Okay, so for the next Mass Effect game, I've been wanting to use the Origins stories similar to those from Dragon Age. In fact, I find it quite surprising that we haven't seen such a system implemented since (at least not to my knowledge) and I think many other fans want something similar for the next Mass Effect game too.

So, here, if anyone is interested, we can post any personal ideas of how they should go:

Set in an intermittent time after the Sheperd Trilogy (Anywhere from five to a hundred years) some new threat, (that isn't going to destroy the galaxy, but we'd rather not happen anyway) has come, and we need someone (I.E. you) to stop it.

So the Council has gone scouting for the best of the best to find a new Spectre to lead the forces of good and all things spacey agains this new threat (Or possibly an existing Spectre)

So, the Origins then consist of the four species that make up the Council, so you can be a Spectre, (and the developers won't have to record the dialogue for an Elcor the entire game). So first step, choose your race.

Human
Salarian
Asari
Turian

I think it's simply downright expected that these characters will be voiced, they may not have been for Dragon Age Origins, but good voice acting is officially Biowares "thing", they voiced an entire MMO afterall, probably Dragon Age 3, which also has multiple races for the main character, will have multiple voice actors. After all, Sheperd had 2 (male and female), which many people probably only heard one if they only played as one gender for the entire trilogy. On that note, they'd only need six voices, 2 Human, 2 Turian, and 1 Salarian and Asari considering how their genders work.

Each specie would also probably have their own bonuses outside of dialogue, such as combat. Asari would be Biotic Specialists, Salarians Tech, Turians Combat, and Humans would be good allrounders.

Next step would be to pick your history similar to how you did for Sheperd, with a backstory, and Military Service. Backstory would likely be Spacer, Homeworld, Colonist, or perhaps something more specific per alien, but that would mostly be for character and backstory. Meanwhile however, your Military Service, again if going by Mass Effect 1, Ruthless, War Hero, Soul Survivor, would BE your actual Origin Story. Maybe the Sole Survivor Turian story could be something similar to an Apocolypse Now story about having to disobey orders, and some such business.

After your Military Service/Origin story, depending, you are either commended for your service, disgraced, or some other third option, but regardless your ability to not be dead impresses the Council, and decide to put you to the test, which becomes the first mission to become a Spectre. You are given teammates, a ship, and all that jazz.

So, in conclusion, what do you think? This is what I am honestly hoping for. Dragon Age Origins did an impressive job, and I can only imagine that a New Mass Effect game on the next generation would only be more so. And there's a lot you could do. Depending on the time frame, the war vets could be survivors from the battle of the Citadel, or the unified species surname (like Cousland from DAO) could be related to squadmates from the Sheperd Trilogy, imagine playing as a rogue turian sniper who goes by 'Vakarian' mad scientist salarian who did Pater and Sullivan in the equivelent of High School. When he was five.

So, do you want Origin Stories?
If not why?
Would you implement them differently from what I suggested?
What Race/Class/Backstory/Military Service would you be?
Any ideas for race specific backstories/military services?
Any ideas for Race names?

Please respond, and if you don't, thank you for getting this far.

Oh, and before I forget, while I think the new games are better off with a fresh start, they should probaly have an option to just give some minor details on Sheperd, namely Gender, reputation, backstory, military service, that kinda stuff.

They could survive without all that stuff, but that would be nice if it were thrown in.

Unless they do something special with the origins of the character why bother, for I disliked the fact in Dragon Age: Origins after the first hour our origin meant nothing so they were left feeling disconnected from the rest of the game.

As a person that normally plays a human character, I don't want the origin broken down by race for that leaves all but one that doesn't appeal to me, I much rather if they were implemented broken down by class so Adept/Vanguard, Engineer/Sentinel, and Soldier/Infiltrator that way no matter what race you pick you aren't locked in and then have a little variation if there is a race selection in the game.

If they aren't going to bother using the base races from Mass Effect there is no point in doing something like this, for I don't want to play "new undiscovered race".
