First of I must that I believe that Collectors are working for the Reapers because 1. they wan to wipe out humanity (who just beasted the Reapers), 2. they have husks (and lost of them), and 3. they have direct energy weapons (LASERS!!!!!!). Now the Geth were synthetic and viewed the Reapers as gods but what’s the Collectors excuse? They're giant bug people! Any predictions?
Any predictions about why the Collectors decide to be evil with the Reapers?

Actually, we only know that they are collecting humanity, we don't know if they want to wipe them out.

Even so that's still pretty sinister.

See the other thread; Collected Humans. Also, who's to say any of what you are assuming about the Collectors is true? Who's to say the Collector actually don't want to destroy humanity, just destroy the Reapers.

Maybe it's sinister, maybe it's not. Do you think it's sinister to collect stamps, or butterflies? They might just see us as worthless insects.

indoctrination? maybe they serve the same function as the keepers. well, not the same function, per se, but rather work for the reapers in the same way. there's talk of the collectors in the previous game on one of the descriptions of the planets, so it's not like they're new. they're just newly targeting humanity.

I think the Reapers have a thing for the insect races. Either they're easier to control or have some greater use, like more specialization within the race, faster breeding cycle, hive mentality, etc.
They enslaved/created/manipulated the Keepers, an insectile race, into maintaining the Citadel for at least 100,000 years and likely much longer.
They may have been instrumental in driving the Rachni into a warlike frenzy.
And they may be utilizing the Collectors to do their dirty work or as a contingency.
I don't think the Collectors created the Reapers, however. They'd have to be remarkably old and have some sort of amnesty with the Reapers, since I doubt even they could repel an entire invasion fleet.if we stand a chance of bringing them down on our own.

I actually think that the Collectors are enemies of the Reapers. One of the big themes of Mass Effect 1 was the idea of organics fighting synthetics. I think we'll se that same theme in ME2 withs ynthetic Reapers vs. the very organic (organic looking guns and ships, using bees as weapons) Collectors.
Still doesn't mean the Collectors are good or anything.

I think the collectors are building an army by collecting humans and converting them into CRAZY ALIEN BEANS.

Divide and Conquer. Indoctrinate a bunch of humans, start civil war, come in and pick up the pieces.
As for the collectors, I believe they are a hive mind, which if you indoctrinate the main Collector, you indoctrinate the entire species. So for a Reaper they are Instant Army.

Maybe, like Saren, they were promised they would be spared as long as they proved themselves useful?
This also seems likely.

As has been stated, the definition of 'evil' itself is in question regarding them. You'll see alot of folks on the boards here defending Cerebus saying they're the real good guys. For all we know as yet, the Collectors could be studying for ways to defeat or gain resistances against the Reapers, or methods of turning their own technology against them. So what if you wipe out a few dozen colonies now if it means you can save the galaxy later, long after Shephard is dead?

Spoilers!!!
The collocetrs are most likely building an army to stop the Reapers, nothing is knowen about them expect they are very advanced and organic. The thing I look is thay contracted the Shadow broaker to capture Shepard after the attack on his ship and bring him to the Collectors. That is the main plot of the comic book where Liara is contrated by Cerberus to rescue Shepard. This tells us that the attack on the Normandy was not random, they wanted Shepard for some reason. Either to get rid of the only threat to the Reapers or to build a super Shepard (I know lame) to destory the Reapers. Even TIM thinks Shepard is the only one who can defeat the Reapers.
End of spoilers

In Mass Effect Ascension it mentions that The Collectors give rare more advanced technology (that's years ahead of what everyone else has) to people who supply them with certain things to collect. I'm guessing that since The Collectors at the time were the guys with the biggest gun would work with the Reapers since they have the even bigger ones.

Who says Husks are reaper technology? All thats said is that dragon teeth are of ancient technology the Geth have found.
They could be Collector technology for all we know.

The developers have made it clear that the reason why the Collectors are seen as a such a big threat is that they are using Reaper technology. I'm betting that if they have any original technology at all, it's those bio-organic armours.
And as for why, isn't it pretty obvious? They're indoctrinated like everyone who serves the Reapers directly.

1. They were indoctrinated
2. They surrendered willingly and made a deal so they can survive and gain power. Reapers for some reason decided to accept.
3. They work against reapers and abduct humans so they can research what made them kill Sovereign.

I think the Collectors are part of the process the Reapers use to harvest sentient life. Other than that, I can't really think of how those huge ships would be able to "reap" people. The similarity in names between reapers, keepers, and collectors makes me think that they are all involved.

Whatever it is I'm expecting a huge plot twist in this game or ME3. Considering the trilogy does follow the common trilogy rules that is.
