Both DA:O and DA2 left me wanting for a nice set of Templar armor. Since the Templars are very interesting and very plot-related group, it would be great to have some high-level set of heavy armor.

I mean, it seemed so obvious so I was wondering "why isn't it there". I know there are some obtainable chestplates, but to get helmets, boots, gloves and shields you are to hope for a random drop at only several of the game's locations (i've never got any luck getting templar armor parts in the shops and I don't feel like save/loading). So yeah, would be much appreciated.

Same fits for the armors of other distinctive groups that are important to the plot. Agree about the Dalish, but as elves are playable once again, there surely will be some related armor.

The simplified enchanting system introduced in DA2 leads me to hope that player will have more options at customizing his armor. You know that feeling when you get a really good-looking armor, but it is far to inferior to some other, less attractive ones. Not saying DA should be like Skyrim where you can craft anything you want and enchant it any way you like, but still :)

I share your appreciation for the Templars and their armor. However, I would feel weird having my player character wear the uniform of a group he does not belong to. The Grey Warden armor for a warrior from the Legacy DLC was absolutely gorgeous, but it did feel weird having Hawke wear it.

It has been posted before, but I just wanted to repeat that I'd love for something similar to this helmet to be in the game:

I want more hoods for rogues/mages. Hoods are awesome.

And solid plate for my warriors.

Another one: the heavy armor is nonsense, but the leather is nice (which it was a mage armor), sexy mage armors... Hard to find PANTS for mages it seems lol

If I could have all the above male outfits made for a female body, I would be so happy.  I hate it when the male version is so cool and heroic and the female version contains 10% of the armor coverage.  They look like generic cocktail dresses with a couple accessories from the male's outfit splashed around.

BUT, and this is going to be the one thing I requested: I love the glowing gems!  More glowing pieces on armor!  I love the Blood Dragon armor in DA:O precisely because you walk around with ridiculous glowing eyes on your chestplate.  I also desperately miss having visible elemental enchantments on your weapons, but if I can't have a sword covered in lightning, please at least give me armor with glowing gems.

I agree, and I think it works as proof that a character wearing realistic armor doesn't necessarily have to look drab or boring. Armor designs with pragmatic or realistic armors used as the basis, can look just as good (if not better) than some of the more outlandish ones.

I loved the Highwayman and Bandit looks for women in Fable 3...and yes, I know they are from an entirely different franchise, but I loved the idea of the tricorn hat, torn solider's coat and boots being held together by strips of cloth with the black denim-like pants with the belt with a big belt buckle...I think they'd be a good look for a rogue. Not the exact look, mind you, just something like that.  **the forum wouldn't allow me to link the pics**

For both armour and weapons, I would like to see more realistic, practical, and realistically ornamented examples. They have at least been improving in the area of having female armour not be ridiculous, but there's still some room for improvement there (as it really is all just armour, and there need not be two whole separate versions). Incredibly huge pauldrons and spiky things for no apparent reason need to go.

I'm fine with a any sort of onarmentation that does not detract from the overall usefulness of the armour, and there are plenty of ways to do that -- blueing, tracery, inlays, and accessories such as plumes, tabards, and the like, to name some. Fancifully sculpted helms are fine, too. What I'd most like to see in rarer or more powerful suits of armour is that they still look very grounded and protective, but are suitably embellished to look interesting as well (which is, again, easily possible with realistic armour).

Exaggerated fantasy armour mostly just ends up looking silly to me, and it annoys me quite a bit whenever a suit of armour looks different (and nearly without exception worse) on female characters than on male characters.

Specifically looking within the previous two Dragon Age games, the massive armour sets in Origins were fairly decent (if one were to fix the pauldron issue and a few others), and some of the earlier suits of armour in Dragon Age II weren't bad.

Some examples of embellished or decorated suits of armour:

I don't care so much about mage robes and such, but I think those could be interestingly varied according to different cultures.

As noted in another topic, the N7 armour would be awesome to have in Inquisition. And after having the "Ser Isaac of Clarke" armour in DA2, I doubt people will complain for Shepard's armour being too futuristic for Thedas.

As for armour itself, the Mage Inquisitor need to have something like the Champion Armour for Mage Hawke. I don't know why, but the hodge-podge nature of the armour is really appealing; like the ragged tail-coat that was visibly fraying and covered in holes. The armour looked so more battleworn than the other sets, you really got the sense that this was an armour that was constantly subjected to punishment on a regular basis.

The Blood Dragon Armour needs to come back, but maybe made a bit less bulky and more fitted this time around? That armour and the other massive armour in Origins never made much sense to me, given that we were dealing with muddy old Ferelden and going constantly over cross country. I always pictured the Warriors in the party having to stop every once and a while and pull each other out of the mud.

OMG YES!!! That looks awsome! hehehehe, I can just imagen Alistair/Sten/Oghren getting stuck and the rest having to pull them out!

Also: the mass effec armour is in dead space 3!

DAI has definitely come up with some fantastic armor concepts. And with all the customization options... :wizard:

Yeah, they have gotten alot better since DA:O. but I can honestly live without the "pimp hat", unless the hide helmet option returns. All the awsomeness, none of the ugly! :)

We know that mages can wear heavy armor, so I would love something like this

If they bring back the Arcane Warrior, I would like my human mage to look somehow like this

He looks badass! I realy hope arcane worrior returns, or something similar since we only get to have one specialisation.

For those of you who like "boobie armour", this Deviant Art artist (see link) made a rather poignant point :P
I think the character's face says it all.

Two things :

1) different armor styles for every race. I mean, i don't like see elves, qunari and dwarves wear the same kind of humans armors. I've read somwhere that the same armor will look different on each companion, based on his/her class/race... so i've high hopes! :D

2) please, please, please... it's 2014, i think we have seen enough mage robe's in our lives... let them die :P I don't want a priest or a nun in the middle of the battlefield!

No boob cups for women, armours are not made for support. and yea armour that actually looks like it protects and look like real historical examples- particularly the beautiful suits of plate in museums.

and don't shave people's hair off or replace their faces with black holes when you put a covered helm on.
