This is awesome. I was hoping for an in-depth background "creator" like this. Now I don't have to replay through previous games to get the specific outcomes I want. Granted, I do have saves already prepared that are satisfying, having the freedom to redesign them is really convenient.

Joe, I'm curious to just how many choices The Keep actually contains! I know we can decide choices like either siding with the Dalish or Werewolves, but what about the smaller choices like deciding to free Jowin or turn him over to the Templars? Will choices like those also be available?

I just signed up for the beta, but can we please get that utterly beautiful background art in wallpaper size?
I tried to get it myself (I hope that's okay), but I can only get the dragon and side tiles and not the moon background. I would love to be greeted with that when I use the computer! ^_^

Come to think of it, I could also use one of Matt Rhodes' pieces since he's uploading them on his tumblr now. So much amazing art!

Will it be possible to import saves normally if I have all of the games on the same console, without going through the Keep? Because if I'm reading this right, the Keep looks like it's online, and I don't use an online connection with my consoles. It would be really disappointing if I couldn't use any of my saves.

Thats the way it currently looks.

But, as someone mentioned earlier, it may be potentially possible to get on a PC, set things up in The Keep, copy it to a USB drive, and copy it onto your 360. So... hassle and a half, sure. But you could use your saves.

And that would be possible without having the PC version of DA:I? Well, if there are detailed instructions on BSN when the time comes, then I might be able to make that work. Maybe. It's better than nothing.

The Keep would just require a web browser.

What I am getting is that DA:K (Dragon Age Keep) Will allow us to re-create our world, which we could just import? Seems okay, i guess.

I do not know the exact choices that you can make, that's really in the realm of the writers. However, there are a significant number of choices so you can be quite granular.

Nice! :wizard:

Are you going to see some content "exclusively" if you are able to import your own DA saves (without using the Keep)? Example: Mass Effect's difference of using Genesis and your own save file.

All right, then I might be able to use this work-around... as long as my lack of tech skill doesn't mess everything up beyond repair. It just seems like a lot of trouble to go through when my saves are already on the console. Is there any chance that there will still be an option to import normally?

This is a really good idea for Bioware. It lets the beta testers find problems when their save games are imported into the site. It then gives Bioware access to a huge amount of data they can then use to test the actual game with. This should mean we don't get problems like happened with DA2

How minute are these choices going to be?

Like, can I choose who likes who? Which minor character I horribly decapitated? Can I retcon the earlier Mabaris to be called Captain Dink and Butt Stallion?

More importantly if this helps it so I don't need to slog through DAO and DA2 multiple times to play DAI with all sortsa different choices all the better.

One of the reasons why I never really played ME3s SP more than once was because I would have had to play ME1 and 2 obsessively and multiple times. Just don't have that kindsa drive in me.

That's my hope too.

On another note the Beta Application thingamajig for the Keep requires WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much information for my liking.

So, will we be able to do something like import a DAO endgame save, set all the states from Awakening (my playthrough with that character got borked by a bug that destroyed all my gear, I couldn't bring myself to start over), and then import a *different* Hawke from DA2 that did NOT use the original DAO character?

I don't mind if I'd have to set everything manually, I just figure it'd save a LOT of time if I could just import the mess I have and spend a few minutes fixing the conflicts instead of setting everything from scratch.

Anyway, I'm excited--I love DA but I'm kind of at the state where I don't really care to replay the first 2 games right now, but I do want to be able to reconcile my existing characters to each other.

Name and email address and a few games off a list is too much info for you?

Geez, I've done a couple of betas where they practically asked for character references and work history.

The name requirement would be too much for me. If the Keep requires that when the game comes out, then I'd rather play with the default choices.

I consider this an excellent solution to the cross-platform saves issue.

Right, but if you're console isn't connected to the Internet, it would likely require some data juggling (if it works at all).

After all, not all (or, possibly, a large minority even) of console players don't have internet access, a wireless adapter for their console and/or nearby access to a wired ethernet connection to hook their console up with as to make this possible without literally taking their console somewhere else.

That's cool, one of the things I've always missed with the Genesis DLC's were the "minor" choices.
How you handled Helena Blake in ME1 for example; if you import a save from an ME1 game into ME2 you can run into her - while if you set up your ME2 game with Genesis it's like she never existed.
And there were several other little things like that IIRC. (it's been a while since I've used Genesis as I prefered my save games for the above reasons).

Country of origin, name, etc etc.

I try to put as little RL information in these sortsa things, personal paranoia.

As is why I keep everything as seperate as I can when it comes to e-mails, facebook, BSN other sites.

Considering you are signing in with your Origin account to register for it... isn't that already information EA/Bioware would have anyway?
Or are you one of those people that makes up fake identities for that kind of stuff?

Thank you and your team (and the writers) for all of your hard work. And for answering so many of our questions! World state imports are one of my favorite features of Dragon Age and I think it defines the franchise. :)

Origin should know my country due to blilling most definetly but it's linked to a Gmail account that is not linked to any real world information.

The person was asking if they would need the PC version of DAI. I assume that they were referring to using the Keep, since the assumption that they owned a non-PC version of the game that wasn't connected to the internet was made in the original post (when they effectively declared just that).

I do have what i think might be an important question for some, on consoles will a gold account or a playstation plus be required for this feature to work? Because i don't have any use for a paid online account, so i don't have one just a free silver account.
