Yes, but its still better than certain death from hypothermia though. Or getting fried in a desert till your skin peels off. People have been running around in very cold weather and in very hot weather in full plate armor, and while it was very awful to wear armor that trapped heat and cold they fought battles in those weather conditions. Though very few people run around on mountain tops or desert while wearing nothing but a skimpy cocktail dress. Or not for very long.

I'm done with the realism angle because it's not the overall point anyway and tired of being pulled back into that bs discussion.  It's a fricken game for people's enjoyment.  It's not meant to reflect reality, most of our movies don't reflect reality, we rarely reflect true reality, because reality fricken sucks, it's terrible, it's rotten, it's ugly and it's horrifying.  Games are one of the few places we can escape and be someone else.  I offer compromise, I ask for inclusion, I even make it only through making custom armors, but still it's "must be our vision, period."

Well screw you all then, I'm going to go sulk now because I'm tired of banging my head into the keyboard and am starting to get actually upset.  You have no idea how important my avatar is to me, and probably many others, who have a different vision than you, that you all just don't give two shits about.  For me it's about a lot more than just this ridiculous realism argument.  I like the game, I like the world, I like the kind of game it is, the characters, the roleplaying, the romances, ect, playing another game is not an option.  But I should be unhappy with my avatar and their clothes because some people demand complete realism and insist that all us women must be fricken nuns or we're somehow destroying and degrading ourselves.

I'm so frustrated right now.

Mages/Knight Enchanter should be able to summon armor, like rock armor in DA2, but cooler.

Life is a game too, and when played correctly its a lot of fun. In fact, its the game, because unlike in all the computer games in the world immersion is 100%

Sounds like you need some RL hobbies.

It may be a bit of a stretch, but I'd absolutely love to have what she is wearing in this video

I have no idea what I'm looking at, but I'm pretty sure you've just launched into a completely different genre entirely o.o

Someone posted this a while ago which I liked (minus the heels). The beehive dress reminded me of it for some reason. (this one wears a dove instead)

That is pretty :)  Is lovely and elegant.  Cut out just a bit of that cleavage (but not all of it) and cut out the heals and it'd be amazing.

The reason I like it, is it has all the elegance and beauty of a lovely dress, but is still representative of armor.   Also while the "boob" window could be lessened, the outfit is not pure sex appeal, it's mostly just pretty.  Lessen that "boob" window a little bit and It'd be perfect..

It still won't be enough, because even if the boob window was removed completely we can see she has breasts, and it seems that's not allowed.

How about you stop speaking on behalf of people whose views you haven't bothered to try and understand?

Breasts are nice, that's why they're worth protecting. How prominent they are isn't much of a consideration except that you really don't won't to let them deflect a sword blow onto the middle of the chest.

Seriously, I think if you make sure everyone has the front of their torso protected and sensible footwear you'll have most of the practical considerations taken care of. Hoplites supposedly ran into battle in light armour and skirts after all.

I like armors that are stylized (I like my characters to look fantastic ; o) but are still practical.  And from what we've seen so far it looks like there are some sets like that.  : )

Here's some examples I'd love. Probably not for a warrior, but I think it would be perfect for a rogue/mage:

I see it as a kind of knight enchanter outfit, so being a mage I don't really mind some liberties in the design, since mages evidently have enough magical abilities to avoid the pain to justify completely unprotective cloth robes. For some reason I imagine the woman in the image fights like Ghirahim from Skyward Sword (the magic and illusions, warp-dodging ranged attacks, the confident posture and the slow doom walk).

Heels I draw the line at since they're impractical not just for combat but basic locomotion.

Well, they worked in Kill la Kill

Speaking of Ghirahim-- if only men in western games could be so fab.

I know why I prefer western Games, if that is common in eastern Ones.

Color a turd and it's still a turd.  The shape of the armors alone just don't do it for me, and I hate helms.  The thing is, I recognize how important helms are, I also recognize the uses of various armors.  But other than the few rare gems, I do not find the realistic armors pleasing to look at.  I play games to enjoy myself, I'm going to be looking at my character for hundreds of hours and weeks of game play.  I do not want to be stuck in something I find ugly in my escape from reality to the realm of fantasy purely due to the desire for more realism.  I'm trying to get a vacation from reality thank you very much.  If anything highly decorated armor ends up looking gaudy and ridiculous to modern perceptions.  Some recognition of modern tastes and sensibilities are not that bad, or the recognition of cultures that weren't as big on all that armor is not a bad thing either.  Not to the exclusion of, and not to be a pervasive influence over realistic armors, but something.  We're not talking about a short game here, this will be long stretches of my life, especially with all the play throughs I intend.

And some of the people who prefer more practical or realistic designs, find the designs you like to look like a pile of sh-t. Different strokes for different folks, and all that.

What you seem to be missing is that you aren't the only one who plays games for enjoyment, nor are you the only one who doesn't want their character stuck in something they think looks awful. Some people are better able to suspend disbelief and get more enjoyment out of the game if the armor designs look realistic or practical.

Your entire post is just a long-winded way of saying, "How dare you like something I don't like!"

wouldn't say no to something like the Hound's armour.

Cullen sort of has the look down with the Lion helm, something along the lines of it for Inquisitor would be right down my alley.

Honestly I'd like something akin to the armor Corvo gets in Dishonored for my mage and/or rogue or Garretts armor in Thief for my rogue. Mainly Corvos though, it's just an epic design. Here are some links to some armor designs I'm pretty fond of (links because otherwise there would be way too many pics)

Also, inspiration should be taken from the GoT armors; the show may be butchering the books but at least it looks good while doing it.

I was thinking of Isabella in DA2, and instead of her going panstless, I would have loved to see her in something more... buccaneer than bedroom.

Wait a Second... Isabella didn't wear Pants? I always thought she'd wear some leathery Pants that had a Color close to the (somewhat strange) Color of her Skin.

Nope.

No pants.

Which is stupid considering she sits in raggedy old wooden stools most of the time. Baffled she didn't get a splinter.

It's a shame we can't do mounted warfare. Dressing up as a Saka cataphract, after the style of the Golden Warrior of Issyk, would be pretty awesome.
