Good idea. The concept of points has bugged me from the beginning. Hate having leftovers I can't use.
While they are at it, maybe they can have a sale on some of the ME3 DLC. PC is always left in the cold when it comes to DLC sales

Hmm, I hope this doesn't sound too paranoid, but I think the idea is to detach you from the feeling of spending actual money.
Anyway, I agree that it could be abolished in favor of cash, it does not make any difference after all and seems much less complicated.
