Moaning, whining and complaining does nothing to help the dev team to increase the rate at which they work and just annoys the Bioware posters and the majority of the community.
In the future, I suggest those of you that bought pts way before the dlc was actually released hold off next time and buy th epts when it is actually released.
Relax, take a deep breath and ask yourself, is it really worth it to get all huffy and puffy over a video game?

The funny part is that the only "huffy and puffy" one here is the one that barges in with his condescending attitude, telling everyone else what they should do, and what they should think.
There have been a few. They came, they wrote their condescending and slightly inflamatory line, and then they're gone. A nice exercise in futility.
In the future I'd suggest you to join a thread if you have something to add to the discussion. An utterly condescending attitude with zero substance normally tends to be nothing else than silly flamebait

Now, care to tell us something original, for once?
I realize that you are getting defensive over my post. Which you rightly should since you are one of the people getting all bent out of shape over this DLC. As for futility, you do realize this entire thread is an excercise in futility, nothing of what anyone says here will make one bit of difference to Bioware and hwo fast they get this new dlc out.

Oh really? Maybe it won't get the new DLC out faster, but it prompted Bioware to re-examine their communication protocols, which, I'd say, has nothing to do with futility. Now, have any other pearls of wisdom to share with us, so we can have more giggles? :innocent:

This has all been blown way out of proportion. RtO will be finished when it is finished, then released, you'll get your dlc and be able to spend your pts on it. If you already spent your money on pts then that is your own problem. The process of making and releasing games is not an exact science, stuff happens and sometimes things need to be put on hold, this has happened on many different occasions.
Moaning, whining and complaining does nothing to help the dev team to increase the rate at which they work and just annoys the Bioware posters and the majority of the community.

While I agree that moaning does little to nothing, and Abriael and I have disagreed a bit over this and another thread, your argument lacks any real level of thought.
I bought a number of points because I was getting ME2, and I always planned to get the expansion regardless of when it came out. but a number of people bought points on the 13th after Chris came on here and said to pc users - it will be released later today. Now, providing a release date (e.g 05 Jan 2010) is a little different than saying ti will be released today - Today, in my view, is pretty definite. What if these people have other games (meaning not ME2) to move onto and they only ever planned to play this last dlc and then not play again? I have a few friends that aren't going to play the expansion because they feel that RtO finishes this 'story' for them. Bioware just gets to keep their money?
While it probably has little direct impact on how the devs work, EA and Bioware should be taking note. They would have lost a lot of sales of RtO from pc users obtaining an illegal version of the game. So they have an interest in making the devs work as hard as they can to get it out before they lose more sales.
Oh, and it is always easy to look at something with hindsight and say you should not buy the points beforehand. Buying them ont he day of supposed release when a Bioware employee has just come on saying it will be out today isn't really 'buying in advance'/ Perhaps they just wanted to make get in quick in case the Bioware servers weren't being overloaded by people rushing to buy points.
Maybe try considering all angles before posting next time?

For those who make the argument that you bought Bioware / MS Points but didn’t get what you paid for, you are clearly mistaken. Unless you purchased but did not receive the points THEMSELVES, you got EXACTLY what you paid for. Purchasing Bioware / MS Points with theINTENTION of purchasing Return to Ostagar with THOSE points is not the same as purchasing Return to Ostagar. If you feel differently, then perhaps you should start a class action lawsuit claiming “consumer fraud” and see how fast you get laughed out of court by any reasonable Judge / Jury. Some have indicated they wouldn’t accept a refund even if one was offered. This shows how unreasonable some of you are.
While this is technically true, it's an incredibly pedantic argument. People don't buy Bioware/MS points, just for the joy of having Bioware/MS points - they are a form of online currency, used to buy things of actual value.
A valid analogy to what some people are having to deal with, wouldbe walking into a store to buy a game, giving the cashier your money, and then them telling you to come back on some unspecified date to get what you paid for.
Is it literally or legally the same? Of course not. But that is irrelevant - people are venting frustration, not lawyering up for a class action lawsuit.
- Scott
No, it is NOT a valid analogy.
The MS or Bioware points are you putting money towards credit, and that credit can be used for future purchases.
The only valid analogy would be like getting a gift card or gift certificate.
You paid $25 for a gift card to Amazon or Gamestop or Borders or wherever, with the intent of using that game card to buy something that was supposed to come out today. But when today rolls around the release date on that something is pushed back. Well, wait, you PAID $25 for that item, right, and now you are being screwed, right? No, you paid $25 for a voucher, a holder, a credit, that you intended to then trade for said item. That is the only valid analogy.
Pre-payments, buying something but them being told it's on back-order, or any other analogy fails to see the two step-process of
1 - Paying money for another form of purhcasing power (like a gift certificate, or in the specific case here the MS or Bioware points)
2 - Using that form of purchasing power to get the actual goods that you want (in this case, the game content that was delayed.)
There are many stores that have a similar set-up, before you start saying that no store does this. I worked at a video rental store when I was in college that you could prepay money onto your account and then when you rented something you could pull the money from your prepaid account. Pretty much every store has gift cards or gift certificates, gas stations and fast food restaurants have cards that you can put money on, etc.
THAT is a comparable analogy to the MS points and the Bioware points.
Now you could argue about the relative intelligence of having a barrier between what you want to purchase and your money (having to get the points first before getting the software), but anyone who uses a credit card or a checking account is ALREADY doing that at one level so it would be something of a "yeah, but I don't want THIS PARTICULAR barrier."
*shrug*
You weren't ripped off. You want the monetary value of your gift card back, go try and argue that with any store that grants gift cards or gift receipts. Depending on the stink your raise and the manager on duty, you MIGHT get your money back - but more often than not you probably won't.
---
This argument is so very, very tired.
You post a long response and then say the argument is tired. That's hilarious.

