Wearing full body armor won't save you from arrows either...if reality is anything to go by.

 

Movie (and videogame) armour never stops arrows, unless the script asks for it. Which in Boromir's case, unfortunately, wasn't the case. 

Doesn't matter whether you're just wearing a gambeson or full 16th century bulletproof plate armour, even a peashooter will penetrate it if that's what the script says.

 

Plot armour, now that's what you want.

I belive you, I'm just tired of everyone saying that fantasy games shouldn't have skimpy armor because it's not practical or unrealistic. But being a frontline warrior in heavy plate armor is not the only way to play this or any other fantasy game. You can also be a stealthy rouge, or an archer. They don't need overprotective armor, their trait is not getting hit at all or move fast, and then they could easily wear attire like these:

Out of all seriousness though, I do hope that armors based on the races of Thedas are far more distinct than they were in previous games, despite Dwarves being known for being master smiths who crap imagination out the ass, not many, save for the legion of the dead or the dwarven massive armor set, standout or even remotely look impressive, or elvish armor, Dalish in particular, has no real distinct look other than being green, get wild like the nature around them. I definitely hope the armors are more diverse in style than before.
