Thanks, I miss those damn guardian on Wave 11, because now if I use all 6 missiles on Wave 11 Cerberus Gold people thank me for it. Don't thank me, thank the relentless Dragoon and Phantom death squads for that.

Everyone on PC is a modder in one way or the other. Cheating is something else and modding does not neccessarily mean cheating. Don't assume if I mod a few harmless things for my enjoyment my intention is to cheat, it is just to enjoy the game I already like, even more. Most of the people who have played with me understand this.

where was the insult?

There's an implicit assumption in the sentence that a lot of modders do it because they aren't good at the game. The "..." is the part that shows he's specfiically aiming towards someone in particular...perhaps the subject of this thread?

I have a quadruple overload in my coalesced. Granted, I also have it set so 55 enemies are on the field shooting at you at once. Some people call that retarded/frustrating/waste of time. I call it fun.

I have played some games with friends who mod platinum in order to make it harder (because they played to much and were boring). Be sure this way is not a cheating one!
When you remove small mobs and only keep bosses, you can't take a breathe during waves.
You can find again this sensation of fear from the beginning (when you tried gold with Avenger...).
This is more fun than soloing to have same sensation.

This is different stuff, okay? How don't you understand? His modding is plain increase of weapons effectiveness without any hinderance. It's like using a very weak analog of super damage cheat.

Just so there's no misunderstandings:

There's modding and there's modding.
I'm a fan of the whole modding thing, I'd love to be able to try Husk mode on console for example, looks very interesting.
This is modding to make new game modes, the game more interesting or less cheap. It's cool because everyone can join the fun.

What Leland is talking about is modding to cheat or - more precisely - to give yourself an advantage over other players. If only you can take advantage from the mods, it's not to have fun - it's cheating.
Even FTFTL here said it himself, simply changing damage values is crossing the line and cheating.
He admitted to being a cheater.
If you need to give yourself an advantage over other players just to outscore them, you're clearly not a good player.
It's not about scorewhoring, that's a whole different debate - it's about the fact that he cheats just to outscore other players and is even stupid enough to brag about it.

People just have to try it. If somebody tried and does not like, that's one thing. If people are just venting off after eating some spoiled food, that's another thing.

Why are you so obsessed about the Pistol Heavy Barrel I hardly use that thing, it adds 50 weight to the weapons with only 15% damage increase. I prefer using the SMG High Velocity Barrel on most weapons. Besides 15% extra damage will not make a "clearly not a good player" into a good player.

BS, FTFTL is a very good top-notch player. He does not need to do anything. But I presume at 2000 + hours, the game gets boring and there is a need to try new funny things.

Pretty much this. FTFTL is better than I am, and I'm going to just brag around here and say I think I'm pretty good at the game already. So, in his defense, I don't think he NEEDS any kind of unfair advantages to be good. He's great. I believe he's just doing it because the game can get (and has gotten, imo) monotonous after over a year of horde mode.


Edit: And let's just be clear here. This is a PLAYER vs. COMPUTER video game. That is, we are ALL ON THE SAME TEAM. To say that cheating is unfair to other players, to "give an unfair advantage" in this context makes little sense, in my view. Everything he does to help himself helps his allies. Sure, it may not fit each player's definition of "fun", but in terms of gameplay, he is only helping everyone win the game faster/get more credits/get more points.

Let's please recall that points are SHARED in this game. NOT individually partitioned.

Nah, the switching mods onto other weapons is child's play.  You literally only have to add them to the list of allowed mods with copy/paste.  It's, for example, way easier than separating use/storm keybindings.

Ignore what I said then, I'm just a newb on PC.

We dropped that thread because BSN was dead at the time and revived it yesterday. Several hours ago, it was locked. 

It was just a result of a bunch of guys discussing random stuff, no need to take it cereally.
