I decided to do an import where I killed off my warden and never completed awakening with her either. I got all the way to the end of the game where you meet Leliana at the Chantry during the Faith Quest. Imagine the shock when she tells Hawke she knew the Warden and she married Alistair and was the perfect spouse for him! So I go look in my journal under characters and check out the Hero one. It says she was a Cousland first part, then she gave her like in stopping the Archdemon in the second and then she married the King in the third, wtf??? So I thought about it and thought maybe it is doing it because after the end it gives you the part where you can go back to camp and play any DLC's if you have any left and saved there when importing. So I went back, played through the end fight again, went through all the ending where she is laying dead while Alistair speaks and when the credits roll I exited the game before any of the follow up at camp stuff. Then I imported again and once you are in year one, the Warden entry will show up in your journal. I read it and sure enough it says she died in battle and then the next part says she married the King again (eww Alistair is a bit clingy but married a corpse, thats just sick )

Anyone else ever have this happen? Is there anyway to have an import where your Warden is dead and people like Leliana and Alistair actually speak about her being dead and not married to him? This is the only play through I have left to experience all possible import options into DA:2 and would like to have at least one with my Warden dead for import when DA:3 comes out.

Well I did allow Avernus to live and keep researching in my game so maybe Alistair went to him and see what funky spells he had for a dead body,LOL

FWIW, I have done an import with a dead warden from DAO (without Awakening), and I didn't notice any oddities in DA2. Nevertheless, the import flags can be a bit messed up.

I am wondering if it is due to my Warden being announced as Queen with Alistair at the Landsmeet. Maybe I need to go back and have her only decide he will be King without her.

Its a bit strange because Bohdan told Hawke the Warden died. It is only in my journal and with Leliana that says differently. I will have to keep playing and see what Alistair says as King.

As DA:Inquisition will be released for the next-gen consoles (which aren't backwards compatible), they will probably have to come up with some alternate import mechanism anyway.

what do you mean about it not being compatible for imports?

I found out what went wrong with it. My Warden had romanced Alistair and in the Landsmeet she was to be his Queen with him. So I guess whatever it checks in the importing it read this even tho she died. I went back and redid the Landsmeet and named him King alone, but kept the romance going anyway and the ending played out the same, but the import read her as dead and never married to Alistair. So no Necro moments for Alistair now :)

Because it will be cross-platform.

Anyways, there was a big announcement today. about how they're handling imports in the next game. Hopefully it will clear up these little issues.
