It's Flemeth. It's Morrigan. It's the OGB learning how to shape-shift. It's the acting eyes and ears for Witches of the Wild, or slumbering Old Gods (or maybe Mad Hermits).

Or it's DA:Inquisition's version of the Hook Beetle.

As long as it is not that annoying owl from Ocarina of time...

Talking about that who's up for a new "navi" flying around saying Hey Listen!

What if it's Flemeth? dun dun duuunn.

It's probably just a mini companion. You could use the bird to send out messages or something. And if you didn't romance anyone you can have deep conversations with the bird about how lonely you are.

I love both of those possibilities. Make it so, BioWare.

It could also be Morrigan! No doubt her powers have increased in the ten-plus years since Origins, and she was always a shape-changer with the abilitiy to transform into multiple animals.

And a black raven suits her SO, so, so well.

I love the theory that it's Morrigan, since she always struck me as very birdlike for some reason. Plus in Origins she was a magpie for shiny objects for gifts and she did mention to (and taunt) Shale she knows how to transform into a bird.

I always imagined that she actually was one of the crows at Ostagar. It'd make sense and is perfectly fitting for her character to scope out the prospective Wardens. See the quality of the men she's going to be trying to get pregnant by for the Old God Baby. She outright states she was spying on them whilst they entered the Wilds, but it'd make even more sense for her to have actually been following them from Ostagar, hence how she knew when they came into the forest.

Then again, maybe one of the backgrounds for the Inquisitor is "Homeless Pigeon Lady".

It could just be a metaphor that the Inquisitor might die at the end of the game. Ravens and Crows often are symbolism for death.

I really hope it's a mini-companion rather than Morrigan, a raven would be so much cooler than a Mabari. :)

That said it's more likely to be Morrigan or just a recurring motif for the Inquisitor.

I hope it's an animal companion of some sort.

Ooh, I found another one :) I feel as though it's a little more than coincidence at this stage...

It does seem to be showing up pretty consistently.

I like the theory that says it is Morrigan, being all G-man to the Inquisitor's Gordon Freeman.

On second thought, she could be the Vortigaunts to Flemeth's G-man.

It better not be Morrigan.
If it is, I hope that we aren't stuck with it/her.

I have a feeling you looove Morrigan. On another note, it wouldn't be a to far off theory if it was Morrigan. She's a shapeshifter who adorns her clothes with black feathers, also she seems to be named after the Irish goddess who is often associated with ravens and crows.

i guess it's morrigan she used shapeshifting right aswell spying on you in dragon age 1 in the forrest as a squiral so wy not as a raven or crow aswell,or flemeth both had armor with raven or crow featers on them right?

it would be offcourse super to have that power as a shapeshift option to fly and discuver the big land

I hope the raven is Morrigan, travelling with the Inquisitor surreptitiously.

I also hope I can talk to it, like Crow from The Longest Journey.

She sometimes appears in the form of a crow, flying above the warriors <- When I saw this I thought about Morrigan being the crow/raven with Inquistor. It'd be cool if she was a messanger as well as someone who could scope out battlefields for us, the spying part would be cool also. I can see Morrigan being very useful in the next game, both as a human and a bird.

That's the phantom goddess. The Morrigan in Dragon Age is more closely reminiscent of Morgan Le Fey. If anything, Flemeth resembles phantom goddess Morrigan of Irish mythology more so because of her body-switching.

Can't be bothered to find a link, but I believe it was Mr. Gaider on his twitter. Might be wrong about the source, but it has been confirmed.

Apparently Gaider's tumblr a day ago, so sorry we didn't use our crystal balls before engaging in later-disproven speculations.

Now, that's outrageous... Mabaris are the only trustworthy fellows in Thedas... Also they're smart enough to don't speak and go on and on with ridiculous whines as everyone else.
