Classes
Adept:
Human adept: this is one of my go-to classes for an easy
match, and is a really easy class to pump up your score. Singularity acts as a
great point sponge, soaking up points from multiple enemies at once. It makes
it even easier of there is another adept in the team, or a vanguard, since it
primes multiple targets, giving you the explosion/kill credit.
The fury probably deserves a mention, but not for me. I like
playing aggressive and pushing at the enemy, and I have trouble doing that with
the Fury, since she is very squishy, and lacks a decent crowd control power,
like singularity. I have seen one person play her very aggressive
(with AF/throw) and top the scoreboard (but not totally dominate), but that was
it. Otherwise, all of the furys I have ever seen don’t tend to do so great
since they play back and play DC/throw.
Soldier:
For me, the easy goto is the Destroyer with the Lancer.
I know he can do very well with the PPR or Typhoon, but I don’t care for the
ramp up. I have found the Lancer to be the perfect weapon for him. And if you
run out, you can simply switch devastator mode off/on, and it bypasses the
cooldown, allowing you to do other things (like run). In general I have found
the no-clip weapons (esp the Lancer at cSMG) to be perfect for score whoring,
especially with the Destroyer. No runs to the ammo boxes means more time for
killing.
I give a nod to the TSol with the Hurricane as well. However,
I am frustrated with the off host unreliability of the stability passives. It
makes it a lot more difficult to hit enemies at a distance with the Hurricane
Engineer:
Demolisher with the Harrier. This is a pretty easy class to
score ****, with grenade cap V and the Harrier. The crowd control of the arc
grenades makes playing aggressive pretty easy even with the squishiness of the
Demolisher. And the character makes spawn nuking easy mode.
FQE and GE also play pretty well, although maybe not as easy
as the Demolisher. FQE with the cSMG or Lancer and incendiary ammo, and the GE
with the Wraith work pretty nice.
Sentinel:
I don’t play the sentinels much, but when I do, I play the
Paladin. He is pretty much easy mode for score whoring. I either take the Wraith
or the cSMG (radier is probably good choice too). The Valkyre/reegar is also a
good one (obviously), although have not been playing at all lately.
I will say I never play the TSent, but I have seen a few people
simply own with that character. The best (worst) was when I went in with the GI
Hurricane, and ran into th3end with the TSent-PPR. I kept it close for 4 levels
(maybe ahead), but by the end I was way behind. I gotta give him a try again.
Infiltrator:
Probably any infiltrator will do, but if I really want a
fast easy match, I take the obvious GI. Doesn’t really matter the loadout, but I
do best with the BW, Hurricane, or Wraith. I just tried the Wraith on him
recently and could not believe how well it worked. The GI's weapon abilities give you the ability to headshot literally across
the map. And the power from cloak and his passives make it possible to OSK
anything but bosses with the Wraith. I also like the FQI a lot. And the
huntress probably deserves a mention, since I used to use her a lot. I think
she may be better in Platinum, since DC works better on bosses. In gold, all
the mooks make it less useful (imo). I was sold when I OSK a scion from (near?) full armor (maybe after a PM?) with a headshot.
Vanguard:
This is probably the easiest class to score **** with, but
only if you know what you are doing, since it is pretty easy to die if you don’t.
Most vanguards will do, but I prefer the AV and the Slayer. Both are fantastic
for spawn nuking. The Drell is also fantastic,
but a little harder for me to keep alive. Not quite as good for spawn nuking,
but unbelievable for CQC death and CQC boss take down.
Weapons:
Any powerful weapon will do, but I have had the best luck
with the following:
Sniper:
Black Widow with phasic 3. Three shots beat one generally. I
do fine with the Javelin, and it is a bit more fun to use, but it is overkill
for the most part.
AR:
Lancer. I like the PPR and Typhoon, but the ramp up is less
effective in a lot of situations. The harrier is great for the Destoyer, with
unlimited ammo nearby, but otherwise not very useful for score whoring, since
when you are running to the ammo boxes, you are not killing.
SMG:
Hurricane, and cSMG (for power spamming chars). The cSMG
with a SMG amp 3 takes down bosses surprisingly fast, and is great for applying
ammo powers.
Shotgun:
Easily the Wraith for me. I have tried the Claymore, and can
do OK with it, but I am just not as effective with it. For almost every
character it is overkill if you can land a headshot with the Wraith, and I have
found, with the smart choke, the Wraith is the easiest weapon in the game to
get the 20 HS medal. All you have to do is put the enemy’s head in that big circle,
and you get a headshot, even across the map (with the GI/GE especially). I have
to say, as much love as the Claymore gets, I have never seen someone do very
well with it. Ever. I am sure there are some who can own with it, but I have
never seen it.
Pistol:
The only pistol I use typically is the acolyte when I am running
a vanguard. The Talon is an awesome weapon, and it is definitely possible to
score **** with it, especially with the GI, but I found the delay while
waiting for the recoil to recover makes it less effective than the Wraith, in
my hands anyway. Still a worthy weapon.
Gear:
The only gear to take is the Geth Scanner V, unless you are
playing a Geth (then I take a weapon amp) or a grenade class. The scanner is indispensable
for knowing where the enemy is, to get to it before your teammates do.
Consumables:
Weapon amps, AP ammo (Destroyer with Lancer,
GI/Hurricane), phasic (snipers), incendiary ammo (vanguards, FQE, GE), or warp ammo (adept).
Sometimes I take disruptor with the demolisher or GE, since I have more than
250 III+IVs, and i like the stunning you get with it - good for squishy. And Power amps, cyclonic,
or adrenaline. The only exception is when I play the GI/Hurricane. Then I take
the Barrage and a stability mod - makes the Hurricane completely stable and capable
of headshotting across any map.
Anyway, that’s what works for me.
