Qunari are just big grey people with horns, square jaws and very low eyebrows.

That's completely irrelevant. We're talking about elves, not the qunari, understood?

People are complaining that the new elves are just skinny humans with point ears I'm doing the same for the Qunari, was that hard to understand? Did my comment simply fly over your head?

If we all think like this then the same can be said for any non-human. It's how they are written that makes them different to Humans.

Because they were arguing to keep the DA2 design when so many of us didn't like it and they have opinion inertia, maybe? I dunno.

I think the DA:I elves look fantastic. :D There are definite racial differences apart from the ears, but being different doesn't have to mean looking like emaciated cattle. Elves are supposed to be attractive as a race, maybe a little bit otherworldly but not plain alien. Personally I've always preferred the Norse version. Lithe, predatory, independent. There's a sense of regality along with the mysticism. Regardless of their social stature in the game world, that's what elves are to me. I do like how their ears have retained more of the backward angle than a straight up, kinda Christmas elf look. They look good. I can identify with these elves.

Zevran looked like a Mr. Potato Head with hair in DA2. I'd chalk up the complaining to poor eyesight, because if it was anything else, I'd fear for humanity.

I liked them either way- DA2 I liked the eyes but their face shape made them all kinda resemble each other, DAI I like the redesign and can't wait to create one in character creator but I wish they had kept the large eyes- so I will design mine to have big eyes. Also I don't get why they are talking about how much they don't like the male elf - he's a template you can redesign him.

Because some people are not happy unless they are complaining about something.

Male reveal elf and male reveal human both kind of have the smug yokel thing going on, but it just shows that there's a lot of facial expression now. Those faces now look more.. alive than I've ever seen in a BioWare game. It's not like our designed characters will all have the same air or carry around the same expression all the time. I don't get complaining about that.

That's simple. There is no such thing as an idea that satisfies everyone. That is simply a myth. There isn't a statement or opinion that can be made that someone won't disagree.

In fact, some of you out there just read my previous statement and said... wait.. that's not true!

Seriously OP, why do you care? Elves apparently look the way you want them to, so what does it matter?

People will complain about anything, especially around here. It's just my opinion, but honestly, I hated the scrawny donkey-people they called "elves" in DA2, and I really love the new look. It actually looks elven.

If people truly want something visually "different" than the archetypical fantasy races, they should just go play argonians and kajiit in the Elder Scrolls games.

Ever since Bioware released screenshots of how the races looked some people have been complaining about the elves saying they look like "humans with pointy ears".

Well duh! Of course the elves would look like humans since that's how they have always looked since their conception,I don't see people complaining about how dwarves are short and stocky humans who live underground and have a penchant for drinking, smithing, and fighting.

I don't see people asking for dwarves to be changed just to make some sort of statement so why are elves targeted?

THANK  YOU!!

That's what I want to know! Image IPB

I didn't think it was possible to make yourself sound superior to the people that do something, and then do the exact same thing as them at the same time! Impressive.

I like the DA:2 elves. However, as the topic I started a couple of days before has proven, there's really no constructive discussion that can come from the subject.

You have people stating their opinions, and people having opinions about those opinions and the people that have them, and then it starts to get really nasty.

I had no idea so many people hated the DA2 elf design. I really liked that they were made to look a little bit alien and much more distinct from humans, just like I love how Qunari are now much more bull-like and less like really tall guys. I actually tried to make my city elf in Origins look a little more like the DA2 ones by giving her unnaturally big eyes.

These ones look interesting, but it's honestly hard to have a strong opinion about an uncolored bust. I'm glad they didn't completely dial back the DA2 look, at least.

@Ellorgast

I did exactly the same thing in Origins. I created a new Dalish character and gave her the largest possible ears and over-sized eyes that slanted upwards. I was quite pleased with the results.

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of the Inquisition elves? I haven't seen them yet.

For example, I'd like them not to be bearded, short and stocky.

They'll be called dwarfs as they are larger in stature than the other races, who's intelligence also dwarfs all else, while being well kempt mountain dwelling, champagne drinking scholars who pay members of the other races to mine their real estate as they're claustrophobic.

I like it.
