Thane's look was ultimately decided by the women at bioware....

OMG I thought I was the only person who he was having that effect on... his voice reminds me of someone who has a flu with too much phlegm in his throat and causes his voice to distort when they talk.. it drives me nuts... and Thane sounds like this all the time. I'm going to have a very uncomfortable time listening to his reverberating voice I'm afraid
His voice was changed again, the rumbling quality lessened quite a bit. It sounds more human now.

So, if I wore a Thane costume to a party would I get insta-laid twelve times?
Probably not, and they would steal it for themselves.

So all you ladies are saying all I need to do to get laid more is have a nice jacket and and croak when I talk?
I mean, I don't even understand why he's attractive in the least bit. He's a fish face. His neck is a huge writhing mass of red wonder meat. Like, if you cut off his leg could you make sushi out of it? He might not even have a wang... or what if he has 12?
I'll never understand, and I don't think I want to. Men are attracted to things very predictably. ******&ass. Asari at least look human a bit...
So, I take it you haven't read any of the previous posts? Especially from the longer posts where the fans EXPLAIN why they love Thane specifically. Hot female aliens with human guys have been around for so long, I am thrilled that Bioware is catering more towards this fanbase for male alien love interests with female humans since honestly you just never see them around (so it is also exploring a rare story-line and shows that they care about us
Once again, if you've read the other posts not just on this thread but others where people say why love Thane, yes he is physically attractive (hell in my opinion he is pretty humanoid, to which some fans prefer otherwise) but it is his mysterious personality that is more intriguing and often is why we are so interested (and of course....we just like him....no sense in understanding....hell why do some guys like Tali? Because she has a nice figure and an interesting personality, so does Thane).

He's a fish-face.
He looks really slimy.
It sounds like he's gargling when he speaks.
...Disco outfit.
Unless he gives great massages or hasn't licked a lamp post in winter, I don't see any of my FemSheps going for him.
(All of my arguments are hypocritical when taking into consideration I am a Talimancer and pro-Garrus-Love.)

Add to that the bad boy charm with a touch of emo spirituality - ahhh sighhhhh...
So really, if you have a deep, cool voice, chances are you'll get laid more.. as for the bad boy charm and stuff, I think it's the common fantasy element. No sane goody two shoes girl in the real world would dare go for him, unless driven nuts by lust. But even then... I would be too scared to ruin my life over a hot assassin.
This doesn't mean I spend my days daydreaming what it would be like if he was real and I got a real chance at some hawt sechs with him...no, not at ALL

*shrugs..* Thane's something different and I won't knock it until my FemShep has tried it. If he's 'scaly' and 'chapped', perhaps he'll be less inclined to try to drown you in drool when he kisses you like some human males

The fantasy of being able to romance this suave alien assassin should be noted by guys who just don't understand why we like this character. In mass effect we can be the commander of a highly advanced spaceship (with a background of our choosing) who meets up with many different aliens each with their own personality and history between other races.
You can be a hero or a total jerk; obviously these things are why we like the game so much. I guess, for me, that because we were given the opportunity to meet all these intriguing aliens, learn this incredible history behind them, and save the galaxy all in the scifi genre, it seemed a little out of place (or disappointing in my case) to pretty much only have one human guy as a love interest. In this world BW has created for us, I expected the option of being with an alien because this is something I cannot do in real life hence why we play video games to do things we cannot do just to see how it works (once again keep in mind IN real life many fans probably wouldn't be attracted to an actual assassin or alien one......maybe we'd think he was cute but only shepard seems to be the one who could possible pull off this coupling). Anyway, sorry for the rant I didn't mean for it to get this involved. I am a Thane fan, because he looks cool, and is someone who only your character in the game could possibly interact with.

How can Samara be designed to make men swoon she seems to feel nothing, is it because of the cleavage? Thane has some man-cleavage as well ~_^

Me either but whatever floats people's boats. I guess once I play the game he will grow on me. Right now, he's not someone I'd go out of my way to romance.
