They received 32,000 or so  applications for the closed beta in the first week they announced it, I sort of assumed the stress test would be inviting everyone who applied.

And yet here we wait...

I likened what most people assumed to be an open beta to a soft launch before it was officially launched along side DAI

I love how people with absolutely no experience with commercial software development think they know how it should be done.

It reminds me of all the armchair generals opining on CNN and/or Fox News about how they would fight [insert current enemy here].

And when, exactly, was the term "open beta" ever uttered by any BioWare staff?

Oh.  That's right.  NEVER.

Was hoping for news on the beta months after I signed up, alas I guess there is none :(

It should launch (relatively) soon based on what we've been told; it won't launch along side DAI, but will launch first.

Multiple waves of beta invites have been sent out - just not to you. (Or me :( .)

I don't really care about a beta invite. I just want to hear something like "almost done" or "DA: Keep will be out soon!"

They tried about talking about works in progress in the past and got accused of being "liars" and "false advertising" so I doubt they will say anything until the product is going out the door.

It'd be nice, but why would they? They've said it'll be out about a month before release. To them, there really isn't a reason to give updates like that. We already know when to expect it.

I think it depends on testing. If it is smooth or not. My thoughts. We should get news in coming weeks about keep. Or so they stated on twitter so will wait and see.

I like how you assume everyone who ventures an opinion contrary to yours *must* have no idea what they are talking about.  Instead of presenting a bunch of ad hominems, why not demonstrate *why* what's being said makes no sense.

I hope we can back up our sava data from the keep to our comps. Don't really trust the cloud Iron Bullshit

"The Keep will be available to everyone a few months before DAI gets released, in order to give fans plenty of time to experiment with scenarios and make their history exactly how they want." -Mark Darrah

To me this means a full release in August at the latest, as I would consider no less to be "a few months". Now I am sincerely hoping that Bioware/EA isn't planing on a full release without proper stress testing (cough cough battlefield). I really wanted to see an open beta, but I guess if that doesn't happen I wont be to let down. Maybe we'll still get one in July? Asking fans to accept a website as a mandatory component of this game is already a stretch. Fan reactions to the website will set the tone for how the whole game is received.

It is worth noting that Bioware will be at a convention on July 11th that would present a good opportunity to announce a release date for open beta/full release/more details.

The way I understand how The Keep works is you only need to download the file(s) once to your platform and you can use it multiple times.  I doubt you would be able to load it back into The Keep to make changes to create a new scenario though.

Things can change and they could have at that time fully expected to have a release in August and something did happen to a delay.

I just tweeted Fernando Melo and the Bioware crew to see if they could let us know if any Keep info was/is going to be released at the July 11 convention. I'll let you all know if they respond.

Am a chick, but I appreciate the sentiment none the less lol. Also Fernando Melo said that he has no idea about this. Still waiting on answer from others.

My deepest apologies lady rogue.

I fully accept that there could have been setbacks and I'm sure that I'll love the end result regardless. I'm 100% willing to jump through any and all hoops required to get to that sweet sweet Bioware story. But, Bioware isn't known for following through on its promises (Follower Fridays). If the public starts roaring about broken promises before they've even had a look at the proper game, I'm worried it wont end well. I suppose I'm just frustrated with this behavior and concerned that if this game doesn't do well I could lose my Dragon Age fix forever :(

Well I tweeted him too so hopefully he will give me a confirmation that, like where they released a weeks worth of invites during E3, they will maybe release or open the beta during July 11 Gaymer X convention. I'll let you know what he says if he answers.

If August is what everyone has been expecting, we're still over a month away. I don't personally think they'll use marketing time at a convention to go into big details, but rather release some kind of blog post or video personally.

Do you know in which interview he said that? I feel like I watched every interview known to man with Bioware from E3 and don't recall this.

From the Twitter thread:

User

How soon before DAI release will the Keep be available?

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw

“Before” is as precise as I’m willing to go, so assume 1 minute, and be pleasantly surprised!

... so 'before' is as specific as information gets right now.

It'll probably be as specific as it will get period.  He used a number on romances and people spammed him with messages about it so he said that he won't use numbers again when talking about anything because people take it as instant gospel or read to much into it
