Thane's look was ultimately decided by the women at bioware....

Thank you for asking the women. That initial design... with the red thing... I... er. It looked like a rash. And his eyes made me think he wanted to eat my soul. Now, he is quite pretty. Kudos to whoever did the scales. They remind me of various reptiles that I have encountered and touched, thus giving me a surreal urge to pet him.

There's much, much more to what women find attractive. Unfortunately, I only learned this when I became tied down and could no longer use the information to my advantage.

(Talking 'relationship' here, not merely getting laid.
I like to think that as long as my actions and decisions are guided by the awareness that
ultimately my partner does not owe me anything, specifically, she does not owe me to stay when
that's not what makes her happy, well, I'll be doing fine.
Now, you do know about the starting principle of getting more second glances than you'd know what to do with
when you take your best female friend to the mall, right? Anyone can comment if that still works, btw?
On topic: I could not stand Thane's voice. It must have got to do with lack of resonance with my own
'natural frequency' or something. I steered clear of talking to him. On page 1 someone nailed it:
'Geeze! Could you please clear your throat or something before you speak already!??'

I really like his design... he has style, but he's not clichee. And I love his voice, I could listen to him for hours (same goes for Garrus, I like the Turian "purr" in it).
Can't really think of any other LI for my FemSheps, because his story is amazingly tragic, yet not too sad. Since you know from the start that there's no real hope for the couple, it is not as bad as it could be... though I'll never get used to the thought if him dying on me :/

I don't see why there are so many different responses to him. Again, I think this is another example of the whole "Women think differently than men" idea. I mean, to quote the developers "With a man, you can make her blue and give her a great body, but women are harder than that".
I really liked nearly every aspect about Thane, minues his flashbacks, but that is purely because the lighting was crappy, and he pulled some rather unfortunate facial expressions. His personality and looks were both amazing, and I was pretty fond of his voice. That, and, compared to the other female LI's (Jacob/Kaidan/Liara/Garrus), he felt more "real" or emotional. That, and in the end, the romance didn't feel like a fling in the end.Let's just say that I'm happy I chose to go romance-less for ME1.

He is also intelligent, mysterious, has a very interesting personality, and the voice. Once I fell in love with his character, I started to find the way he looks also very appealing. Well what can I say, he's one sexy beast.

As for the romance, he is basically using you as a substitute for his dead wife. I am not your dead wife, dude, stop calling me the pet name you used for her, and stop having flashbacks of her while we're making love! His romance is totally insulting and disturbing. It's sad, but in a pathetic crazy jerk kind of way, not a sensitive soul kind of way like I think they intended. Garrus came off as the sensitive one who really loves you.
I don't understand how anyone can find Thane cool or romantic. He looks a hell of a lot better than Garrus, yeah, but that's it. Thane is just alien eye candy with LSD skin. Overall, the whole romance with Thane is, IMO, taking advantage of an emotionally vulnerable dying man, preying on his loneliness and the nostalgia for his wife.
Then again, since people have mentioned her in this topic, I thought the Liara romance was terrible too. I had like one conversation with that girl, and she suddenly wants to give herself away to me? I felt like I was just the first person Liara encountered since she hit puberty, and it was purely rushed naivety on her part, thinking she loves the first attractive friend she's ever had. I felt like the Liara romance was just taking advantage of her. I understand why guys like the Liara romance, but I didn't really like the "taking advantage of someone emotionally vulnerable" romance that was Thane.

He was designed to be a love interest from the beginning. So I was just wondering what the ladys here on the social site think of em?
Personally, I like him. He's got a sort of intrigue about him, a dark vibe. And he's not bad on the eyes, either.
