A Note About the Xbox 360 Title Update

At this point, they've already missed the window of releasing it before ME2, and really have delayed it to the point of embarrassment. They might as well try to redeem the customers' hopes of quality DA:O DLC by making RtO something nicer than what is being represented by the pirated and 360-prereleased versions.
If they are taking over a month just to fix a bug in a very simple half-hour long piece of DLC for the PC version, that kind of stinks.
Fact is, there aren't any bugs that we've been made aware of with RtO for any platform. And it's apparently a simple enough DLC that game-breaking bugs would be REALLY hard to even make happen, let alone miss in the testing process. The bug was for a 360 title update which was to address the 360's achievement system. This title update just happened to coincide with a 360 release of RtO in a strange little mishap at MS's end. Nothing close to specific has really been explained as to why the PC version of RtO has been delayed at all.
So, again, I'm hoping these delays mean BioWare is looking to actually improve the quality of RtO, not just fix bugs. Because a half-hour side-quest that isn't introducing any new gameplay or graphical elements shouldn't be this difficult or bothersome. We're starting to see user-made mods with more complexity than RtO, and none of them cause bugs like we saw with the Xbox360 title update. Why would they? The beauty of the PC vs. the 360 is being able to test the software every step of the way through development. This "specialization erasure" glitch seems to me to be completely 360 specific, with pretty much no way of duplicating it on the PC with a DLC that is no more substantial than adding another side-quest and a couple of items to the game.
And I don't blame BioWare if they're delaying the PC version to coincide with a "proper" 360/PS3 release. Maybe there are contractual obligations there. But I do think they owe the PC users a little something after that last announce-and-delay maneuver that caused a lot of them (myself included) to purchase BioWare Points.

Do you... honestly think that PC users would say they have played RtO here? On this forum? Even though as far as I'm aware it wasn't made officially available on the PC version, so they'd basically be admitting to piracy?
Do I even have to explain what's wrong with that?
Oh i don't think they need to admit it. With all the online components DA:O has, I would be surprised if Bioware didn't have a way to see if someone illegally installed an unreleased piece of content.
Hopefully the ones that stole RtO will have what they deserve coming to bite them in the rear soon.

False. You challenged my intellect, simply because I asked you who you were that you deserved preferential treatment.

And how can you assure me that people are having issues with the leaked version?
No, I really didn't get it the first time! Thanks for clarifying that to me... 'tis not my language! =) (but you know some crazy zealots did say they brought it upon themselves because of their religion, right? hope you see what else could be associated with that sort of thinking... or not thinking to be more precise!)
I didn't say people are having issues with it.. I said the leaked version has issues... but I really can't get into it.

I'm hoping that with the delays over the botched 360 release of RtO, they're not just fixing bugs at this point, but actually making changes or additions to the content. So the illegal not-to-be-mentioned version, in the end, isn't the actual RtO that will eventually, maybe, be released.
I was hoping that too. Hopefully they will tweak the ending of RtO a bit since it felt a little bland in my opinion. It was still worth playing, but the ending felt a little rushed.

I hope that too... those who hacked the server and stole the software and made money from it! Should go to "jail without parole", right?
I am sure the Irish would love to see Henry in jail because he "stole" their slot in next World Cup with an illegal goal that the referee didn't bother to penalize. Sorry for the Irish but that won't happen. Now, the French surely are celebrating!

Either way, my point was valid. You deserve no more information than what we've already received.

