Well, now that I've finally got my copy of...

DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS

The Super Deluxe Modded Edition!
...it looks like my old and plain copy of Dragon Age: Origins is going on the shelf for awhile... :wizard:

*continues to pray for an RTO update*

Honestly, this is just a stupid statement. SWTOR is being developed and managed by BioWare Austin.

You believe that the team handling the MMO are that much more talented and less prone to having these same issues as this team doing Dragon Age, and that if they did encounter these same problems they would have had this problem fixed when it should be, and have given us progressive amounts of updates and feedback, and perhaps not have lied about multiple things on this DLC such as the pricing, (yea I'm still on how they told everyone it was $4, and then just turned around, and said "**** you")?

If people venting their frustrations bother you so much, the lil blue Bioware button should be all you need to click on to check for updates. Instead you'd rather post insults and condescending remarks instead. Which seems to be a theme with those defending Bioware on this. Can't find a logical arguement against the frustrated people? Insult them and flame them!

I am not suprised in the least that you chose to respond, and as quickly as you did, even though I was not responding to one of your posts.

If you chose to respond only to the ones talking to you, you would have spared yourself a few walls of text, isn't it?

You chose to ignore the valid points I made, that others have pointed out are valid, simply because it suits your purpose.

I'm afraid I responded to all your points, one by one, with many less words, and without sprinkling the post with insults like you did (that alone spared me about half of the needed text). You might have missed it :D

On a side note, someone telling that your points are valid (or actually you telling yourself that your points are valid, lol) doesn't automatically make them valid, you know?

You have torn apart every post I have made, like you have done to several others, and you are clearly not used to people standing up to you and (saints preserve us) actually contradicting you and telling you could actually be wrong.

You seem to expect to come here, write a wall of text, and not having your points countered by people that happen to differ? The funny part is that you come here telling me "you're not used to people standing up to you! You bully!"
But when someone stands up to you, and squishes your flawed (and overly-verbose) arguments you get all bent out of shape?
You seem to have a bit of a teacher complex, but I might have to point out to you that this is a discussion forum, not a classroom. If you come here and shower us with your overly-wordy rants, you can definitely expect people to comment and counter them.
If that's a problem for you, I'd advise you to get a blog. And mind you, make sure to close comments, God forbid someone might happen to respond.

If anyone has the "bully mentality" it is you, not I.

More personal attacks... oh the novelty :innocent:

But let's get on with your "points"

1: If there are legitimate technical issue with the PC version. They only need to tell so. If they have a simultaneous release deal, then they lied when they promised that the PC version wouldn't be influenced by the console verson, and again, they only need to tell so. If there's an NDA, all they have to say is "there's an NDA on the issues that's causing the delay, sorry".
Problem solved. Complete silence is unprofessional and shows lack of respect towards the customer. It's that simple.

2: You seem the one that seems to have a selective reading here. Sony and Microsoft don't simply tell you "ok give us the code, we'll review it at our best convenience" They give you a schedule, so Bioware and any other developer knows perfectly when the certification process will be done. Bioware isn't "at a mercy" of anyone. It seems that you think that companies that have been in the business for several years are rather gung-ho about how they handle schedules. Lemme tell you. They aren't.

3: Bad faith and good faith have nothing to do with a statement being misleading or not.
A statement that proved false led customers in taking an action that they wouldn't have otherwise taken at that time. Hence, they were misled.
No one here is telling that Chris was in bad faith. Though, the statement was released, and it proved false. Bioware took money in advance as a direct consequence of that statement, and as such they are responsible for it. No matter how you "desperately" (see? I can use that word too) want to be an apologist for them. They released a false statement, no matter if maliciously or not, and prompted customers to give them money. That's a direct cause-effect link, and it makes them professionally responsible for the money they took. Now, the only professional way to handle such a situation is regular and informative communication.

4: You seem to think that the "money talks" justifies everything in business. Unfortunately, if you were any knowledgeable about the concept of customer satisfaction, you would know that such a meager justification doesn't work in dealing with customers. When a business makes a promise to their customers, there's no "circumstance" that makes braeaking that promise acceptable, expecially without an explanation.
You made a promise, but things have changed? You only have to tell so. You signed an NDA? Well, you shouldn't have.
If bioware made a deal that brought them to break a promise made to their customers to earn more money, that's bad already. If they even signed an NDA about it, cutting themselves off of the chance of explaining why the promise was broken, then it's their problem, and they deserve every little bit of negativity they are receiving, and then some. It's bad business practice, and bad business practice shouldn't be supported, despite you seeming very eager to do so, for some misterious reason.

