I hope their body models will be just as well-made and have belieavable proportions
And wear shoes, for God's sake, give them back their shoes

I'm indifferent. I've never been a big fan of elves in any fantasy setting, personally.

Personally I'm really happy. Think the female elf in particular looks beautiful. They no longer look like humans with pointed ears like in DAO or anorexic like in DA2. What are your thoughts?

I dislike them, their features don't mesh, they look like a middle ground to appease the whiners while still fitting with their creative vision. I would prefer they kept the acqueline noses of DA2's elves,

I would like it if they simply made them look like the da2 concept art elves:  http://images4.wikia...6/Da2_races.jpg

I think they are beautiful.....but I agree, wish they were still a little more 'other' looking.
And why such a big diff between the F!elf and M!elf ears? Are even ears customisable? (instead of just size....being able to pick some pre-set shapes? or is it a diff between a city and dalish elf?)

And as for the concept art...I always get fixated on the total weirdness of the F!Humans legs....looks like she's got a massive case of the rickets.

I'm fine with this. The ones in DA2 actually creeped me out.

Agree about the rickets, lol. But then, I've come to expect to dislike female body models/animations in games enough that I can't play them at all. DA:O was a rare exception, but the character still lacked in any of the muscle definition that's a prerequisite for male 'heroes.' I always wondered how she lifted a fork, let alone a sword and shield.

I'd have to say I've liked the elves in DA1, but I liked the elves in DA2 more. These new models look great too.

I'm happy with the "new" image of the elves. Elves in DA 2 look like anorectic skeletons unfortunately. Fenris with a two-handed weapon looks oddly. How could he have the strength to wield such a weapon? Probably the only real answer are markings of lyrium on his skin. Or he's just a figure from the world of Final Fantasy.

Anyway, I have nothing against the elves got something to eat.

I know what you mean....that's one thing I've really liked about both the DA and ME series. Is that the female body model isn't weirdly disproportionate AND that the armor is comparable for both F and M characters. And agreeed.....soldier class women should be more 'meaty'....if she's weilding a rapier....then fine, but a big assed sword and heavy armor ....eh.

When my husband first saw Aveline he was like "Those ARMS!!!! Posted Image" And then got pissed off she wasn't a romance option.....and that he went through and set her up with Donnic. After that he never lets them get together. Even today, a year after his last DA2 playthrough....he still hates Donnic.

LOL! My Hawke definitely had a thing for Aveline, which actually made the whole set up and flirt options with her work very well. It was quite sad and bittersweet at the same time, because my Hawke was quite isolated in many ways--and it made the waiting around in the tavern with Donnic hilariously awkward.

I like them. My image of a male elf wouldn't look like him though.

Much better, than the uncanny mutant freaks of DA2

I couldn't care less. Even if I found DA2's elves particularly repulsive (and I didn't), I don't expect Bioware to make every character 'pretty'.

I find the female human looks better, elf is too broad faced (less attractive and less elf like imo)./response

I personally preferred the elves in DA 2, All of the elves that carried over from origins looked better. I mean, I lol'd out loud when zevran said elves were chosen for their beauty when he looked like this:   http://leviathyn.com...on.age_.004.jpg The only DA:O elf I found attractive was Shianna, who was completely indistinguishable from a human.
DA2>DA:I>DA:O

Anyways, they are definitely better than DA:O elves, but hell, that isn't saying much; DA2 elves are still superior. I didn't find they were done perfectly, but I was hoping DA:I would capture the concept art better. Anyhow, I'm a little disappointed at Bioware's flip flopping in it's creative design, it's sad when the "I want everything to be conventionally pretty!" crowd get their way, when instead they should just go play JRPGs and leave the design choices to the artists. having said all that..I did hate the elf bodies in 2, those giraffe necks and non existant shoulders..terrible, also hope the elves are in between humans and dwarves height wise like they were in DA:O.

I hope the Elder Scrolls doesn't follow in the trend of generic, uninspired fantasy race design..   http://2.bp.blogspot...smer female.png   Oh ****..Lowest common denominator strikes again..

DA:I elves look miles better than DA2's elf design. Now I have no problem with taking an unusual approach to established fantasy races, like turning the traditionally pretty elves into mutant scarecrows, but it caused a huge disconnect in DA2 because the game pretended (and asked the player to pretend) that the redesigned elves were also beautiful. When I first entered the Blooming Rose, I was honestly wondering who was supposed to pay whom.

They look good so far. Will have to see them in-game before I decide if I like them or not.

When I think of elves, I think of short, skinny and everything pointy. Pointy eyes, ears nose and chin.
These still look too human, but they do look better than DA2 elves. I too love the bigger eyes and irises.

Weak argument, there is a dwarf in the blooming rose, because he's there I assume I'm supposed to find him attractive, as well as every other hooker. It's not a flaw that I didn't, the only prostitute I remember either way was the elf tranny, which I don't think counts.

Tertiary characters are a weak argument. When it comes down to it, I find Merril vastly more attractive than Isabella and avelline.

Agreed, which is why I still think the concept art for DA2 has the best elves, whereas the game seemed to fail to capture them. I wouldn't mind if they went less :alien:, but as is they seem to be wider faced with rounder noses than the humans, which is a complete 180.

Actually the only thing I didn't like about the DA2 elves, were their noses, they were too straight, and not very elflike at all to me.

There were a few legitimate complaints about DA2.

The elf remake was not one of them. DA2 elves actually looked different.

This? This just looks like humans with pointy ears again.

Where is the connection between the presence of a dwarf and the severe lack of attractiveness of all the female elves at the Blooming Rose? No, you may not be expected to find the dwarf attractive, but you know, maybe the place has dwarven customers too? The game never states that humans find dwarves attractive, but it does so for elves, and the reality of the game does not match the statements it makes there.

Tertiary characters represent the "average" of the race in question, elves in this case. The game states that elves are attractive to humans, so the average elf should be just that, but obviously, clearly, isn't.

Merril was specially designed to be a romance and more attractive than the average elf. But why is that so? Because she's suffering *less* from the elven redesign. Her ears don't have the same angle, she doesn't have the obvious shark fin nose that many "average" elves have, and her giraffe neck is cleverly hidden under that scarf.

The 'game' never states any such thing. Zevran said once that elves have a reputation as beautiful individuals. Anyone who's experienced highschool should know full well that 'reputation' is not the same as 'actual objective truth'.

And since Thedas is a fantasy world, it's not beholden to the beauty standards of any real-world audience.

Well, they don't all look like reject JRPG characters or creepy bug-eyed monsters so that's a start.

No I only know of one character that goes on about elven beauty, and he's a perverted degenerate murderer. Yes, and maybe there are elven costumers as well, and I see no reason that humans wouldn't find the elves attractive just because you don't. I reloaded that part of the game just to see if I agreed with you, the only one I found ugly was the 50p elf. Elf females are small and much more feminine than humans. Their features are gracile and straight, their eyes are exotic, large, and reflective. You may not find those things attractive, but nor did I find the broad mannish features of Idunna: http://images3.wikia...7/7a/Idunna.jpg  or Isabella attractive. Any comments relating to the neck are irrelevant to me as I already went out of my way to acknowledge that the bodies were unsatisfactory. Anyways I completely disagree with your statement about elven beauty, the game has never made a big deal about it. The new elves are as good a design as Tali's real face in ME3.

This is a fantasy game, it's utterly dull that the fantasy races are less diverse than real life hominids.
