Thats unlikely.

It doesnt matter how many choices they code into the keep. It matters how many they code into the game itself. The keep likely had every choice nailed down before the development even started.

Nope.

I imagine it will never stop changing; that's a feature we've supported from the beginning.

It's an incredibly powerful tool, one I am so excited to release outside of beta... but for the time being you just get to read me get excited and vague non-answers ;)

I actually just wrote up a bunch about why its so useful, but I'm going to error on the side of caution and save my excited ramblings for once were live and I don't have to leave out so much cool stuff.

Full disclosure: I'm a massive web nerd and a huge video gamer; so this all might just be moderately nifty to a normal human being, but I guess we will all find out eventually :)

Well, im certainly glad to read that, and its very kind of you to actually respond. Im very excited to see the finished product.

But you will have to forgive me for being skeptical until I actually see the product. I have been promised things before you see.

But, please, dont take my pessimism as an insult, that's not my goal.

We don't want you to explode with excitement, I call for a general Keep release! (or some new beta invites  )

User
has the release of DAKeep been delayed as well or will we still get access to it in approximately September 2014

Still looking, but likely it will bump out as well.

:(

Well balls. (Double kick)

The Keep might also be part of the reason for the delay of the game. After all the Keep is an essential part of the game. We wouldn't like it if it was released after the game now would we. ;)

I haven't really been following this thread and I did search beforehand but found nothing so... any idea if this thing will keep track of who joined the party and who didn't?  Or if, say, the Warden kicked Morrigan out of the party at some point?  Hawke never met Isabela?  Etc?

I would like to think so, but unfortunately there is no way of knowing at this point. Unless you get into the beta, then you would know and no one else would know. Darn NDA!! I so want to be in the beta so I can know all the ins and outs. Bioware please more invites!!!!!

I don't think the Keep is the (a) problem. Unless they pulled some crazy **** and put the character creator into it, it should mostly consist of some text, a few checkboxes and a PHP script to save your choices in a .txt on the server which is then downloaded by your Origin client (or whatever kind of software they have for that on consoles).

The tricky thing about the keep is getting all the stuff in there, the execution itself shouldn't be that hard. At least I wouldn't make it complicated, because complicated things tend to get borked...

Oh, okay, thanks.  I wasn't sure exactly what had been discussed here and there's 166 pages, so... lol  Well, here's to hoping that part is covered.

You guys realize there is only one way for Bioware to avoid unnecessary fan rage, right?

Cool. I thought that maybe a really large bug showed up and they weren't sure how to fix it. I'm glad it's not the keep. Hopefully it's because they wanted to shore up and really tweak the game and truly make it awesome. If that's the case I think I can wait another 6 weeks.

If someone hasn't already posted here's a vid from gamerMD83 she states to ask questions from her and she is coordinating with Dragon Age Keep staff to answer what she can without breaking NDA, see below.

To be perfectly honest, i could care less about having questions answered that can't actually answer real questions. Need to see it for myself.  Thx for the info though.

Considering the bad news, I would've hoped BioWare had at least stuck with releasing the Keep sometime during September, but as this is not the case and the keep has been set back in accordance with the delay, the least they can do IMO is to actually give us a concrete release date for it now (will it be in October?).

any hints on when it leaves beta?

(1 year of waiting since application sent in, given up hope of getting in the beta)

Some more info about how the Keep actually works, from Derek French:

Let me try and clear up one point. There is no "save" being generated by the Keep. It is a clearly understood piece of data between the game and the Keep that is nothing like a save game. There are no file downloads taking place to your gaming system, just an exchange of that data. Also, there is no importing of previous saves, so the only way to get the data wrong is to make the data wrong yourself.

The information from the Keep is only read once when you start a new game. That game/state will never look to the Keep again.

Presumably the data from the Keep is baked into the new game save file once it's created, which means you won't need to access the Keep again for that playthrough.

(For people who are worried about internet connectivity, that means you can connect once to create a new game using the Keep, then disconnect the internet.)

They never really gave a date though, they just said for sure before the game, maybe about a month or so.

interviews around when it was first announced hinted towards a target or early 2014 for release of keep. its now mid 2014. sad panda.
