What was the most emotional scene in Mass Effect for all of you?

For me it was after beating Soveriegn and the wreckage hitting the Citideal Tower playing it the first time around. I almost cried when I thought my Shepard was killed.Posted Image

When Shephard comes running out of the wreckage and Anderson and the squadmates see him, The music swells and you sit there on your couch thinking, "Hells yea, I'm bad ass!"

For me it had to be on top of the base in Virmire with Kaiden and Ashley telling you to save the other. It SUCKED having to choose.

I liked the speech you got to control when you're first setting out in charge of the Normandy. When Udina got punched on my first playthrough, I was pretty stoked about that too. My all-time favorite was probably the time I met Sovereign for the first time. Those are my top 3. =]

Yeah I never saw that coming.  Very hard decision to make.

Hell yeah, I especially liked his smug face at the end.

Other than that, that CRIMINALLY short confrontation with Wrex when you can almost see the tension when he and Shepard have one another at a gunpoint. Oh, and Salarian's speech... that was one of the those rare moments probably that was 100% meant to be epic.

Saren killing himself.
Your teammates thinking you're dead.

I know most people feel that death scenes are the most emotional -- so I'm going to talk about a couple that aren't death scenes:

Talitha (I Remember Me quest) -- easily the most emotional moment in the game for me. You only get this assignment if your background is Colonist. What did this for me was the voice actress for Talitha -- pretty gut-wrenching without overacting. Just genuine sadness & torment. Compare this with Corporal Toombs (in the Deat Scientists quest) -- Toombs' dialogue and voice-acting doesn't compare to Talitha's.

Heated-exchange on Normany between your crew before landing on Ilos -- I loved the intensity and desperation in the voices of your squad and Navigator Pressly. They're all arguing about where to drop the Mako on Ilos, and how they can/can't do it close to Saren. FINALLY some frustration, desperation and intensity -- we're trying to save the trillions of lives in the universe, let's act like it. It's not a vacation!

Those two stand out for me (aside from the deaths).

The most emotional screen for me was when you first get command of the Normandy and give the speak to your crew.

Main story: Things did not really pick up until after Virmire in terms of being emotionally connected to the story.

Side-quests: Dr. Wayne and Corporal Toombs; Garrus

I think it was the renegade ending, when Udina was giving the climactic speech that is supposed to segue into the next game. The music was dramatic, and he said "We will drive the reapers back into dark space!" with a clenched fist as the camera zoomed to his face. It wasn't too emotional, but it got me excited for the sequel so I think that it had the most visceral impact on me.

I agree with this one.  I felt bad for her, and it kind of touched me.

I thought the death of Matriarch Benezia was pretty emotional. Not that emotional, but when she said she wasn't seeing "the light," I felt really sorry for her. Seriously. I wished she could have lived.

Plus what everyone else said.

I thought the whole ending sequence was very well done, so were the confrontations with Wex on Virmire, Kirrahe's speech, and finally both confrontations with Saren. If I had to choose though I'd have to go with the ending. The musical score goes perfectly with the battle as it wraps up and Udina gives a great speech if you go Renegade.

Probably the confrontation between Shep and Wrex and Captain Kirrahe's speech on Virmire. That whole planet was a mind f.

Also kind of weird but talking to Vigil on Ilos got me worked up. It was awesome.

For me, it was probably the showdown with Balak at the end of the Bring Down the Sky DLC. That was a damn tough choice to make, and I felt regret that I had to sacrifice a few to save many.

And as people have previously said, the Talitha scene was also a very emotional moment in the game. It was, in my opinion, the best background quest out of the three.

Picking who I wanted to make love to. I mean, Ashley and Liara come out of nowhere and ambush me. I had to use my tactic skills to pick the perfect woman. That was a tough choice. Very sad day.

Probably the spectre induction scene, the music, the crowds looking upon the first Human spectre, that scene gave me chills.

I'd have to say post virmire mission debriefing. The love theme plays softly, and my Femshep sacrificed Kaiden and romanced Liara.

There was just a touch of sadness in Ash's voice, and for some reason I see Shepard being the older mentor (they're 4-5 years apart right?) something with Hale's VA when you pick "Ash, do you want to be a matyr?"

Ash's mumbled "no ma'am...." really made me think.

I'm gonna have to say... when I became a Spectre.  ME was/is my first gaming experience, so when I hit that scene I kinda felt just like Shep- I'd accomplished something.  Corny, I know, but I actually stood up when the Asari asked everyone to 'please rise'.  I was like... yeah, baby!  And of course, when I came stumbling out of the wreckage at the end.  "Who's your daddy!  Bow before me!"

Yeah, I was pretty excited for having actually finishing an adult level game all by myself!

Whenever I chose to sacrifice Ash and chose the Renegade option. My Shep and Ash both knew only Kaidan or Ash was getting outta there. The way Shepard says "Fight hard, Chief. Die proud." is pretty sad, IMO.

When I first had to choose between Ash and Kaiden. Also, after I chose Ash, and told Kaiden I would come back to him.

"We both know that's not gonna happen." (Something like that)
