I know what the word means. I'm trying to figure out what you could possibly mean when you use it.

Do you like relationship drama or adventure?

Do you mean drama like soap opera drama, or drama like the Wire drama?

Interestingly enough, soap operas are actually named because they were sponsored by cleaning product companies (Dial, Proctor and Gamble, Lever, etc.). This was because they aired in the daytime, when the largest audience in 1930's America was women, who were the most likely to buy the cleaning products.

Never mind. If you didn't catch what I was saying, while keeping my original statement in context, you will never-ever truly understand. No offense.

Summary: Men do not play with dolls.

Hmmm. I don't think he didn't UNDERSTAND what you were saying, per se. Just trying to point out that you sound a little ridiculous. But I guess that last comment kind of cleared up the hope of that being dispelled.

I think most people are cowards, so titles like "real man" mean little when the person is a coward.

Cowards are too afraid to do what they want. Their lives are predictable, as they're only capable of doing what people give them permission to do. Most people, but waaah! Whatever.

Some people want a romance based game, but don't want to play a hentai dating sim. At the moment, BioWare games are the only real option for them. Heck, I can't think of any other AAA western games that even offers a romance option with any sort of depth. The next closest things we have all tend to be very shallow in their execution (Skyrim, for example).

Point is, if you don't want a romance there's a lot of options out there for you, but if you do want a romance your options are extremely limited, so don't begrudge people wanting more romance from one of the few developers who offer them.

I hope Bioware sticks to their tried and true formula because I've enjoyed every one of their games.  They have perfected the western, story/character-based RPG in my opinion.  I doubt I'll ever get tired of their blueprint, as long as they keep it fresh with new features, refinements, good stories, etc.  And yes, that blueprint does include romances.  I mean, the romances aren't the main aspect of the blueprint, but they are an integral part.

Same idea with Zelda.  Haven't played a Zelda game I didn't like yet, even though they all follow the same blueprint.  Trying new things is overrated when you've struck gold.  What if Coca-Cola decided not to make Coke anymore for a year, but to try something else, like an orangish flavored soda?

Do you really want to live in a world without Coca-Cola?

Thanks to your picture I read that all in Heisenberg's voice. Which made it come across as awesome and threatening all at once.

shrugs.
OF course the romances shouldn't be the focal point of the game but they should add to it.
Romances are a big deal to many players I suspect .
I am one of those.
For me it isn't about sexual stimulation like Bionut says but it's realism.
Falling in love is real. Many of us have experienced it and through subrogation a big word where we step into the warden's shoes or hawke's shoes and relive that experience through them.
DA shouldn't become a hack n slash like some players want it to be.
Blood, gore, and genocide.
If it becomes that I won't buy it.
So Laidlaw and Darrah need to think again.

Apart from, you're not using subrogation correctly, as you're not taking over a third party's legal rights.

And if you're using a game as a proxy to experience that, well I'd recomend going to see a professional as you're on the road to bat crap crazy.

I played a dating sim where your boyfriend kills you, dismembers you, and makes a suicide pact with your preserved head after stealing it from a lab owned by a dangerous anti-human paramilitary organization. That game was cool.

Ideally he would also have questionable mental judgement that he blames on the voices in his head.

I enjoy the romance aspects of BioWare games, in particular Dragon Age and Mass Effect, as their presentation and ability to make me connect with the characters was the strongest.

That said, I don't want a dating sim either. I don't watch romantic-comedies, but I like having a romance sub-plot in my hard sci-fi drama.

There's a middle ground there which I think BioWare games hit right on the mark.

That's nothing, the one I played had me killed for refusing to date a highschool-attending Pigeon.

I wish I was joking.

I like romances in Bioware games. They add depth to the game and characters. Infact I want even more of that!

What is the point of dying heroically if there are no women crying beside your heroic body/tomb???!!

Many it never ceases to amaze me how many people have no idea what the hell they're talking about when they compare BW's games to dating sims.

Just finished one where I'm forced to romance the antagonist and if I dare choose a wrong option I end up getting shot.

In fact, if the GI article is to be believed, romances ensure a little more quality for everyone in the companions.

Romances have always been optional. Don't want a romance, reject any advances, and play the game as you want. Of all the things to complain about, romances are pretty small time, compared to other issues.
