No matter what Bioware does, you know there will be people raging about it here.

That DA:I will not be released until fall of 2015/16

This would not be an issue for me; in fact I would be relieved to hear this. A longer development time translates to a bug free deep content game. Many of the fears in this forum would disappear with this decision.

How about: They finish developing the game by the end of...(uhh when was it supposed to release? :) ) say 2014, then its waiting 2 years in some shelf while they are developing some new and fancy drm technique they want to test with this release, and its released by the  end of 2016.

Thankfully Game Tittle Development does not operate that way, an example of longer development time working favorably is DA: O its development time was nearly 6 years. DA II development was approximately One Year. (Based on data obtained from a Google search)

A short development time causes the need to cut content, in DA II the most prevalent example of this content loss was the carbon copy reuse of map zones and caves. The loss of race selection etc.

Longer development time is a positive thing for gamers; yes it takes longer for the game to release however the content and game polish of this development makes for an Epic game event.

Bolded mine.

Yes, DA2 was definitely rushed.  However, a long development time requires greater sales numbers. Iirc, DAO was Bioware's best selling game (at the time), but wasn't that profitable.

There's a sweet spot between dev time (and therefore more iterations/better quality) and sales; I hope DAI nails that.

My worries are as follows:
1. ME3 amount of autodialogue. If I'm just 5 mins into the game and it's like that, I'll quit. I play Bioware games almost solely for their (previously) excellent interactive dialogue.
2. Dumbed-down RPG elements.
3. Witcher-wannabe combat style. I want that strategic pausing to be crucial to combat.

I hope the combat will be a blend of DA2's responsiveness and DA:O's tactical excellence. New Ideas are also welcome but if they try to make it an action-game they'll fail. Bioware has consistently shown me they cannot make fresh or intuitive gameplay designs for their games. The closest they had gotten was ME1's system, but that was so flawed they felt like they had to make the other games play like Gears of War instead.

also. if the game takes less then 50 hours to complete going in a straight run through? that WILL suck

You mean like 95% of the games out there, including DAO and DA2?

Going to have to break my habit of (mostly) lurking these forums. Let' s see (not in any order):
  • The return of the nightmare-inducing, one-shotting, rogue enemy types from DAII (the only reason DAII on nightmare felt hard)
  • Online-component with microtransactions and gated content (don't get any ideas, EA-suits) - god please no.
  • Overly stereotypical companions (both in terms of personalities and looks)
  • Poor itemization and lack of variety
  • Lack of variety in combat and
  • Lack of depth in the classes and specializations
  • Lack of weaponized nugs
Just read the title again and it refers to a single "worst" fear: if I had to pick one, it would be the microtransaction nonsense. Any in-game cash shop type system will completely destroy any potential immersion for me, personally. Handle the dlc and other paid stuff outside the game, thanks. B)

Import bugs and incorrect flagging, this series has so far been terrible about these

- A cliché tough, proud warrior, muscle mountain Kossith companion

- No female Kossiths

- A handwaved foundation of the Inquisition

- Too many known characters as companions

- Return of big, epic adventure means lackluster and unsurprising story like DAO.

- No rapiers.

- No scabbards and weapons magically sticking to characters backs.

- No fancy Orlesian ball/party.

I don't know about you but DA:O took me more than 50 hours to complete, even DA2 falls into the over 50 hour limit for me.

My first completionist play-through of Origins was at about 52 hours, if I recall correctly. My other play-throughs varied, but all have been close to 50 hours. Same with DA2.

Shortest completionist play-through of any BioWare game, that I can recall doing, was KotOR, just short of 30 hours. I may have done JE in that time, too, but I'm not sure.

I hate all of those fetch quests designed to pad out the length of the game. An example would be scanning planets for "war assets" -- or rather, for boring lines of text -- in ME3. No part of the game should feel like a time-consuming chore that you simply must do if you want the best ending.

Instead, make the story quests longer, with more complex plots.

Oh, and bring back the ability to talk to companions anywhere you want to like you could in Origins! That was brilliant. It really gave you the sense that you were moving the story along at your own pace and in a way that was unique to you. No idea why you got rid of that, BioWare. It's been one of your best features since Knights of the Old Republic.

I'm actually kind of worried about the Inquisitor's voice actor/actress. I don't mind a fully voiced character on principal -- I loved being Hawke -- but I found it so hard to be any "other" Hawke than the first one I played through. Nicholas Boulton was fantastic, as was Jo Wyatt (though I mostly played a dudehawke), but I kept trying to make Hawke look older to "match" his voice and all of a sudden he looked almost as old as his mother. o___O

I guess what I'm saying is I hope they find someone really dynamic to voice the PC, female and male. I can't imagine it's easy to get a voice that transcends age but also really delivers.

-EA insisting on cutting stuff to make it dlc
-Having a bunch of returning cast being shoved in for the sake of a cameo and/or pixel sex (Cullen)
-Inserting "edgy" plot twists in for the sake of art
-Having to hack and slash everything instead of exploring and getting through puzzles
-Getting stuck with companions I just want to tell to "shut the hell up" after 10 minutes (DA2 cast, I'm looking at you!)
-Tallis returning (egads, please no!)
-My choices not mattering because all the protagonist does is react to things

And that's all I can think of at the moment. :P

-A Shepard after Thessia moment (Snapping at Joker/getting all weepy with Tevos even though my Shep is a total monster.)
-No strictly het romance/no strictly gay romance. I don't see why we can't have both in the game, and it would be nice to have characters that have their own beliefs and aren't playersexual.
-That stupid basic magic bolt, basic magic bolt, dance in a circle hand out of the ground **** mages did in DA2 when using basic attacks.

The problem with this is that it means someone will have to make a decision of which companions are totally straight and gay. And then the LGBT and/or straight people will be up in arms because they will declare (no matter who gets picked to be gay or straight) that all the gay/straight characters are stereotyped or somehow flawed compared to the other characters and the whole thing will be a mess.

What might be better is that if a companion is gay or straight her/his dialogue and reactions are significantly different than there other. In other words, romancing them as gay or straight will be completely different experiences and not just the same dialogue and changing the pronouns when they interact.

That agency will be denied when it is needed the most. That I will be asked to do something terribly and ridiculously stupid just to prop up some plot I'm largely invested against.

I don't want to work for the bad guy just so I can be shown why the bad guy is sympathetic.
I especially don't want to work for the bad guy just so that it can blow up in my face.
I don't even want to work for the useless **** I spent the last couple hours dreaming up ways to kill.
And I really really don't want to have to follow an inane plot device just to pave the way for the writer's idea of "bittersweet."

Ever since Hawke was hyped as being "the most important person in Thedas" and he ended up being a glorified city janitor makes me fearful that being called the "leader of the Inquisition" might end up being something equally disappointing.
