I didn't start ME3 MP 'til this year and the Jugg & Geth Trooper (flamer) helped me get confident in gold. There aren't many kits I'll take to gold and even fewer to plat unless playing with really good players. I'm a scrub.

The salarian infiltrator. Was one of my favorites for a long time. Favorite gold kit now is the Valkyrie, easily.

I started playing Gold before DLC2, so I used DA for my first Gold games. After a while I shifted to GI and Batsol, but DA is still one of my favorites.

Demo days. Asari adept with Carnifex was the boss of all things.

Everything works well on Gold except the Turian Saboteur.
However, these are good classes which I feel are much better (and more fun) on Gold than on Platinum:
- Geth Engineer
- Human Engineer
- N7 Paladin
- Turian Cabal Vanguard
- Turian Sentinel (unless you Incendiary glitch)
- Asari Adept
- Novaguard
- N7 Slayer
- Phoenix Adept

The GI was the one I used to move up. Of course, I didn't check these boards nearly as much and had no idea he was considered OP at the time. I just wanted to give those Hunter mother****ers a piece of their own medicine, and it turned out it worked a lot better than I'd expected.
GI GPS was the only thing I used for like a month, but after Earth released, the Demolisher got me a full extract on the first Plat a friend and I tried. Kinda weird that I rarely use either of these kits anymore. I still love them, though.

Human Sentinel was the very first, but only sporadic. After that it was a Krogan but can't remember whether it was Sentinel or Soldier. I still played more Silver than Gold up until Earth came out. Didn't regularly play plat for quite a bit longer.

Justicar, still like it today
Me too, just not like today. I haven't used that kit in months. I think I will tomorrow if I have any time on eksbawks.

I tried to mix it up so I didn't become dependent on any one kit. My very first was Asari Huntress, but I also used KroSent and Quarian Marksman, which were some of my first rare kits to unlock.

When I moved up to gold a year ago, I primarily used the asari justicar adept and salarian engineer with geth plasma shotgun and arc pistol respectively.
To begin with; I relied a lot on other people to show me the ropes. I kept my head down, tried not to get into too much trouble and made sure to learn as much as I could from those who had more experience than me.
At the time; the two kits I mentioned above were the two kits I was most confident with coming up from silver. I really can't stress that point enough; it's all well and good people on here telling you what's best and/or what to do, but the fact is that you really need to be true to your own playstyle and play what you enjoy/feel comfortable with.
Yes, people have listed all manner of kits from the SI to the Jugg. You may not like those kits; and there's no shame in that! Roll with what you enjoy! If you're having fun, then you tend to perform better. If you're just slugging it, then it's no good for anyone!
Have fun and have confidence in yourself and your chosen kit

When I moved up to gold, I first used the Turian Sentinel.
I also stacked shield recharge on the Batarian sentinel.
I also used the human engineer and the male quarian engineer.

Krogan vanguard. Then again, really started pugging exclusively gold games just before earth dropped.

Started with Human Engineer (safe and versatile), and then quickly became more confident in using Krogan Sentinel (claymore), Destroyer (anything he jolly well feels like), and Batarian Soldier (Assault rifle/grenade combo).
These days most of my games are hosted by people on the far side of the world causing terrible lag. So now it's Juggernaut and destroyer mainly for Gold, plus the Krogard equiped as a soldier (since BC is laggy).
Sadly my Salarian Infiltrator with Black Widow is as unusable as the adepts. Unless I want to solo. Few would put up with my hosting.
