I'll ignore the 10.000.000 people dying in one day part, but spear is a type of weapon, like sword or a bow. I'm talking about an specific model, like an AK-47 of a m4a1.

becouse nobody named theyre weapons in middle ages we dont have specific names like SPEAR1234-spartan
we just say spear and then it only depends on age, culture and region where it was made  but every spear looks almost the same       by the way gladius means sword in latin
polearms means one specific thing-long stick with something hard on its end
(stone,bronze,iron)  and spear is that type of polearm that has hard spike on its end doesnt matter if its from metal or stone it will still be a spear     (and pilum is javelin not spear)

•some flails

I agree about more simplistic weapons, or at least simplistic weapons that also have good stats. Starfang is a great weapon in DA:O but I didn't particularly care for the way it looked. I would have gladly traded it for the Asturian's might or the simple dwarven longsword if they were on par with each other.

Polearms and spears. Almost every other weapon listed in this thread is already in the other dragon age games. I'd rather have more weapon types then just weapons.

That and one handed swords with one handed sword tree talents to go with them.
