any issue with which is something i didn't expect. EU IV has reached and eclipsed my expectations by miles and i can only see this game get better and better

I want to play it... but I either need to upgrade my computer or buy a new desktop. And I don't have the money for that. So far I just settle watching quill18's videos on that game.

I think EUIV has less systems requirements than say, ME3. Much less graphics, for one thing.

I am probably going to pick this up if it really is a good as you're all saying.
I regularly come together with some friends to play EU and HOI (both vanilla and some massively heavy modded versions) over lan so we should have some fun with this one as well.

That's actually pretty funny :wizard:.

The last couple of Paradox's releases kind of soured me.  Victoria 2 was disappointing and EU3 made a mistake going away from actual historical events.  Would you say EU4 is more like EU3 or EU2?

Missions and Decisions are all nation-specific and historical. Some of them are new to EU4.

The generic random events are more or less realistic and their effects much smaller in comparison to Missions and Decisions IMO.

IMO the only complex thing in this game is diplomacy. The rest are either no-brainers, or don't matter much (you can do whatever you like).

And rebellions. They are not complex per se, just bugged. In more ways than one.

I am hoping to get Europa Universalis IV, seem great to spend weekends  weeks playing it. Since my passion of historical strategy games commands me to get it, I will gladly.

Looking forward to command the fates of my beloved Portugal, so often cast aside in historical estrategy games.

Why play Portugal when you can play England or Castille? :)

That said, Portugal is usually my most loyal ally precisely because I like to play England and Castille.

Nothing is quite so satisfying as building a intricate web of alliances across Europe for a 100 year master plan of carving France into four disjoint pieces. Or giving Burgundy a thorough beating once every decade but never killing it outright because the walking corpse of Burgundy is all that's keeping Austria in check.

As England it's a mighty challenge to maintain an alliance with Austria, the HRE emperor and a competitor for world domination (me, Austria, and Ottomans are usually top 3).

And then suddenly "Austria has entered a personal union with England!" My face:

I think the 18th century map of North America (the one with English territories completely surrounded by France) is inaccurate. Did France capture all the regions between Quebec and Louisiana in curve shape?
