Logic says that no developer without a few gallons of alchool in his veins would tell that a product is going to be released the same day witjout being absolutely sure that such product is perfect and ready to ship. Unfortunately sometimes even logic fails.
So no, while playing extreme devils advocate can be sometimes fun, it's a tad farfetched here. That post was plenty misleading abd there's really no blame to be put on the ones that bought the points when they read that.

Good lord, you are so full of yourself it's hilarious!

You simply don't get it, do you?

Goth I think the point is...he doesn't get it because ..he doesn't want to.  ^^

"you can lead a horse to water"....*hums to herself and wanders off*

And you thought I was bad...eh? Lol at least with this topic, I got the answers I wanted.

True ..but didn't think you were "bad" to be honest :)

It was being nice and without bad words...but I think everyone needs to walk away slowly from this guy...and then....RUN! He is getting out of hand....

You're entirely right. This forum needs to be used only to post compliments and spam. How silly of me to forget that and dare to post actual feedback. :innocent:

After I downloaded the Update I was in the rare position where none of my main group needed any Specialization points and weren't working on any of those trees. I played for a while before realizing something was wrong and even once I found out the issue I continued to play up until a point that I wanted to use the Specializations that I had unlocked. I am thinking that perhaps that was a mistake on my part.

Will the fact that I played for so long AFTER the Update was applied cause an issue? Once the fix is applied can I continue as normal or will I have to revert to a save closer to when the Update occurred?

Is it?  So, according to this vision of yours, all the threads and posts in this forums that include any kind of suggestion are "entirely rude?"
Because you know, they're telling the devs how to do their job...  :innocent:

Given that we don't want, of course, to be rude (we don't go around calling people screaming monkeys after all) and suggestions and insight should be off limits, shall you tell us what we should use this forum for?

You're SO right! No one that hasn't been under the effect of hallucinogen substances would ever go to the forum of a game and.... oh goodness... provide suggestions. Maker, what a scandal! What an affront!

I must remember this notion every time a client of mine gives me some insight on how he'd like the project he's paying for to be handled. I shall cut his hand off at the wirst so that he'll pay for his vile felony with his blood and flesh! :wizard:

Victor, thank you for the post.

People are right in that it does not say much, but for some reason it is satisfying for me. These simple, "Hey, THIS is what went wrong, we're doing our best to fix it and in the meantime we're learning from it," go a long way towards building my trust in the team(s).

If someone had said on Jan 5th, "Hey, our testing teams caught *insert particular bug(s)* late in the process, which is why we can't release RTO on time. Sorry," I think a lot of the forum BS could have been prevented. Even if it isn't completely accurate, just having a statement like that come from the company makes a world of difference. I'm used to hearing "It's done when it's done" from another particular company, and I think Bioware deserves at least some measure of the slack that I give that company.

You haven't paid for RTO...what you do with your customers and what I do with mine are totally different, they have already paid you...I bake cakes and other types of sweets, they've paid me, I should live up to what they want. You have paid for nothing yet of RTO....you got DA:O, you paid for that, you don't like it or something?

Actually you're in error here, my fair lady. I did, as many others that trusted Bioware when they said "it's going to be released later today".
Even without that misleading communication, Bioware encourages us to support them by prepaying for their products with the points system.
In my opinion, that kind of system does come with a fair deal of responsibilities, between which that of communication. You might differ, but that's what opinions are.

IMO the community is having problems understanding why BioWare cannot fix RtO and the specialization problem when those of us who have down loaded it have already done so.

Not really. 360 users found a workaround. There is nothing to say you haven't borked some other part of the game that you haven't come across yet

You bought points, big deal. You got what you wanted, the points, they aren't meant for much of anything else. You haven't paid for RTO...haven't gotten it, therefore there is no way for you to have any problem and have the right to tell them how to do their job. Your customers pay you for your work...the work you have done, work they wanted you to do to their idea...if you don't do it, you don't deserve the money.

Critisim is welcome but it is no excuse to demean and insult others because they do not share your views. It is a public forum if you cannot accept others opnions with out insulting them then you should not be here or just keep that to yourself.

Shouting troll and fanboy does nothing for ones argument and distracts from the actual meritable parts of the post. Regardless of who is doing it.

he's invoking "reversum addendum absurdum your-pointum" and which will twist your own words into unrecognizable jumbles!

1) Let's stop the back and forth here. It is dragging the thread into a place that it doesn't need to go.

2) Abriael, it's clear from your posting that you won't be happy until we put forth a confirmed release date for RtO. Well, we won't be happy until we have one either. of course, we have dates we would like to hit and, frankly, we would like to wrap this one up so we can move on to the next set of updates ourselves. But the fact is, the update is done when it's done.

Setting previous dates (holiday season, Jan. 5, etc.) was a mistake, since we didn't hit any of them. We were optimistic enough to set those dates, but things did not go as planned. Now, we are dropping back a bit and trying to realign expectations so we don't get a community all up in anticipation again.

But it's not fair to say that the note contained no information. First, you know that new code is in testing. We're not just looking into the issue or working on the fix. We've begun the testing process, which is the first phase of getting it released.

Second, we wanted to make it clear that there were lessons learned from the release. We're adjusting testing methodologies to better find these types of issues in future updates. This will be a benefit for all of our releases in the future.

Finally, we really are trying to improve communication and information flow around here. Notes like these are an indication of that. I have some meetings this week, where we'll work further toward getting updates on the questions floating about the forum, so we can help you feel better informed.

Victor

Thanks for trying to stay active in this thread. I look forward to seeing what further information you can provide us with. Some guy posted some interesting questions near the top of page 5 if you are looking for questions that need answering....
