Then again, they can just enhance the Keep to ask more questions. No re-writing things from scratch, just adding a few more fields/items to fill out on the existing file.

And then again they still have to tell gamers to once again alter parts of their world state because they added new questions. It is simply easier for everyone involved to include all the choices from the start so that nobody is expected to have to make some additional changes. I can't see them expecting of gamers to stay up-to-date about queries being added about the games they already included.

Well, part of the impetuous for making the keep a website in the first place was the ease with which a website might be updated later as opposed to a download.

I wouldn't count on most choices appearing, atleast not for the reason you argue.

Yes, it was made to be updated with future installments in mind. I don't believe it was made to keep adding choices for the two existing games considering they can already add all of the flags which were already included in the save files. It just makes little to no sense to not add all of the flags from previous save games at this moment. It makes it a whole lot easier for every single one of us if we don't have to go back to make changes to already featured games.

Which is an argument in itself for the Keep to come with a CC. The Warden and Hawke might show up in DA:I or they might not. They might show up in DA5. It all depends on what BioWare wants to do. Having the players recreate their PCs now while they still remember them would be the most opportune time to collect this data. It would make things more expedient for the developers if/when they decide to move the Warden's/Hawke's story forward.

They've already said there's no CC in the Keep so that option is really off the table. At least for now.

True, but I imagine there is going to be some confirmation or "re-up" process required when going into DA4 with the Keep. And if there were new questions from old games, wouldn't that be a sign to people that maybe they were including content specific to that choice? I know lots of people who wouldn't risk NOT filling out such updates.

Not everyone wants to sit there and answer six hundred questions about every aspect of the world state, or whatever.

Can you imagine how offputting and intimidating that is for new players? It's about the least welcoming entry point into the IP possible.

The Keep is for players to decide their save game state, yes, but it's also a tool for new people to catch up on the universe. It can't do the latter job if it has too many questions about things they've never heard of. There's a balance between depth and ease-of-use that they need to find.

"All of the choices" is way, way, way too many.

I think the best thing would be to have a limited selection of choices for a basic import for new players, just the important ones.   But also a more exhaustive advanced option for people who want it.

For us PC people we should be able to import, but alas, we are an after-thought nowadays.

What? No. Keep is an all-platform solution that doesn't have the bugs or data issues that plagued save imports. Why complicate that by introducing a stupid PC vs console argument?

Random spouting

Back in the day, I applied and managed to get chosen for beta on City of Heroes.  Then, I applied for and managed to get beta on Guild Wars... and then there was Simcity... and I'm sure there are somethings in there I'd forgotten but I don't recall ever chomping at the bit and checking my email 100x/day to hear news than I have for Dragon Age Keep.  And, on that note...  *goes to refresh her email again*

I meant import it INTO the keep. I'm not trying to start anything, it's just simple logic that since PC peeps do not have the issue from going from one console to the other we should have that option.

Importing into the keep is a nice idea. But, honestly I am okay with starting from scratch. I guess I'm a little odd in that regard. I haven't visited this thread in a while thigh so I'm not sure if if they've released any new information about the Keep since I've been here. Maybe E3 will have more info? It's hard to say.

I agree. ^ As long as the choices we pick carry over I don't care about the ability to import or not. :3

But that doesn't solve the issue of your save being b0rked at all, which is the problem that gave rise to the Keep to begin with - the software not reading the save right.

Importing to the keep will add another domain of subsystems. If we import into the keep we would have to ask a few questions of how the data is formatted per each platform and also ask the questions of what to do if they are collisions. For the later, should the keep use the updated DA2 flag or should it maintain the dragon age origins one? if you killed zevran and he appears in DA2, should the keep import the decision you made in that mission for DA2? Technically he is not alive in this world state.

I could care less about actually importing anything at all into the keep actually.  I pretty well know what major decisions I made along the way and the odd time I have games with one choice or two I wish I had not made.  I'd have no problem at all just whipping through a bunch of check boxes to start a game.  (I realize most others are not in favor of this.)

Well I think the issue comes in when they are people that have played through the series like 10> times. If there is a possibility they want to try out all of their playthroughs, they would have to create a checklist for each one.

I have no problem myself because I am in the same position as you.

personally I would love a lot of options. I could set up all sorts of scenarios that I may or may not have done in the previous games. I would set them up just to see how the game changes. A true new experience each time.

I'm convinced I'm never going to get beta access so when is this thing just gonna go live for everyone?

Around September time frame from what they've said.

There should be more closed beta invites coming either just before or after E3 if the pattern is to be followed and believed. Don't lose hope just yet. I am hoping myself for a June invite. Open beta will happen in August I think. Two months before the release of the game. That's just my opinion though.

I would totally accept an invitation to participate in the "Keep" beta.  But at this point I would decline an invitation to the actual game beta.

My brand-new Digital Storm rig is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.  It was ordered specifically to be able to play Inquisition on max. settings with min. lag.

I'm not going to to prejudice my first playthrough with anything from a beta version of the game!

Will another wave of beta invites for DA Keep go out before E3?

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

Unlikely to be more invites until previous feedback is addressed. No set time frame.
