That would depend entirely on the degree of their involvement,

I agree but it's been pretty well established that Varric and Morrigan are going to be big parts of the game no matter what choices were made in previous games regarding characters and who lived or died. Not to mention Leliana(another big big part of DAI who was in Origins) and Alistair(if he lived). Cassandra was also involved even minutely in 2 so I think her and Varric might have a few things to talk about and work out between them that the Inquisitor would probably get involved in. Just some examples of ways I believe that previous choices will and could effect this world even though the Inquisitor wouldn't exactly know of them and that they can effect our Inquisitor.

Does anyone know if the keep is going to have some kind of support for saved files? So, while I know we can't directly transfer our choices from the first two games to the third, will we be able to upload the files to help us select the choices we made more accurately? It just recently finished replaying DA2 to remind myself of the main events, but I won't get a chance to do the same for DA:O since it's so much bigger (I remember a lot of DA:O, but I am sure that are some details that I can't recall).

Edit: Sorry for my ignorance of The Keep, I have to admit I don't know much about how it will work...

So you may want to watch this interview here by NerdAlert towards the end of the video Cameron Lee and the interviewer discuss a bit about Dragon Age keep.  Good interview to watch in whole but the only interview that has had a bit more discussion about Dragon Age Keep.

I still don't see why they can't have the import option for PS360 consoles and make the keep essential for PS4/XBONE & DA4 onwards, would be slightly less hassle for the last gen players imho.

One of the reasons they're implementing the Keep for everyone is that there a bunch of broken flags in the import from DAO to DA2. The Keep gives us a way of avoiding carrying bad data forward into Inquisition. It also means the energy they would have put towards making the import system work on three platforms (with who knows how many bad flags from DA2) can be put towards programming the Keep instead.

I just assumed they would implement a fix-all patch, but this approach makes more sense I guess. I'll just have to wait and see how the keep works from PC to 360.

Moving everyone onto the Keep now also makes it easier for any future games, since they're almost certain to only be on next-gen consoles.

It also lets them create a single keep rather than platform specific ones which they were trying to avoid i believe.

Yes, but that needn't mean they discuss the previous games' events very much. Anders didn't exactly talk our ears off all about the Warden.

Supposedly, each choice in the Keep will have some sort of short narrative to it, to help you make that choice even if you did not play the games, or have completely forgotten what happened.

And save imports will most likely not happen because of the mess the save files were

As others have said its partly because of how the imports were messed up because of how the saves for Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 are and not matter what they do direct save imports would have incorrect variables imported. The other thing is the amount of work it would require for basically they would have to make the same thing twice for they would have to create a program within Inquisition instead of just an import feature and then test the heck out of it to try and find any issues before release.

Here is a 30min video interview from December talking about The Keep as well and if I remember correctly they do talk about some of the problem of a direct import as well.  Link

Is there any new news on this?

I mean the game isn't "right" around the corner, but it is coming out this fall.

The website looks exactly the same as it did when they made the 1st post almost a year ago.

Nope. I imagine there will be a whole segment or interview devoted to the keep when they either open it up, or just before.

Somewhere on this forum or this thread the Bioware people have posted a list of conventions they will be attending before the launch of DAI where they are likely to release DAI info for us. Don't know the link sorry but I know there's like 6 appearances and one after OCT 7.

Fair enough. I would hope it gets released before the game at least.

If you're referring to the Keep the Bioware people have said it should be Open Beta about a month before the release. So around the end of August/beginning of Sept. Though things change and I don't know anything for certain.

If you can't remember your world-state well enough to get it right with the Keep, how would you know that you'd gotten it wrong later on?

I'm talking about the small details, and that was hypothetical. All I'm saying is, if we wanted it to be exactly the same as how we played it, it will take a LONG time. Cross platform saves worked fine with Mass Effect, I don't see how it wouldn't work this time, especially on the PC. I don't have all the details about how you can access your save, but it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't have some type of uploading system that can read your save.

July 11 is the Gaymer X2 conference and the Bioware team will be there. We might get some info on Keep and other DAI related stuff then.

Because the saves themselves are bugged. They store incorrect and sometimes incoherent data about some important choices.

That's pretty much what everyone is saying. It's not that they COULDN'T do an import system even for just the 360 it's that the import system in itself is bugged and eventually were all going to be new-gen platforming anyway so why not start to implement a NON buggy version of "importing" now. Yeah it might be confusing and everyone is a little worried about how it's going to be done but don't let negativity and fear stop us and you from enjoying what can and is possibly going to be something really awesome. Until you hear or see something about the Keep to complain about I think we all just need to remain hopeful and focus on our excitement at an upcoming Titan of a game and a new import system. I for one am very excited to have such control over what will go into my game and can't wait to either be invited or have the Keep go open.

It's not that they don't know how to do this. It's that they can't since Microsoft and Playstation have made it abundantly clear that they can not upload save data off of their systems(xbox 360 and PS3) to any service other than their own secure servers, for security reasons. So because of this they decided to even the playing field and not do it for any platform. So the Keep will not have an import feature unless Microsoft and Playstation change their policy on save files.

They said one month before release of DAI was their target window, so don't expect to see it before September.
