You can never have too many awesome-looking armors.

After seeing some of the cool stuff in one of the recent videos, I'm fully confident that the artist for DAI will come up with quite a few must haves for my character.

Dragon Age has had a notorious lack of hoods thus far.

As noted in another topic, the N7 armour would be awesome to have in Inquisition. And after having the "Ser Isaac of Clarke" armour in DA2, I doubt people will complain for Shepard's armour being too futuristic for Thedas.

As for armour itself, the Mage Inquisitor need to have something like the Champion Armour for Mage Hawke. I don't know why, but the hodge-podge nature of the armour is really appealing; like the ragged tail-coat that was visibly fraying and covered in holes. The armour looked so more battleworn than the other sets, you really got the sense that this was an armour that was constantly subjected to punishment on a regular basis.

The Blood Dragon Armour needs to come back, but maybe made a bit less bulky and more fitted this time around? That armour and the other massive armour in Origins never made much sense to me, given that we were dealing with muddy old Ferelden and going constantly over cross country. I always pictured the Warriors in the party having to stop every once and a while and pull each other out of the mud.

Eh. Xena armor tends to rile up the fema brigade.

Take this and apply it to a Bronto.

There are some pretty good armor mods from the previous DA games.
They look better than the game default.
With the layoffs it's questionable how much time they can afford to put into armor designs.

For mages, less matronly garments. Can we bring mages into the modern century? They look like devout sisters of the Chantry. Male mages should wear like a long flowy coat and lots of neck jewelry. Maybe two or three different sashes/belts. Tights. Long boots. The women should be able to flash some leg for goodness sake. I'd like to see a female mage in a tight buttoned-up jacket with a corset, a cage-wire skirt with stockings and pointed heeled ankle-length boots.

I liked the college robes in Skyrim.

Something similar for mages in DAI would be cool.

Armor that looks practical and is inspired by real historical designs.

There should be no weird spikes coming out of the armor for no apparent reason, and no pauldrons of ridiculousness. The designs should look pragmatic rather than silly. Unfortunately most RPGs completely fail in that regard.

These are all a good starting point:

Best Bioware Armour Ever. So let me wear it for more than the prologue this time.

Generally I like my armour to be simple and look like steel rather than be some other colour. Shiny is good though.

+1 Definitely and by far the best armor in a Bioware Game. I loved it.

What armor I want in DAI? I'd like to see more medium armor, especially scale and scale-leather - chainmail combinations, like this:

Something like this (from a DAO mod that imports armors from Witcher 2):

imageshack.us/photo/my-images/17/tnzk.jpg/

For me, the look of armor is very important - much more than romances, for instance. DA2 had somewhat better armor than DAO, although I didn't care for any of the Champion armors. Some of the concept art for DA3 looks promising, which is important since it doesn't sound promising for any potential mods. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

It's 'understated' by BioWare and general CRPG standards, and that's why it looks businesslike. It's not a very good example of armour, though. Then again, it is no worse than much of Hollywood's stuff.
At least you don't look like a clown in this armour...;)

Agree on the shiny. But a bit of 'blued' steel or cloth over armour is also nice.

And so is a nicely colourful brigandine...

Here's how one looks on the inside:

Point is, 'real-feeling' armour doesn't have to look plain, although I also favour being able to choose whether one wears good but 'simple' armour or a good but fancy-looking set. It's two different ways of dressing like a badass.

Anyway, looks as if we are going to get 'understated end of the spectrum' generic fantasy armour .
Which is okay for DA I guess.

But my main concern is not with the armour, it's with the weaponry. And the sword/daggers I have seen in Gameinformer footage does not look promising at all.

I think Dragon Age 2 was right on the money with the Fugitive's Mantle from the Mage pack.

It's simple, low key, lightly armoured and looks a lot better than the "dresses" everyone else wears.

Agree!
I havent seen any da3 weapons but hawke DLC weapons were HORRIBLE.

Lets hope  Bioware make some normal looking swords+daggers and stop making ridiculous weapons.

16th century but as mix and match is being applied already, this would be a nice Orlesian helmet:

As horses are being introduced in the game this Spanish horse helmet would look great.

Its not only understated by Bioware standards, it also misses common features that makes armor in fantasy RPGs unusable and stupid looking. Even though its not perfect by any means the design is functional and this alone makes it my favorite armor of the game.
 ^_^

Also I'd like to see some real chain mail for once. Nowadays fantasy RPGs lack normal chainmail in their assortment. Chainmail hauberk:

I will never, ever understand why any of those designs are supposed to look good. I appreciate that they're practical and functional, but good? Bleh.
