I mean, we know the gist of it. I really don't see what other details they could get into until it's ready to show off.

I believe they've said there will be some kind of showcase video at some point, but what else do we need to know?

There won't be at least for awhile, but I am pretty sure they will have something in the works for if they ever sunset the servers. Just to keep in mind something like The Keep is probably a lot less resource intensive then running a multiplayer server, it just needs more storage space and that could be considered debatable if not a lot of people create imports.

Tell that to the Battlefield community. They actually set up their own Gamespy-server now (over 15.000 players registered, so much for a "small group of hardcore fans", EA) which runs on an old Netbook (just to give you a clue about how "much" that costs - near to nothing).
But rest assured: If the world states are just a downloaded file, we can recreate the creation process of that file. It might not be possible for consoles (can't tell, I know next to nothing about consoles) but definitely for PC users…

When the release was scheduled for Oct 7 (US/Canada) the Keep was expected to go public in (early?) Sep.
With the delay until Nov, BioWare are discussing whether to move the Keep date as well. No decision yet.

The Keep doesn't generate an actual file according to Bioware. I am of the believe it generates a code, similar to a CC code. Even if some can replicate the code they would still need to find a way to have the game reach a new website if the Keep ever goes offline without EA coming with a backup plan.

And a replacement server may be cheap but they would still need extra personnel to maintain it. No matter how cheap something may be at some point a publisher may no longer be willing to support a product.

Bioware hopes to use the Keep for future games going forward, so I expect it will have a long lifespan.

Whether or not Bioware decides to create a downloadable version at the end of that lifespan may just boil down to practicalities. They'd have to design it to work on all relevant platforms (Both those DAI is on and any future platforms for games since DAI) which is the most significant hurdle I can think of, considering that avoiding that situation was part of the motivation for making the Keep a website in the first place.

Its exactly the same thing BioWare said with Mass Effect 3 and its multiplayer, for they said have something planned to happen if the servers disappear.  Yes EA could have come up with something, but then people would have been upset because it might require Origin like how most of the ones that have been "saved" require Steam now.

I was wrong about match making servers because I was thinking of the servers that hosted players and not including the ones that function like a match maker and forces its players to host the game.

CC codes can still be recreated, you just have to fiddle out how it works (the algorithm behind it). The download of the code itself is also no problem, you just have to get the IP-address and edit the players host-file to let it reach your own server. Problem solved.

This is not about whether EA might abandon the Keep eventually (they will), but to assure you that fixing this ourself is not a big deal. At least if the game is good enough to attract the same amount of attention in eight years like Battlefield does now…

None of the games that require Steam now were sold via Origin. Battlefield on the other hand (up to BF3  BF3 was of course not available via Steam...) was sold via Steam. Of course your standard Steam users would be upset if they had to install Origin to play a Steam game.
I just wanted to point out that the money required to work this out was such a tiny amount, that EA could have paid it from their petty cash…

Key goals of any branding effort are to achieve "uniqueness" and avoid confusion.
As already noted: "Origin" fails on both counts.

Again, this causes confusion for a very small number of people. One game that was published a year and a half before the EADM rebranding had a similar name, true. So a couple of support guys might have a problem, yep. Well, that's a shame, but if they liked the new brand, it'd be silly to worry about making a little trouble for a couple of tech support guys.

If you run your business by never making any trouble whatsoever for anyone in the organization, you'll never get anything done.

I was referring to the games that used GameSpy like Battlefield such as AMRA 2, Borderlands 1, and Civilization 3 and 4.  They have been moved to Steam support for their multiplayer aspects now and I think EA would have moved Battlefield to Origin like these companies moved their games to Steam.

As I said: None of those games were sold via Origin. Most of those games already required you to have Steam (though not all of them). And there are examples of publishers that made their games work without Gamespy and without Steam (Rome Total War for example)...

I sure hope they release the Keep in September give me the chance to create stuff and familiarize myself with the content, I wonder if the Keep will read like that ME2 comic book type that was in the game if you missed out on ME1 or didn't want to replay it or will it be like an online book describing the events and giving us a multiple choice selection type answer's.

An even report missing content that maybe the Beta testers may have missed.

Personally I hope there is a downloadable version of the Keep. Both directly to consoles or to PC.

Because when they inevitably stop supporting the transfers a few years down the line, I want to be able to import world states.

I think "a few years" is likely going to be far too soon for the Keep to be shut down.  Bioware's intent appears to be to create a site which will operate on all future DA installments.  They've already announced that they plan on continuing the franchise for a while (I believe it was stated by one of the devs that they had a basic idea for at the very least 2 more installments), and as long as Inquisition sells well (isn't it already at the top of EA's preorder list?  I thought I read that) I don't see why the franchise won't continue for some time yet.

Sure, it probably will eventually be discontinued.  But by that point there most likely will be an alternative to the Keep: either developed by Bioware, or generated by the community.  I don't think we'll have to worry about that though for quite some time; provided the franchise remains profitable.  :)

I doubt it'll be September, but before the game for sure.

I'd assume they're still looking at a month early - so early to mid October.

Well, they weren't sure about setting the Keep release back last I heard, but I'd say that's the safe bet.

Still hoping for a mid-September release though (Or Beta access  )

Yeah.  It seems like the most 'reasonable' thing to do.  Another month of working out kinks before tons of people are welcomed in?  Seems like a no brainer.

The earlier the better in my book though.  I need something.  SOMETHING.

I'm actually not that concerned. It's a website as is the forum here. They can handle the traffic here, so why not the Keep, beside all hardcore fans on this forum, will create their world states before DA:I releases.

As of the download of our world states, they said, that it's not actually a file, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Ah! Thank you, I was not aware of this. :) As said, I'm not the one who is worried, it was something one of my friend's was concerned with so it just got me thinking. I thought to post here so maybe I could find something to reassure him. I'll be sure to tell him that the next time I see him.

They will be doing stress tests, the big test will be the first day they open it up to everyone.  All the people who haven't gotten in will flood there, so I think if it can handle that day then it'll handle any others

Agreed. Again, I think my friend might be worrying over nothing. But I thought it worth thinking about it and asking around. Thanks!

What do they need to maintain it? I would think until they needed to add support for the next games, it wouldn't require much
