Am hoping that the disks install from the disks; not default to DL like with some other games. That wait could be massive....
I'm sorry but I fail to see how that impacts the Keep...and they have said that in DAI's case the disk versions will install from the disk apart from any day 1 patch of course.

Amazon is not the only one to offer cloud-based server support, nor the best for larger scale commercial efforts.
But what has been shown is that game companies either aren't utilizing these extra support methods (probably due to cost) or just don't get enough. The ABILITY to avoid these things exist, just not the execution. Whether that is intentional to save money to due to ignorance of user behaviors is not always clear, but I would brace for the worst - such as not being able to use any of your world states to start the game for the first day or so - so that if it happens, you won't be surprised (and if it doesn't, you will be pleasantly happy).
Its all about numbers and pre-orders are probably going to help them try and figure out how many people are actually going to be playing Dragon Age: Inquisition and they probably developed a formula for how many people are going to buy the game and out of that pool of people how many are going to use The Keep. At least with Origin I think they are going to have a more robust system then what has happened with Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2 with the server crumbling under the load of people just logging in (I don't think Mass Effect 3 had that problem).
Edit:
Another thing that might prevent them from using outside servers is Microsoft and Sony, they would be able to use external servers for the PC market, but I doubt Microsoft or Sony would allow an outside server setup for the console network. Which I believe is part of the reason why importing saves to The Keep is something that can't be guaranteed.

Being Techless, I do not know how the Net actually works, but seemingly further traffic needed to DL full game content cannot help traffic needed to DL/ transfer Keep data.
And Bioware has said that my wait for ME3 must have been a bug, but as others have experienced the same issue, it is not as uncommon as I would like.

As far as I can guess, the servers Origin uses to distribute games and the Keep would be different; if nothing else to prevent the Keep (in a crazy world where millions of people all try to use the keep at the same time) from impacting the distribution of every other game that Origin offers. I.e. the game is more important than the keep.
Never had that problem with ME3 can't comment on it, but I am going digital for DAI b/c i can get it at a discount and still play on day 1 so meh.

The game would be downloaded from the Live servers or PSN in those cases but they don't have to put a web site on those servers. There really wouldn't be a problem with exporting saves from consoles (as anyone can do this with a USB key, so not as easy as reading it from your hard drive), it is exporting them TO consoles that is a problem. The big boys don't like other boys (and girls) messing with their toys.

That and the fact that the direct imports have always been buggy.

That's why they named it The Keep; as in "keep WAITING, suckers!"

I'm still holding out hope that I'll get in before full release time. I got into the SIMS 4 CAS demo- why not this? *fingers crossed*

I played DA][ on launch day, what was the problem?
There was a period of time people couldn't log into the EA servers because of volume, after a couple of hours it stabilized.

This reminds me of the wait for the DA:O character creator. Good memories.

It's strange, when I apply and click "save", it doesn't seem to actually register it. Oh well, it will be out soon enough.