Wow, I didn't know you were in the bioware offices and microsoft's watching them so you could obtain your alleged information. Amazing. Seven signs of evil? lmao. Substantial proof? I see... well I have yet to see this alleged proof so I'll just keep believing in the good of all.
Your failure to accept simple logic astounds me.
The facts are, BioWare said RtO needs further testing across all platforms, yet people have played it and reported nothing wrong with it.
The only bug is in the title update which a) is specific to the 360 andis entirely seperate from the DLC itself.
Therefore BioWare are either a) lying orgenuinely think that a bug specific to one platform that has nothing to do with their DLC requires that the DLC be delayed and tested across all platforms, at which I'd award them the Congressional Medal of WTF.
Wow you're still at it? I haven't seen any posts by PC users saying they have the rto and reported nothing wrong with it, that doesn't mean there aren't any. I must have missed those posts. But as I said before I have seen 360 posts that report problems. There is a bug in the 360 title update, but like all companies they are obligated to ensure all their products are good to go. Hence the need for DLC delay across all platforms in order to run their new system tests., minus the flame, Bioware does believe that a bug specific to one platform is of enough concern to test other platforms, again that is why they have implemented the new test system and delayed release,

I didn't mean that actually. Anyone using a piece of pirated software is "stealing" it, not just the ones that initiated the leak. What I meant is that I hope Bioware's servers are compiling a nice list of all the users that are using RtO illegally, and that such list will be put to good use soon.

Right, exactly, the comments I have of the pirated version of RtO are from other forums and most people say that the only thing wrong with it is that it is short. There are no spec bugs or other such nonsense. I'm willing to put money on the PS3 having no problems either unless they apply a similarly shi**y title update which breaks things. Bottom line is that the problems they're facing seem to have nothing to do with the content and a lot to do with some change to the program itself which is borking games left and right.
What I and many others who are getting flack, are just annoyed that the delay is nothing to do with the DLC and all to do with a bug that is totally separate from the DLC. This delay is totally unnecessary as all evidence seems to suggest that going through another round of testing is a time wasting exercise.

I've encountered no bugs in the 360 version...well except that I somehow managed to get Alistair stuck in a fallen tree. He eventually somehow managed to unstuck himself....silly Alistair.

Do you think people are so rock stupid as to not work out that RtO is being delayed for the sake of the 360 after the title update incident?
That said I would prefer straight honestly, e.g. "MS/EA told us not to release RtO for any platform until the 360 version is ready. Sorry. Our hands are tied." instead of "Um.. er.. we totally need to fix all the versions cause they all have a 360 specific bug.. wait er.. they're all like totally bugged! No really!".
I have an exceptionally low tolerance for stupid excuses.
You realize the two are not mutually exclusive, yes? It's pretty clear that there is a contract in place stipulating a simultaneous release for PC and Xbox 360, at the very least for this DLC, if not a universal deal for all content (which is more questionable, due to the release of the 1.02 patch). However, you can either be cynical bordering irrational and assume that BioWare made up the entire explanation of new testing procedures, or you can realize that they just had a pretty large bug slip through both their and MS's hands, one that has taken a week now to unravel, and realize that their previous testing requirements are no longer relevant. (Hell, you probably should know that their testing is suspect due to the number of game breaking bugs present in the release version of the game.)
Are they holding the release of the PC version due to some contractual agreement (which is not the same as the back alley deal you seem to think it is)? Probably. Contracts don't just evaporate because the customer wants the product early. It's the entire reason the contract exists in the first place. But do you really think they are dumb enough to sit on the product for a week after such a large screw up and do no testing on it? You must truly think highly of yourself, and see the rest of the world as idiots, if you believe that to be the case.

Precisely my point. The reasons given for this delay are unsatisfactory, and annoying because the DLC is confirmed as being in a playable state.

Neither what you think of leaked software users, specially what you want them to suffer... it is not gonna happen! UNLESS they're making money out of it!
Actually I'm sure that the terms of use state that Bioware has the right to revoke the right to use of the online components of Dragon Age to any user, which would cripple several parts of the game for them.
So yes, I think that a ban of the accounts using pirated RtO would definitely be in order.

This is entirely irrelevant. What they choose to do with the DLC while it's waiting for another release date has nothing do with the actul REASON for the delay, which in this case all evidence points to an unrelated, 360 specific update and nothing else.
