You know what I'd really like to see in DAI? Helmets with masks as visors. The lion warrior in gladiator being a perfect example:

Yes, apparently this is what the men wear.

I'd be offended in solidarity but I can't stop laughing. It's like those comedy acts where they take situations into their extremes to provoke a laugh only it's real.

Nipple armor (snickers)

I'm on oxygen myself. I advise against reading any of Oglaf's webcomics right now :innocent:.

As an aside, the art for Luke Crane's kickstarter RPG, Torchbearer, looks rather interesting, at least from a 'western traditional fantasy' point of view. Those cloaks, hmmmm (okay, maybe not in purple )

Rather 'back to basics', but sometimes that's nice.

Orlesians are in love with masks.

The last ones are not really helmets but they are carried into battle.

According to the lore Orlesians use that kind of masks, so you'll probably have your wish granted :D

Yep, thats what I'm talking about, though I'd like a heavier version of it.  But since we're going to visit Orlais in DAI the odds of getting such helmet is 100%.. I remember seeing  nice examples in the Mark of the Assassin DLC:

Sorry, but that guy really looks silly. The intent is okay, but...the combination of the various elements and oversized components totally ruins it (proportions have gone totally out of the window). I think it's a prime example of some artists at BioWare thinking 'hey, let's do something with an outré Renaissance armour I googled', then throwing together some stuff but failing to create a good-looking, harmonious whole.

I still have to see them do masked helmets well...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Now, the masked headgear from Assassin's Creed, that looked nasty (loosely based on Ottoman / Persian masked helmets, no Janissary ever dressed like this as far as I know)...

Posted Image

Not only did they get the proportions much better, they also succeeded in conveying the opulent decoration.

Also, I am getting sick of those weirdly placed pieces of hip armour I see constantly. Some fantasy artist cooked them up several years ago, and they've been copying them ever since.
A degree of protection for the family jewels and the front of the legs is a rather nice thing to have, y'know...:pinched:

Pretty much how videogame armor design ussually works.

I only posted this pic because of the helmet not caring about the rest of the armor. And I would not be too harsh about the design because it appears to be mainly ceremonial armor.

That would be harder to walk in than high heels and people are supposed to fighting in them?

By way of comparison, showing how megaretarded it looks, here's King Francis I of France in precisely one of those fancy Renaissance parade armours...

Richly decorated perhaps, but it looks pretty functional and with a normal armour silhouette. It looks opulent but it's not a monument to Epic Suck.

I want female mages to be able to wear armor like Anders wore in DA2. With a split down the middle/side. Just better robes in general, maybe some tunics. I want to be an apostate who defiantly wears Mage robes because she can. But, I hope the robes aren't butt-ugly..again. It'd be awesome if certain people became hostile if the PC wore mage robes. Example; in AC2 when Ezio wore the Auditore cape, almost every town he went to became hostile. There's more examples in that series iirc, but I can't remember atm.

^ Agreed, fuctional and made to fit the actual status of the person wearing it.

For the more 'plain' look:
http://latimesblogs....7a350970b-320wi

and in full body armor this would be really nice to see.

What exactly does not look functional in that orlesian armor? If you tell me it's ugly, I'll accept that but not functional? I can't claim I'm an expert on medieval armoring but it seems to me it covers everything that needs to be covered and doesn't restrict the movements of the person wearing it.

I thought the DLC armors in DA2 were really, really good. The only problem is that they were paid, and the ones in the game weren't even close in looking that great. Only one or two.

Interesting... I like this idea. Personally, I think it would be cool to include demon/skull/animal masks as well

^ Looks like an early concept model of the Warden Commander Armour. Shoulder pads are off, but I favour the bulky ones anyway ;)
