Agreed^ I will check all the boxes in the world if it means my world is more personalized to me.

So would I, but I imagine they want to make this accessible for newcomers to the series as well, and creating context for 300 choices would be equivalent to turning half of DA:O and DA2 into a text RPG.  That's a little further than I think they'd go.

It is already a given any YouTube playthrough you watch will likely not look like your Shephard. Why should sex matter, when the race and appearance could as well?

My Hispanic Shephard will never be on a YouTube playthrough. That doesn't mean I can't find a video showing me what happens in ME3 if I had downloaded Katsumi's DLC.

You did not get the Katsumi DLC ! Garrus says: Shame on you ;P

But that presumably is exactly why people don't want to watch a youtube video. It's not about seeing the content, but experiencing it. I could watch the Citadel DLC on youtube, but I don't really care for seeing it.

It sure as heck beats playing a game over for 40 hours.

I get what you are saying - I'm just saying replaying a game should be done for enjoyment, not to set up the perfect world state. The. Keep allows players to do that - play the game for its entertainment instead of a compulsion to create the perfect set of flags... I just find it funny that people would participate in such a compulsion in the first place.

A feature like The Keep isn't aimed at newcomers to the series for they won't have any context behind any of the choices from the previous games unless they played them, I would think they would just use the "default" for the game and not even bother with The Keep at all.

Agreed. Which is a reason I'm surprised they didn't try including it as part to the game itself, instead of a separate website. I understand the benefits the cloud based solution brings, it just seems like something no one but the most dedicated players will do.

I can see a few good things about it being online.  Such as if there is a bug in system they can fix it and not leave it in like Zevran, they can expand on the import options if they wish to add more choices for future DLC, or they don't have to have the same programmers as the main game working on it.

I imagine its aimed at all players.  Newcomers may not care going in for the first playthrough, but they may change their minds once they find out that different world states alter the content.  The Keep will be designed to be accessible for those people who don't know the previous games intimately (And those who simply don't remember every detail of a game they last played three years ago.)

Agreed. Also, a central storing mechanism means that players won't have to re-set their world states up every installment of the series.

Still - I'd be willing to bet that the percentage of players who pull data from the Keep will be in the single digits. Unless there are some pretty clear prompts and integration of the website (such as the game prompts the player to connect to it and enter in their world state flags whenever they start a new game), I doubt enough people even know that it exists, let alone what would be required to use it.

There'll be a prompt in the character creator for sure, maybe even a link.

I'll take that bet. I'm figuring it will be 15-20%. 50-60% of players won't have anything to import, of course.

I brushed off DA:O today and during the course of playing the game I was reminded that it was possible for the Warden to have a love triangle with Morrigan and Leliana. I'm wondering how this will play out in the Keep. As we  know the Warden is a complicated man of few words  ;) and it's fitting that his love life be just as complicated. My Warden broke it off with Morrigan at her request and pursued Leliana. Then he took part in the Dark Ritual and eventually followed his first woman/baby's-mother through the Eluvian.

Will the Keep allow this???

Sold!

I'm already thinking of ways I can spend those sweet, delicious SImoleons...

This interview ...

... confirms that there are around three hundred decisions. Also, apparently if you choose to be online with Inquisition, it will upload information to the Keep and store it for potential future games.

The little things may not matter even a little for the Inquisitor. Some choices may be mere blips which doesn't alter anything for DAI (if it never even gets mentioned) and it could also not matter for a future DA game. I really wouldn't want to see them add choices which they will never even address.

The character models for the Warden and Hawke don't have much to do with the Keep really. We know that there is no CC inside the Keep, so if we end up being able to change the appearance of those characters it would have to happen inside the game.

And as far as I know there hasn't been any news on the matter of imports. The last comment was about them still trying to make it work with the hint it may end up not happening. I am of the mind they will probably not get it to work at all.

No they may not matter to the inquisitor, but that does not mean they won't matter to me/the player.  I mean to the Inquisitor it might just be something inconsequential, just another thing in the masses, but I myself might recognise it as something I potentially did.  I think that'd be fun and  more personal knowing that I helped create the world I'm playing as the Inquisitor in now, even if they don't recognise that.  Perhaps just wishful thinking, but still, fingers crossed on my part.

I have a feeling we might just be left with default character models for The Warden/Champion, oh well.

Thanks for the info though, hopefully it all works itself out.  :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% with you. I mostly just wanted to make my lame Femshep dominates youtube joke. Then we got sidetrack with a real discussion.

I haven't seen a bunch of DA2 because there's no way I'm suffering through 90 hours of DA:O just to hear a line from Merril about the Dalish Warden.

I love the idea behind the keep! It seems like a great compromise to give fans what they want in a way that won't bankrupt Bioware.

Of course I could actually try it out with the game and decide I don't like it, which is why I say I love the idea. Wish I was in the beta :( Can't wait to get the chance to play with it especially after watching the interview posted by Andraste_Reborn (thank you - thought I watched all the E3 interviews but It seems I missed one).

All in all, I am super excited about this game. Can't wait until Oct. 7th!!!!