Why wouldn't they get to keep your money, RtO will be released eventually, and if it isn't, there will be other things for sale for pts. It isn't like they are taking the pts system away entirely and saying f off we are keeping your money. Someone said somethign earlier that hit the nail on the head, buying Microsoft or Bioware pts is like buying a Walmart giftcard or some other type of giftcard. The money is there and you can spend it on whatever you like, just because the item you actually want isn't available yet doesn't mean you cannot spend that giftcard on something else, or just wait till the item you want comes out.
I myself am in the same boat s alot of you, I bought microsoft pts before christmas in anticipation of RtO being released, and even though it wasn't I still have the pts available to either buy it when it is released or buy something else I want with the pts.
I understand that alot of people are angry about the repeated delays ofRtO, I am none too happy with it myself, but I understand that things happen, I have no control over them and that getting pissy on the internet will do nothing about it. And above that I am more angry about the patch because it broke my game and I can no longer play it on my 360, which is way more important than any dlc content that could come out. But once again, stuff happens, the game will be fixed the dlc will be released and all will be alright.
Overall, Bioware is a fantastic company and everyone makes mistakes, I have the upmost faith in them and their ability to pu tout quality games, and I see no reason why these flame wars should occure.

If you check the xbox 360 forum, there's a fix out there for the specs. I downloaded the title update, lost my stuff, and got it all back.
Just read it/follow the instructions and you should be fine. You'll lose some game play if you went on with your game...but if you haven't saved over your last pre-update save you'll be fine.

Sorry but as said an hundred times (reading a thread may be a good idea before barging in wuth an utterly condescending attitude), there's a clear cut and undeniable cause-effect link between the representative of a developer telling "it will be released today" and people scrambling to buy the points.
Expecially since, at the moment, most of us have absolutely nothing to spend the points on. Microsoft points and warlmart cards are a very unfitting example, given that both Xbox Live and Walmart have an immense catalogue of products to chose from.
Also, since it looks that you didn't really read this thread, you missed the point most of us are making entirely:
The delays are only a small part of the problem. Delays happen (albeit three in a row happens a lil more rarely), and every single oneof us is used to them.
The problem has to do with utter lack of informative communication about the status of the product we paid for. Now Victor promised that the way they communicate will change, and we'll see how that pans out, but you can be sure that there would have been absolutely no change if people didn't stand firm in telling them that "we're working on it, it's ready when it's ready" is not exactly the right way to communicate with customers that you're prompting, encouraging and even misleading into paying you in advance.

who made you the authority figure on this? it is done, just delayed due to Microsoft's certification process, if you had read most of the posts you would have known that already, but due to the fact that your lazy, you decide to makee an ass of yourself and assume it is not ready, so next time you want to make aspumtions, i suggest you do your homework, this DLC was promised alomst a month ago and we all had points ready for it, now we had to wait, while still having the points saved back to buy it the day it is released, what it sounds like to me is that your spoiled ego can't handle the fact that you think your better then everyone else and since you have a silver spoon in your mouth, maybe that spoon should be shovedsomewhere else. we have a right to be upset and we don't need someone like you telling us what we can and can't do, are you a Mod? no, so just shut up and let us deal with the issue at hand. i made my point.

Except they did communicate, they just didn't say exactly what some people wanted to hear. They are under no obligation to give you every minute detail about everythign that is going on. They did in fact say "Hey, we screwed up, we are fixing it, we will update you when there is something to update!" Then they went on to say hey yes we could have had more communication with you guys, we'll work on it. But most people wont be happy till they have an exact date, which is impossible considering all the channels they have to go through to release the content.
I also fail to see where they misled us. Saying something will be out then having to pull it because it is not working properly is not misleading anyone. Now if they said they would release it with having no intention of ever doing so would be misleading.
