I bought this game for the Xbox, since my husband and I can't comfortably play at the computer together, and he hasn't played a game on the computer since the 90's. Besides, I still have some Microsoft monies sitting on my Live account, so if anything fun comes out for download, I already have cash set aside to purchase.
The controls on the Xbox are fine for the most part, but just like the PC counterparts that have posted about controls for "magic", the Xbox seems to suffer from the same problems. I chose the Jew class, and was given the Dragonsbreath (I think that was what it was called...lol!) as my first magic spell. I should have recorded my husband and I trying just to follow Cartman's tutorial.

It took us at least five minutes to finally fire off a successful mega-fart. Tutorial wise, that was hella-long. I too noticed that using the spell in the environment, doesn't require the same set of controls, as it does in combat (or the tutorial).
One thing is for certain, I suck at blocking.

Now having said that, I have managed to build my d-bag fairly well offensively, so I most certainly am getting through combat. In fact, even with me being bad at blocking, I am really enjoying the combat. (the ambient banter during combat is also funny, and adds to the experience. heh!)
Like a few other posters, I am exploring a LOT! The side-scroll effect reminds me a bit of Lugi's Mansion (which my husband and I played together as our first Gamecube game, back in the day), and I find it fits the "episodic" feel of South Park. My only complaint is MORE LOOT! (I am an admitted "magpie" when it comes to the shinies.

) Because I am spending so much time exploring, I haven't progressed terribly far into the main quests. (this is partly due to husband going to bed early, and me still wanting to play.) No matter though...I have never been troubled with taking much longer at games, than the so called "estimated gameplay time".
As for saving progress, it reminds me of how Zelda (or at least the Zelda games I have played), seem to handle saves. I would prefer a different save system, but it is, what it is. At least for now, the relatively small playing field I have opened, means that I don't have to back track to much, if I screw up on "checkpoint" saves. I have gotten in the habit of manually saving, right after I see Wellington Bear show up, in the bottom right hand corner. Whether I am wasting my time doing that, I will find out later today. LOL!
My overall reaction though is....FUN! Seriously. Even with some of the features (saves/magic) being slightly troublesome, the town, dialogue/banter, combat and exploration is just plain fun.

I don't doubt that it helps, that my husband and I are fans of the show, but even still, I would recommend this game to someone who didn't watch the show (so long as they didn't utterly despise the show...heh!)
Ohhh....and one last thing. If anyone who plays on the Xbox has any good tips for the controls on magic, I would be grateful to read any/all advice. Thanks!
