It seems that most people on these forums judge a character more on their romance than on who they are as characters. So many request for arbitrary trait based romances such as kossith romances, dwarf romances, elf romances, templar or mage romances, gay romances, bisexual romances, even saw a poster request a platonic sexual romance...I don;t even.

I'd imagine that for most people somebody's gender is in fact more important than their personality when it comes to romance.

But should it be the most important factor in judgeing a characters worth?

Putting optional content in the game that I would not personally choose to see is a total waste of resources! Anyone who posts in a thread on the BSN discussing romances is obviously only interested in the romances and that is wrong! Everyone who wants Bioware to have more mature romance scenes is obviously a perv or a social justice warrior!

Did I miss anything? can this thread end now?

Define mature? As in "this relationship is mixed at best and we get into fights when we disagree" or "I want a full frontal shot right out of a cgi porno"? Which type of mature are we talking about?

Also, I have yet to see a thread about a characters personality, and if it did exist, it was severly outweighed by the sheer amount of threads demanding companions that meet the arbitrary attribute quota.

Who cares?

you forgot "go play a dating sim because the only reason you could possibly be playing dragon age instead of one is because you forgot they existed and not because you actually enjoy dragon age and happen to like the romance the most"

well you did just assert that you think playing the game for the romance is creepy and makes them miss out on a fun experience as if theres a set definition of whats fun in a game so yeah

I said "slightly creepy" not full on creepy and maybe I should've reworded the second part to 'miss out on another fun experience than just the romance' <_<

Does it define who they are as a person? Because I very much doubt it does, nor is it the most important part of themselves. Same with race.

Reading these forums though, you'd think the opposite was true, that race and sexuality was the only thing that matters in a character.

Some people think overthink sex.

And when Bioware makes a dating game your concern will be justified.

When somebody is writing about what sort of charcter they'd like as a romance option I'd wager that gender and availability would be the starting point for most, and that's the sort of posts you were talking about.

Considering I am trying to understand your point in order to properly emphasize or raise concerns with what you are saying, I'd say that I care what you mean by mature.

ok i'll bite

i dont see the problem here, the forum is not the game and you can be certain bioware will not turn dragon age into a dating sim, so you're fears are invalid as is this topic

Right, of course.

Oh, and how dare someone enjoy something in a different way than me! There is only one way to enjoy it, and that is my way!

My point is that whatever your definitions of the term I'm using, people around here care way too much how other people enjoy these games.

Romances are fine. I don't really care if the LI is male, female, elf, etc. It's all nice when it does go the way you want, but some characters are more interesting than others.

I don't think you need to worry, Gaider said that the romance content wouldn't be more or less important than in other games, no matter how many threads there are about romance on the bsn.

Look, I don't want it to be a Dating Sim either, but I think that every good story needs a certain degree of love and romance.
So far I liked Bioware's approach: while they didn't dominate, they added nicely to the main chars personal story.
For example in ME3, when Shepard is completely devastated by his last dream, and Tali says she will always be there for him.

In ME2 if Tali is your LI, almost every dialog abord the Normady is related to how she and Shepard can have sex. More or less safety first talk.

Good. I don't want a dating game.

I will get what I need if they put in just as much romance content as they did in DAO, DA2 and MES.

It could be.  I was under the impression the love scenes will be pretty steamy for DA:I  B)

I was watching the latest Game Informer video and noticed how a suspicious tube of lotion and some tissues were left out in the office.

I mean it could be nothing.... ^_^

Isn't that what you're doing though? Getting mad because there are other fans who don't like the romance options and feel the lins of dialouge and word budget spent on them could be used for other things?

Threads complaining about how there are too many threads discussing a certain topic never fail to amuse me. Because inevitably it means the topic in question only ends up being discussed more.

I actually don't mind or quite like the romance options, but if Bioware intends to keep doing then atleast give them more depth instead of being what Saints Row 4 mimic'd perfectly lol

I'm only trying to get an understanding of why some people would pay for a full game just for a small aspect of it, seems odd to me