It's really that simple, and as you seen it didn't take nearly as many words. Again, I'd encourage you to train your brevity a little. Your posts are a chore to read.

On the other hand, you've spent 60 pages periodically coming here taunting people and posting absolutely nothing constructive and contributing nothing to the thread.

I would say the one that wasted his time the most (not to mention everyone else's time) is you.

Now, time to go read another wall of text that will pull out the same trite and flawed arguments that could have probably been said in 5 lines.

Here I thought we were getting along...I was going to name one of my children after you...the grumpy one.

And you have been constructive and actually contributed?  The only thing I've seen is the same trite and smug replies being rude, abrasive, and insulting other people's intelligence.

And I have contributed to this thread...didn't you see the evil lopsided quote pyramid?  I made it just for you precious.

That's very possibly a wise choice, given S-E's track record in running Final Fantasy XI pretty much flawlessly. Personally, I'm quite excited for FFXIV myself.

Actually....I just got tired of reading your smug replies to anyone that had a different  opinion than you did.  Weren't you the one that was rude to one of the developers that posted in one of the other threads..what is it you called him..short sighted all because they wouldn't put a "cleric" type class in the game?  If that wasn't you then apologize, but there is a familiar smugness in your posts.  Sure I complained about the complainers, but was just trying to point out how silly it was and how it was really doing nothing to help the situation.  My intention was never to "taunt" anyone...what exactly are yours?

Whoever said this thread should be locked a few pages back I whole-heartedly agree.

Maybe they are or maybe they aren't.  You cannot make a direct comparison. between the two since it is two completely different groups working on the projects.

However, they could use this as an example of what not to do and highlight it with the group that is going to run TOR.  Of course, there are shining examples all over the place of how not to run a successful mmo and that doesn't stop companies from making the same mistakes over and over again.

At this point, I don't get my hopes up about any mmo any more.  The companies developing and managing them have almost across the board really gone downhill.

As to the issue at hand, it is a bit ridiculous at this point.  I'm not going to rant and rave about it, but it certainly isn't one of this companies better moments.

Nope,
wasn't me. I wholeheartedly agree with the lack of clerics in the game
(it fits the lore perfectly), and even if I didn't, I'm not going to
tell a writer of a game to tailor it's lore around my tastes.

Apology accepted.

About my intentions, they're very simple. I'm requesting a more
informative and realistic communication from Bioware, not to mention a
more professional behavior towards the customers.

We have been
promised just that, and I've waited for results. At the moment, though,
i'm seriously wondering what Victor might be doing.

Mmmh the forum seems to be malfunctioning lately...

Well, whatever we say here, it's like screaming to the abyss as it seems. This thread has been abandoned by Biowarians some time ago and obviously the endless threads about RtO complaints didn't have any effect to them. Too much promotion about the add-ons and nothing at all so far, at least let's hope that the upcoming expansion will be treated differently. Whenever I'll hear again about DLC in any game, I'm going to ignore it completely from now on.

I have to wait til tomorrow, and I'm already luckier than most other europeans since the release date is on the 29th...  we always get the shaft.

On a side note, I have to thank Bioware for making me discover Two Steps from Hell (the ones that composed the latest ME2 trailer) goodness... I got a couple of their CDs and it's really goosebump-worthy...

Glad to see your enjoying it.  I never cared much for Mass Effect.  Not sure why exactly but I never even finished it because it was too boring to me.

One of the only Bioware games I felt that way about.  Glad it's out finally though for those that have been waiting for it.

Subtract the input from 5 or 6 people (you know who you are) and this would be a three page thread. But at least they provide an entertainment alternative to the AWOL RtO. Sadly, they match the linearity of the game, never even a minor deviation from the script.

We did. I put forth a proposal. It was accepted, and now we are in the process of getting me access to various databases and whatnot so that I can compile updates on a regular basis. It's coming, but a change in communication processes is not an overnight affair.

[/quote]

Yeah. Hey Victor, that was almost a week ago. No word. No nothing. Care to throw us a bone here? I waited. I waited practically a whole month before finally opening my mouth to complain here. But this is pretty ridiculous. Having worked for Harmonix, I can tell you our communication with fans certainly ran a bit more smoothly. Granted music video games are a lot different compared to BW's games, but let's be serious now. We all know that video game companies have weekly meetings, where everyone is updated on the processes of what is going on. Everyone in your company, including you, is aware of the status of RtO. So to say nothing to the mass of fans awaiting any sort of word seems, well, pretty bad. So please. Again. Throw us a bone. Thanks.
