Hello all,  I've recently returned to Neverwinter Nights having left the scene shortly after Anchordeep originally went down. I'm working on a new PW using the vault version of Anchordeep and I am in need of some experienced advice from the veteran builders / community content people.

First and foremost, the PW module I'm working on is completely free of any .hak files, the module supports SOU/HOTU only.  Being that the module has hundreds of areas already in it, the first thing I've set out to do is to replace these areas with my own, one at a time.  But before I really get deeply committed to doing this, I'm wondering if over the years, the tilesets have been improved graphically and where to get them?

Since the world I'm building will include a rather diverse geography ranging from deserts to winter wastelands, I want to make sure I grab the best looking and least bug ridden tilesets I can to start with, so that I can build the world from the ground up.

If anyone has suggestions, or links to the tilesets and/or bundled tileset paks, please let me know.

Just to make sure I understand what you just said, you are rebuilding a PW that is *currently* hak free, and looking to add tilesets (haks) to enhance it, right?

I started a catalog of tilesets based on Skunkeen's great list, but I haven't got back to it in several months. That's a place to start, though.

Also hit the new Vault with a search for tilesets.

Generally, the newest and best stuff is only being discussed here, though, and may not yet be actually released.

My personal recommendation is to start with the CTP, and the tilesets still being actively improved by T0r0 & Zwerkules.

Also certain tilesets by  Baba Yaga,  Lord of Worms (espesh Undersea), Senemenela (Seasonal) and Six (Dwarven ChasmsWildlands) are fantastic, though not showing much activity.

For more specific advice, just ask

Project Q has several improvements to existing tilesets - especially the 1.69 Castle Exterior, not to mention numerous other graphical improvements. Q also offers several high quality tilesets you won't find anywhere else.

In addition to the ones Rolo listed above you might also want to check out Tom Banjo's forest override and any of the tilesets by Sixesthrice.

That's correct Rolo, thank you for the advice, I'll check out the links you've sent and see if I can't find something as an appropriate starting point to the rebuild.  The Anchordeep release was nice, I, along with dozens of others put a good amount of time and effort into getting that PW where it's at, granted the vault release of it is -not- the latest and greatest, but it's a good starting point.

My current plan of action is to gleen what I can out of the areas on the old module, mostly the scripting, and then to eventually tear out all of the current areas and replace them with new areas that reflect my world layout and theme instead. Anchordeep had a massive amount of custom stuff however, so I'm taking my time and making sure I don't pull anything out of the module until I have those scripts and the content in on a new area. I was particularly fond of 69_Jeremy_69's vision on certain features like the arena, the speakeasy, and several other things, that I definitely feel need to be preserved.

It's too bad he's not around still, I'd love to talk to him about a joint venture, maybe rekindling that spark that brought the team together and helped build Anchordeep.

Checked them out, I did like quite a bit in there, so that may become a possibility.  What I am actively looking for right now however, is more or less focused on geographical features, rolling hills, snow covered mountains and plains, improved desert landscaping, possibly better urban tilesets for improved villages and roadways, and things of that nature.  While I do enjoy the original tilesets for nostalgia purposes, most players seem to prefer the updated and improved tilesets.

Being that my project is going to be a PvE / Roleplay optional server, I'm going to have to be a little picky on what I add and it has to cater to the roleplayers out there as well.

If I had to pick just one single tileset that I woud consider a must-have (even though my initial mods will be predominantly arboreal) it would be Zwerk's Medieval City.

Although he says Arabian Nights is his best work to date, the entire ambiance of MC clicks with me and NwN. Although I haven't release a single mod with it (yet), it is my single favorite tileset.

That said, I like so many others so well, that I could never pick a single #2 :-/

It sounds to me like you'll eventually go the root of most PWs - customized haks specific to that project (probably best for design purposes anyway). This is essentially what I'm doing for my LAN Module. I started out with Project Q as a base set of haks then have integrated content that I needed or wanted from either the vault or my own creations.

WoRm's Seasonal Forest and Sen's Seasonal Workshop (Link: See Rolo's first reply) are very beautiful tilesets (IMO). BUT if you go for them, keep in mind, that these are huge tilesets! An area on PC with 2 GIGs of RAM takes about 50 seconds to load in a (PW-setting and did not load at all on my elderly PC, which has less than 1 GIG of RAM). The more RAM the faster it loads (with 8 GIGs, it doesn't really matter anymore). Since I use these in A PW mod, I created a seperated version, which reduces the loading time on elderly PCs (even mine does load those areas):

I do have a newer version here, which conatins some more fixes and additions. ATM it's only published within the HAKs of "my" PW-project. If there is the need, I'll try to publish it as a seperate download ASAP.

<checking his middle...>

A Seasonal-Lite version would be welcome, for me at any rate :-)
I keep meaning to run all my favorite old tilesets through CM3.5... just never get around to it ;-(

Since Rolo took an intrest:
Finally I managed to put together an updated version of the "seperated seasons"!
ATM, you can get this updated version (0.91) only here:
http://neverwinterva...m-sen-seperated

(I have not updated the old-vault version - that is still version 0.90)
