Because for every one person who likes medieval/renaissance stuff, there's like five people who think it's "totally gay."

But what I'd like to see is option to be able to color your armor up!
Hm and I know a lot of people might hate this suggestion, as they'd proably like to recycle their armor every second of the game. But Mass Effect did a great job at armor customization. For Dragon age, how about we could use crafting to upgrade armor pieces? You need certain materials and then put them to the armor and they get upgraded? They would give you new appearance options while at it, but you could stick to the armor you find visualy the best, while keeping the best stats.
Because that would give us the best of both worlds. You could use the pieces of armor you'd like and have the upgrade hunt going.

Really - I'd like to see some stuff like what was in DAO's concept art, namely the original designs for Alistair, Leliana and Zevran (although I think some of Zev's look from then got adapted into the more savage-looking mage robes in DAO, namely the exposed pecs). If what gameplay footage of DAI I've seen is any indication, the new engine can certainly handle proper cloaks now.
Kind of hoping for more weapon-like mage's staves, like DA2 had - namely the Staff of Parlathan (the one Hawke used in the Destiny trailer when fighting the Arishok, mystic-looking red ball on one end, two-foot-plus blade on the other).
Although I have to say that I do like the more stylised look of the armours in 2 - since when has heroic fantasy, even darker ones like this or The Witcher, bothered with practicality and realism? Although did the breastplate bit of the Robes of the Champion really need to stick out that far? One cutscene in Legacy made it seem like Hawke couldn't see what he was doing with that thing in the way.

If they bring back the Arcane Warrior, I would like my human mage to look somehow like this

Thumbs up for oriental armours, though, especially dem sexy steppe cataphracts of antiquity.
Speaking of oriental get-ups:
(Saw the latter in the Army Museum in Berlin myself, btw.)

(Given the rose symbolism, I'm tempted to see this as Leliana if she did some Loghain style class switching)
